Randyleenyderjr, Depeche mode is not gay you moron. Dave gahan has been married several times and i used to think martin gore was gay but turns out he is straight and i he has had more girls in one night than you will ever have in your life time. get your facts straight before you spit out your mouth

Man this is a fucking classic younger people as such should listen to this more like me 18 baby :D man what a tune :D i remember listening to this at my dads a long time ago :P
I like this song ^^ The first guy on screen kind of reminds me of someone... I can't remember who but it made me laugh... another bored college day was defeated :D (PS. I apologize for my lack of knowlege about genesis)
Oh crap I did it again, sorry x.x I had been watching 'land of confusion' earlier and must have subconsciously put genesis instead of tears for fears... damn, I really gotta stop doing that XD I MEANT to put Tears for Fears though, thanks for pointing that out dude ~ x
I sometimes wish I was could be born in the 70s and then during my teens I could just SHOUT SHOUT AND LET IT ALL OUT in the 80s. In that era, the music, movies, the cars the styles were retro and spellbinding. I'm 23 now and I only experienced the 80s with my parents and only had a real experience for only about a year when I started remeber things in that era.
More to the point, the fact that Disturbed covered such an excellent song is testament to their appreciation and connection with great music. Any versatile rock fan will have a Disturbed album or 2 lying around. Point made.
@FassinTaak Couldn't have responded better myself. Both bands would shout a more open-minded attitude with less hate and greed...and they're worlds apart in style but agree on that...a testament to the diversity of the soul.
Jellyboy - Disturbed are not throwaway music I'm afraid... they have a unique sound and some excellent originals such as 'sickness', if it's not your type of music then fair enough but don't judge it if you don't understand it.
Disturbed could never even write a song like this.
Disturbed are how you say throw away music who have zero originality because they cover songs and they appeal to teenage kids and once them teenage kids grow up they throw their albums away, hence the word throw away music.
Ditto. Talent and genius like that only comes from Roland Orzabal. To repeat "these are the things I can do without come on" and have it as a mantra or a chant. Sheer genius. :)
Roland Orzabal along with Tears for Fears are following the path of great music put forth before them by Simon and Garfunkel and The Beatles... but after TFF came up Nirvana in 90s and Radiohead 2000s... i don't know about any of you but if Kurt Kovain commited suicide it was because he wasn't normal and Radiohead tries to confuse and i guess people like being confused cuz they have a large fanbase..
point is Good Music-->Tears for Fears--->everything that followed is sh*t, so let's SHOUT!
and heavy metal is just guys screamin as loud as they can... they're not even singing they're just sayin... "LOOK!!!!!!!!!! RAHHH!!!!!! I CAN SCREAM LOUDER THAN YOU AHHHH!!!!!!!!! just throwin that out there rofl
this is the good stuff... noone realises it but rap is just guys that are dumb as %&^$ talking out rhymes and thinking that they're cool lol... kinda sad actually... If im 13 and I realise this why cant anyone else?

