  • Umm.. Jeez. My baby brother is 16 mos. old and he doesn't even talk.

  • It's actually very easy to teach babies to read! There are many programs out there but my favorite is a software program that takes about 10 minutes per day. Both of my kids were decoding new words by 1 year old. Check out my channel to see my kids in action. :)

  • And it's bullshit that they didn't teach her to read... please explain to me why people my age still can't read if she just picked it up and started. sod off.

  • I hope these people realize, being speech pathologists, that no one has to teach their kids language one-on-one... they just pick it up. I mean, the reading, sure, which is cool, but not language itself.

  • Ay kain't ayven rayd thayz gewd! Whut?

  • Cyanide & Happiness to pictures of clouds, to weird pictures, to UFO sightings, to alien sightings, to BABY VIDEOS? How did this happen?

Cute baby you have there, by the way. She'll grow up to be a smart girl. <3

  • this is not uncommon, all it takes is time.

  • The your baby can read program definitely helped my daughter to read. At age two. She's three and can read children's books with little to no help.

  • she looks tired..... let her sleep instead of 'force reading'

  • my sons 17 months and he's thick as crap so i give him up for adoption.

  • When she accidentally found and read their mortgage agreement - she said - "O shit - who signed this?"

  • maybe she isn't potty trained yet, or she can't go down a slide. Most kids like that excell in one area, are weak in others. Its possible that she will be a top reader when she gets to school, but then because of her parents high expectations, she gets pregnant at 15 like so many other kids whose parents are helicopters.

  • wow, reading at 17 months. Future president of the united states. yeah right.

  • She did the My baby can read program.

  • That little girl is sooo cute! But there's no need for the parents to have such high expectations for a child so young :S

  • "rebirth" is the answer, it's as simple as that...do away with all those freaking something----logists :p

  • Such a cute child.

    Smug parents though :/

  • This is more for the parents ego than anything.

  • good for them great jon Elizabeth

  • DAMN! SHES GANAN GROW UP WITH THE GPA IN SCHOOL OF 4.0! SHES GANAN B SMARTER THEN ME! HAHA

  • Um, that wasn't cursive...

  • im a child psychologist. doc. and this is not a prodogy . this intensive training is not allowing the child to be a child. reading will come naturally. yes, this does stimulate the speach area of the brain sooner. but to have a child that reads at such an early age is not important. allow the child to grow at his/ her own rate as in montessori. parents pushing children do this for thier experiments and wnats. is not nesses. meeting the needs of the child.

  • That couple just got arrested for manufacturing controlled substances...go figure huh? BTW, my son reads too at 18 months....you dont see me going on a TV show.

  • @danismithnjd What really?! Link please.

  • Certain children who are disabled can also read words and sentences etc. really well like children with hyperlexia (mostly boys with autism). My little brother who is 6 has autism and he's got hyperlexia and dyslexia. They're sort of the opposite of each other (I think) but he's way over above average for reading but is really bad at spelling. By the way I may have this all wrong as I'm only 12 x

  • WHOOOOOOA xD that IS amazing :) she's adorable ! -3

  • shes not reading and sounding the words out, she's all visual memory... which is smart in itself...

although her speech therapy parents should be working on her articulation which is still low and (although age appropriate level) and a lot more important than her reading, which is developmentally inappropriate at this age...

  • Yeah, Einstein was the biggest idiot at as child.....Well you judge the rest

  • thats imposible a 17 month baby standing by itself!?

  • @megaleovy1 O_o How is it impossible for a 17 month old baby to be standing by itself? Most children--who aren't constantly in walkers--can walk between 8 and 12 months.

  • she cute

  • My Daughter (2 years in december 2010) read books, too.

    I don´t teach her.

A friend of mine buy her a book for Kids with maximum 5 sentences on a page and many pictures.

So she start readinge BEFORE I read the book with her and she read the words right.

I was very surprised, but this book isn´t not the only.

