Dear Truecrypt - thank you for posting the Grigory Ginsberg reacordings - I have never heard this one - I think his playing is amazing - certainly on par with Richter and Gillels - always different and fascinating musically - with astonishing technique
God!These guys must have all had the same teacher and exchanged Schumann notes in the Conservatory Commode. That said...this is much better than Gilels or Richter at the same game
Gerry: He doesn't know. He doesn't even have a clue of how to play this properly... He won't answer you because he simply doesn't know it. He is the kind of guy who can tell you what it's not music but never ever will able to tell you what it is...
Since his *instrument(?)* is the French Guitar, he probably isn't all that qualified to judge pianists, but the joke is good. His favorite punching bag is Sviatoslav Richter. In general he despises Russian pianists. Since he likes to make a fool of himself, he might as well go for the best.
At least he had some interesting musical ideas, somthing many other pianists seem not to have at all.

We are fortunate as to have many versions of Schumann's toccata here in one day!--
Thank to Truecrypt!

So, you decided to start with this one?

Start what? Start playing. I never play.
Start liking. no, this is not the only one I like and definitely not the only one I've heard.
Ginzburg's interpretation is my preference of all Schumann's Toccatas posted here on Youtube. I do also prefer Samson Francois's.

Start listening. Alluded to the "so far" part of your first sentence. A joke.

Ask Truecrypt what I think of Russian pianism.
Also you're notion of only pianists may ccitisize pianists is...dismissive of practically the entire worldwide audience.

Thank you Smith (though I usually simply skip the vids I don't like). A thumbs up for you from an amateur.