Whoever thinks it's weird that you like this music obviously isn't hearing the music. It's soulful, impassioned, mature and powerful. It shows you have a good ear and shows that you're serious about music.
Only weird thing is the setting for some of the video. It is on the coast in Dorset (UK). Very calming location. Seems slightly incongruous when set against the rebellious message of the song. Also, the ending is slightly off (cheap?). Anyway been a good song in my life for the last 24 years, and I have driven many miles singing along with it.
that's one of the problems that the song is referring to... a false image imposed by society for which they are trying to break free from... "those one track minds, they took you for a working boy"... Tears for Fears can sing/do whatever they like/please disregarding any society labels..
Disturbed is cool, i like them, i think they did a good version of the song, but the original is groundbreaking.
OK. Don't go shooting up the local army base. There are people on here that I refer to as professional shit disturbers. They get their jollies by pissing people off and drawing attention to themselves in a public forum. Wait a few days, he'll be in another youtube video and won't be here annoying you, or us.
I don't know. The original is pretty good. It has alot more of a variety of emotion; sadness, anger, fear, and a hint of hopeful determination. Disturbed just has alot of anger.
If I only let myself listen to the crappy music of today then I'd think the same thing. Theres plenty of good music now, it may not sound the way it has in the past, but HEY, thats evolution of ourselves, our world, our music. You just gotta be open minded.
Ahhh the Classic Open Minddness Argument. As if because I happen to think hip hop and dance music are soulless crap I am less of an open minded person? Ha.
Where do you draw the line on open mindedness???
Do you listen to shit music just because you want to be open minded?
No, I don't mean hip hop or emo or rap. Theres so much stuff out there. How about Portishead? who continues to be amazing. What about Mike Patton? Who continues to create mike-patton-y sounds.. Turn on the radio, yeah.. I said it... everyone wants to be sooo cool and hate their generation, hate the world... when did living in the past become a trend? oh... haha... you person you constantly complain about... that nothing is new and its all copies of the past. Just like fashion... yet...
its people like YOU who hold on to the past because you are too unoriginal to listen to anything new.
I think you underestimate music when you expect only one thing... whether it be SOUL or whatever... Music is much much more than sending a message or talking about pain and suffering or anger...
Where do you draw the line on open-mindedness? when it's actual crap.
You'll know it when you hear it, it sounds like Kenye West. thats pure watery crap.
Holding on to the past? I never even said what kind of music I listen to. Mike Patton is new??? Really?
And portis head? They been round the block at this stage woman. At least get your facts right.
I like nothing better than listening to your uneducated ramblings on youtube But I think Im gonna go listen to a good song or 2...... YOu wouldn't know about it
No music is emo nowerdays every1 fucking hates emo's :) rap sucks and isnt famous same with hip-hop. screamo, rock, heavy, heavy m,synth, trance, dance, drum n bass, house, disco, pop culture,old,modern,indie,greabo,rnb,rap/rnb mix, dj, most of these are in atm. are you like 90?
No music is emo nowAdays? Oh yes, "emo" music still exists, even though that people frown upon them in society, ;).
Rap sucks and isn't famous, and the same goes for hip-hop? What the fuck are you even fucking talking about, cuntbitch? Besides, it's not famous, it's in, ;).
Screamo, Heavy Metal, Old, modern and Indie being "in"? What the fuck? The last three covers EVERY SINGLE FUCKING BAND TO EVER FUCKING PERFORM IN THIS FUCKING UNIVERSE, DIAPERSUCKER. WHAT. THE. F
Your saying nobody likees any of the genres i posted up? where tha fuck do you live? by the way you type your a bloody yank. :) you should fucking know as all the scene kids lovce screami/techno.rave <-- i named those you tit. there fucking in with the genres of people. or just with the general normal people who enjoy this music. if you reply you suck horse cock.
Really? You need to revert to personal insults here? I thought this was an adult conversation I guess not...
My point it its not considered new in the mainstream and its not popular in the mainstream.
My personal favourite Artists are Chris Cornell, Bowie Tom Waits.
I think we got our wires crossed here. Emo and Rap IS whats big at the moment. I happen to think it is shit. BUT it is a lot newer than the likes of What you and I listen to
everyone that commented is right as today's music sucks. That's why I have a playlist on my zune with pure 80's and over 300 songs and put random. who needs the radio, just put the tuner and play it on my radio.
Great song indeed! But did he really have to articulate that much?Where,s the girl with sign language in the right bottom corner?Just kidding people, just kidding!

This, to me, is one of a few songs that reaches the epitome of a political pop track;
"In violent times, you shouldn't have to sell your soul/
In Black and white, they really, really ought to know/
those one track minds, who took for a worthless soul/
kiss them goodbye, you shouldn't have to shout for joy/"
"They gave you life/
and in return, you gave them hell/
as cold as ice/
I hope we live to tell tale..."
Incredible lyrics. I spit rhymes like this, political an poetic. Love these guys.

Mike patton and portishead never stopped! geezus. But its new (and older..not old), AND good.
Did you read that I said "continues"???
I feel like I'm arguing with the idiot who thinks the other one is the idiot. Its kind of like thinking everyone is insane when its really just you.
*rolls eyes*
it doesn't matter what you listen to, you already stated your position when you disagreed by saying music now was hip-hop, rap, and emo.