Now she read sentences and headlines from the newspapers, when wie sit in the kitchen to eat breakfast.

  • Love the fact that people have negative thoughts on this. Would you rather a child so young was learning to speak and understand language with their parents (sorry but they must have taught her because THEY speak so she WILL copy, its what all babies do..), or would you want a child still learning to speak properly by the age of 5 because their parents never made the effort to talk to/around them enough? My niece is 3 and can barely say "dada", its disgraceful! I support early communication...

  • @GraceUnderPressure1 Lady whats the hurry? disraceful you realize that your saying that this childs ability is disgraceful? Get a grip some children dont want to and They have a lifetime ahead of them to catch up slow down and smell the roses whats disgraceful is your narrow minded opinion

  • @relisa1978nov She wasn't saying this child's ability is disgraceful... She was saying that her niece who's 3 years old and can barely say "dada" is disgraceful, which... it is. My nephew is almost 3, and he can hardly say two word sentences when all of the other kids he's around can actually have conversations and speak in sentences containing 5-8 words.

  • Wow.. she is going to be a super-nerd!!!

She cries when she can't read haha.. She will be a great student! :D

  • I'd be more likely to believe that this is real than anyone else because when I was her age, I was already reading and talking. It depends on what the parents do in terms of language development, speaking to the child as an adult (no baby talk) and the visual representations of those words and whatnot. Eventually, even a kid that young will be able to read. You'll have to keep reinforcing it though, their memory is still really weak at that age.

  • People seriously..... FAKE, certain parts were legit but many were audio fake parts created before the video and played along after vid

  • So what exactly is the hurry? What are the great books that make reading as a baby so beneficial? The psychobabbler on the left is quite a cute touch.

  • She's the baby from Goodluck Charlie, right? :)

  • This is amazing! Good Job parents. The baby IS special, but the parents also pushed her a lot to learn. That to me is very important and sets out the whole standard of their parenting through out the years. I am saying this because this is the way I am dealing with my daughter. But I never imagined that she could read words or sentences at this age. You really motivated me...

    Thanks for sharing! :-)

  • does the little girl actually comprehend the words that she is reading? if so, then this is truely amazing! The capabilities of the human mind are boundless. I'm not so convinced that it is important that a child learns to read at 12 mo. I believe it is important that children, once they've learned to read and write continue to do so thoughout their childhood and adult lives.

  • A friend of mine started reading at around 2 or 3 on her own, without being taught..... and in Chinese ! Apparently, her mother just read to her ALL the time, and she followed along as she read and memorized the stories and knew which word matched which sound. Then she noticed the same words and sounds repeated in other kiddie books, and that is how she got started reading on her own. Obviously she got help later for new words, but by then her interest was sparked.

  • WHY WOULD ANYONE DISLIKE THIS?! -.-

  • Wow! Another one. My daughter couldn't read at 17 months but she spoke complete paragraphs and very clearly. dults were always amazed. Now she is 10 and is THE top in her gifted and talented class. She makes powerpoints and writes short stories.

She never lost it. She gets more creative with time.

  • there was a child who was reading so well at this age to find out theyre prodogy child had other very serious learning problems the parents were really shocked and disapointed

  • I wonder if she kept this skill, when her childhood amnesia sets in. Childhood amnesia (or infantile amnesia) is a normal part of brain development and it would be very interesting to see what parts of her skill are retained and what parts are forgotten. It's very possible that she totally lost the skill and has to learn how to read at age 4 or 5 all over again.

There's a video of a girl drawing a horses face partly from the side from memory. A few months later, a horse was ovals and lines.

  • shes cute! :)

  • 3:30 cocaine?

  • She's so SMART!

  • **17 months**

  • wats the rush to learn how to read? most kids learn at 4 or 5 so wats the rush at 12 months?

  • @kittypeachy95 @kittypeachy95 Young minds are more pliable, and earlier you teach them things sooner they can move on to other things, people who learn later in life find things more difficult. But if you teach them more at younger ages they can push the limits of their understanding much further before they reach that age where the brain becomes less pliable making them much smarter. Educational neglect could mean the difference between being the next mozart or being the next road sweeper.

