LOL!! Raptors love doing drive by's on each other. Especially when it comes to snatching young of the others. Sounded like a Coopers Hawk.Owls are great at revenge so I'm guessing those will be some exhausted hawks from staying up all night.
I know a woman who hunts with a female red-tailed hawk. The RT has taken three GHO's over seventeen years. In the wild they rarely mess with each other, though GHO's drive RT's off their nests, since the owls do not build their own. I have seen both species raising chicks within a mile or two from each other.
the hawk was proberly following the birds keeping its track saw the owl and thought i'll give it a go, then did a drive by on the owl and wussyed out, the owl was like wth i was trying to nap.. that hawk would of got its butt kicked.
hawks hunt during the day and owls hunt at night...thats where this horned owl screwed up cuz he was out and about before dark in hawk country.around my house there are usually 6-12 or more redtailed hawks flying around looking for mice,cats,dogs,or carrion during the day and at night the owls take over...if the owls come out too early we've seen the hawks gang up and attack. i hunt coyotes at night and sometimes those owls like to swoop down at me as if trying to warn me off.
