I too went from quad tip to dual when I changed my exhaust from header's to the tips. Your C5 sounds fantastic! And runs like hell. Great Corvette. I, as another reader states, plan my next Corvette as a 2004 Z06 or C5 coupe, then modify it. Currently I am very happy with my 1987 C4 after having back in the 70's 2 C3's, 1970 & 1973, the '73 is in my video attached. Thanks for posting this video.
@Lonewolf36 Hey THANKS bud! I love the dual tips, looks mean or something LOL... I have had both the coupe and now the Z and it is a very tough choice to make. Removable top vs complete animal... I still go back and forth LOL.
@devnull128 I will get the 4.10's. I tend to go complete animal but love the look of the coupe. Maybe the best of both worlds will work with some mods.
Hey, your exhaust sounds perfect. It has that nice rumble to it, but it's not too loud like the vettes with the borla stingers, which is not necessary. and i have to disagree on the trunk lol.. i like how u can tell the difference between the c5 and c5 z06. i saw a c6 the other day and it had the z06 rims on it so i thought it was a c6 z06 but it was just a base c6.. see ur car i can tell the difference.. i wanna get a yellow c5 one of these days. theyre dropping quick lol
I am hot and cold on the trunk deal. With the CCW 505A's I like the car a lot more than totally stock. I hear you on the price drop and am starting to think that I may need a second one now LOL!
(but BTW, this is Z does have stingers, and long tubes)
That's my bad lol. I meant to say how yours is the BEST sounding Z06 I've heard on youtube lol.. everyone else has their shit sounding like a top fuel dragster.. but yours is PERFECT. and yes i want to get a C5 Z06 one of these days, specifically in yellow. and it's a 50-50 thing with the trunk.. In my opinion, i like the style better, but there's less space than the hatchback, which can be unreliable when packing luggage or whatever.
Yes I do wish I kept the Ti's too, but gave them away cheap to a forum friend so no biggie (I would have probably never used them anyway)...
I did long tubes, pro cats, the x-pipe, the stingers, and a vararam in one shot and saw a 33rwhp jump on the dyno... Another 10 after the tune. LOVE IT!
it sounds much better than the cammed vette with stingers that sound un-sporty just loud.
next try to lose serious weight on driveline first.
That will give you twice the adv compared to ligher hood and wheels.
Then if you are quick with teh pedals you can get a light clutch + flywheel. then the z06s rev like a gumpert (ok that is a stretch; but still). whoaaa!!
Maybe 2 days after this trip I put in a Fidanza AL wheel and Kevlar clutch. Nothing like losing 13lbs at the flywheel! Then I put on the BEAR Eradispeed rotors (4lbs lighter), A 3.90 rear, and a beefed up shaft.
Sadly, I have to agree with you... I much prefer the look of the coupe look over the Z (and have owned both), but the Z is such an animal compared to the regular vette that you forget about it, quickly.
I was glad to see that they did the Z06 justice on the C6...
No it depends on the hatch, the station wagon style vertical hatches you see on hondas are retarded, the diagonal hatches you see in sports cars, like Corvette, Jaguar etc.. are sexy as hell.
Hard to say bud. I put on the long tubes, cats, x-pipe, catback, intake, and other bits on all at the same time. I went from 357rwhp to 386rwhp before tune. After the tune I came in at 397rwhp. Now at 410 with a AL flywheel, 1.8 rockers and a retune. The biggest thing for me was the flywheel/clutch (surprisingly). The thing is 12 lbs lighter than stock and revs like a motorcycle now! That combined with the flow and sound makes me almost happy to drive to work in the morning (almost).
Hard to say because I didn't dyno before/after on a flywheel. The feel is night and day, and the shifts are 100% different. You no longer have to slow the engine down, and can rev ridiculously fast. I love it.
I thought you were referring to the flywheel. The exhaust plus tune was 31.5hp. Keep in mind that this isn't just a catback. I did long tubes, procats, an x-pipe, and stingers. There is nothing that is as it was in exhaustland on this car.
As far as sound is concerned, to each his own. I like to shake the house when I start it in the morning LOL!
Mustang pass lol. I have a trans am and my dad has a cobra so I have to jump on the mustang hating bandwagon every now and then as well. Nice vid though where is that track?
LOL... I have a good bud that has a new Rustang GT, so I have to throw the dig in wherever I can... That track is Road Atlanta. They have quite a few times a year that you can get onto the track. Great stuff!
Not too bad. My commute is mostly back roads, so the sound is awesome. If I had to do highway only for long trips, I would change the gearing out so that 75mph isn't in the 1800rpm zone. 80 in sixth is no problem (right at 2k), but below that I will stay in fifth.
Overall I could not be happier though. And really, who stays at 1800rpms?
Most cat-back systems give VERY little power gain (especially over pulling the fuse) unless you do a full exhaust (long tubes, cats, etc)...
That being said it is totally personal preference. I love the loud growl of the Borlas, but would go with B&B bullets (even louder) if I had no neighbors. You really have to hear them in person to determine because none of these videos really give an accurate representation of the volume.
1:10 BEST PART!!! Fuck the Ford "Mustakes" lol

LOL... Just likey the two pipe look better. The quads look fine, but add zero performance, and are just a bit too much IMO.
I was actually thinking of ordering an XR-1 set soon, that should really shake the walls!

Thanks again bud.

which al flywheel and clutch did you install? i might go with the same considering the gains you saw.
thanks!!

Hey Bud,
I did the Fidanza flywheel and a MTI Racing stage II kevlar clutch. GREAT combo. I'd also consider the tex twin disk next though.

I heard a lot of bad things about the texralia clutch. i would avoid it.

The Longtubes were $1450, the catbacks (stingers) were $650, and the intake was $450 (with associated parts). I did the work so there was no labor...
This is by far the best car I have ever owned... PM me anytime with questions (I love to talk cars)...
