I am an advocate for Windows Machines.. But only desktops. Because of this, people bringing up a war on prices between Mac's and premade ' PC's ' is stupid. If I am going to get a ' PC ' I am gunna be the one building it, leaving me with cheaper, but better, hardware.
All of that aside, if I am going to get a laptop, I will buy a macbook pro.. And slap Windows 7 on there. :D

I was reading an story about if a newer modals of the phone supported 4G, it said that o2 would attempt to make it exclusive to there network. as networks can negotiate with apple for exclusivity rights to new release iphones.

talking about price though, lets say your buying a laptop, high end. does it make more sense to buy a 15" macbook pro for 1800$, poor graphic card, quad core i7 2ghz, 500GB 5400 rpm, 4gb ramwhen you could get the highest end XPS with a 2nd gen i7 @2.70ghz, good graphic card, 750 gb 7200RPM drive, 6 gigs of ram with bluray and full hd screen for 1300 and MS office for 1300? i dont quite see it.

Windows is a great OS and I use it all the time and it really depends on what you need out of the computer. Most people just need a cheap price and they get a stupid $400 piece of crap. Most people do NOT build their own systems! Most people just buy something and use it as is. Only about 20 to 30% of people who use computers build their own! Also for some people it really is about NOT using WINDOWS, which some people can not stand! I personally don't mind paying extra for a bad ass computer, which Macs ARE, and NOT be stuck on windows! I am glad to not have to deal with windows and its problems. You can wast time building a computer and I will enjoy my Mac!
@Mdschannel The US prices are pre-sales tax as far as I know. It varies from state to state. Here in the EU we pay VAT (and Norway has some equivalent I believe with a different name). There's also a bunch of other taxes and duties involved. It's annoying, but it's the sad truth about not living in the US when it comes to prices. Also on top of that, American workers generally get paid less than Europeans, so the tax man will have you believe it "balances out"... which is bull of course lol.

I wish hardware production companies would build some factories in europe. Would make it cheaper for us, and would probably be more envirementaly friendly(less shipping)
@RXHORROR You can't buy the iPhone in the US, you can only get it on contract. The $200 is the up front cost of the unit and the rest of the price (and all your data and calls) are included in the monthly payments you then pay for the next however many months you sign up for. In Ireland (and the UK, and pretty much the entire EU and rest of the world) you can buy it unlocked, outright for €600/£600 (ish) and it's yours. No more payments other than topping up.
OTA updates will happen, but probably over wifi only as those large downloads will put immense strain on networks. But it's fine over wifi since updates happen only once every twoish months. I'm more concerned with Apple improving notification alerts which I hope will resemble the Gamecenter banners that welcome you upon launching a game.
