bearcreak - that is a great point you bring up. In order to really 'go green' on a massive scale, we absolutely need to incorporate green ideas into all facets of life - including city planning. Look out for our show "Greensburg", hosted by Leo DiCaprio, which chronicles the rebuilding of a town the "green" way...literally from the ground up!
Why are all green eco warriors, preaching on how to live our lives all rich, wealthy idiots?
People like me do not always have the financial resources to live green and I feel the Green Movement is just another tool used by rich people to keep me in my place, so | can't enjoy the expensive things they do regularly :-(
if people think we need to start walking more then the people who plan neiborhoods should put a stores, parks, movies, theatres, and shit like that with in walking distance. I live in houston texas and im sorry to say that there arent very many places close enough to walk to. The corner store maybe. Buses dont even go to certain areas.
That is a good point. I'm not always apt to walking, and to be honest I oppose it at all costs, but if things were closer with gas prices the way they are now, I would do that or ride a bike to get where I need to go.
But then you run into problems of over population, which statistically raises rates of disease, poverty, and crime. It's a good concept for smaller towns but a nightmare for big cities.
instead of all of you people complaining...
shut up and make a difference!!!
the smallest act can make a difference, like recycling, consume less energy,...
