What a friend of mine and me were discussing 1998 about how futurecars engines would develop becomes more&more true. I believe Hybrids with small turboDiesel/electric engines are the near future in the 2020's.All other soultions won't make it on a big scale, except maybe biogas or alcohol engines. I think BMW makes a better step with this idea than the Hydrogen Experiments before.

This is a very nice piece of work by BMW but it is using the letter I3 and I8 these are copyrighted trademarks of intel so intel are likely to pounce and force a name change , you would have thought BMW would have known the Copyright risk.

wow I thought this was just another pointless eco-friendly and overly-exotic car, but I think BMW really has got the right idea for the "car of the future." Powering and charging the battery by using the kinect forces when braking and recycling the exhaust fumes into energy is absolutely incredible. AND it has the power of an M3. Bravo BMW, Bravo!

All this "hybrid light weight and aerodynamics" things show that the amount of energy stored by state of the art batterys is still absurdly low. As soon as there is proper technology to store sufficient amounts of electric energy those hybrid crutches will be obsolete and we will regret the burning of engineering resources developing them. The only thing you forgot to mention is that the car will cause a lot of sleeplessness because it is hard to find some good sleep knowing that you parked that car down the street about a few yards from your house or school dorm because there was not enough space available. Second, is technology allows, maybe some of that glass like the windshield can double as solar power gens to power the electronic equipment on the dashboard like radio, gps etc during the day?
