Land Rover have said that the role of the concept is to gauge opinion so it can inform the production design - you have to welcome that. I think there are the bones of a potential replacement there but it will be a thankless task for the designers. I can't wait to see the next development.

Defenders ought to be kept as close to the orginal and bare-basics as possible.

All ther better to appreciate the true essense of this legend. The lighting pack, although nice to look at, , in my opinion, is just making the Defender what it is not, a simple pretty face.

i beleive tata is going broke, it cant afford to keep landrover and jag alive for much longer... it's sad....

Re Tata: things did look a bit scary in the middle of 2009 when they had to find a shed load of cash to refinance the loans they took out to by Land Rover ...but that is now sorted, and LR sales are steaming ahead following the intro of 2010 models.

i think there is no doubt that the defender will continue, it has too much history behind it to let it die off.

the prod will be discontinued in 2013 due to european regulations.

WTF! I mean why do we have these 'european regulations' totally nonsens. People are starting to drive unsave because they drive cars with airbags etc. BUt I have heard that they will come with an 'all new defender in 2010