  • I want this woman to donate one of her eggs so I can fertilise it later.

  • wow!!! amazing...

  • maayoha sa bata mobasa oi.....

  • test

  • everyone says she has been taught this well with ann throwing the word out there and have only just wrote it just goes to show us she is reading it not taught it so

  • Yeah they did teach her. How else

    could she learn it?!?!

  • She is sooo cute! She's got an amazing future in front of her. : )

  • Anyone ever see "Your baby can read"? Look it up on YouTube. Most babies do have the ability to do this if they are lucky enough to have parents with the time to teach them.

  • @jebusrules it does not work it just by computers

  • the father is busy with the baby

  • wow its amazing

  • 3:51 "we didn't teach her this" Yes you did.

  • they said it started when she read the word "corn" on a cereal box. so they say the didn't, but once this was discovered they kinda helped her along and i think that's when the "teaching" began and grew into what it is now.

  • They definitely did. If she were three or four I'd say that it is entirely possible that she taught herself- but 13 months? Very VERY unlikely. In order to read you have to have some understanding on phonics and know the sounds and shapes of letter- and I doubt that any child would acquire this knowledge before three-ish without being trained.

  • wow that child's amazing - i hope she takes advantage of that gift

  • She's really cue and adorable. My son at 13 was a dull as ditch water and had the reading level of a 8yr old. He's now a University professor. You don't need to be reading at 17 months

  • @richardsbrandonuca : totally agree :)

  • @richardsbrandonuca

    "dull as ditchwater"

    LOL

  • @Fizzypop1211 Haha!

  • @richardsbrandonuca there is never a need,its just a good job

  • @richardsbrandonuca I completely agree

  • @richardsbrandonuca

I don't think a comment has made me laugh this loud or smile this wide in ages :)

  • thanks 723242 cuz I am looking at my 17 month old like ?? I know he is a genius but he cant say mama either ... weird?

  • indigos!!!;-))))))))))

  • effin overobsessed parents damm talk bout pressure

  • I think mr. BrainRemovalD3vice isn't quite giving credit where credit is due. How does the 'fall of society' have anything to do with the miracle of a 17-month-old girl reading?

  • He wasn't saying that her reading was the fall of society he was saying how "Black people can't even read at the age of 15" is the fall of society. Which was very racist, just ignore his ridiculous comment haha.

  • Wow!!! Reading at not even one-and-a-half year! That is so amazing!

  • Wow , racist much ? I was 18 months too when I could read a full book ! And I'm black ! Maybe the ghetto people in the hood but not EVERY black person , god you're an idiot .

  • amazing!!!!my son is 17month old and theres NOOOOWAY he could read!!!he cant even say mama yet that ive been trying to teach him for months lol

  • omg..thats so cute

  • I hope the parents are just sincere to inspire other parents to nurture their kids and not using her as a money spinnig tool.

  • I will buy this with my next child my daughter had alot of trouble in 1st grade so this is a blessing!

  • what a cutie

  • is she comprehending?

  • You can tell she is somewhat because she knew that the word "Good" was the same as "GOOD" in sign language (which she proceeded to sign), and she got a smile on her face when she said it.

  • thats wat i was wondering

  • i couldnt read or write cursive until i was 7 years old!

  • my brother read teh newsbaber at 2 years and is totally fine menatlly and physically. who knows when eh was reading before that. he just started reading it out loud one day. at age 2

  • Oh this makes me cry. I hope this little girl grows up to be ok. My daughter did this at the same age. The first word she read was her name on her door at 9 months. By 18 months she could read any flash card and all of her children's books. At age 6 she was diagnosed with Hyperlexia and Aspergers. It was a huge shock at first but we love her with all our heart.

  • amazing! she is beautiful!

  • awe she's too cute.she looks sleepy.lol

  • Put anyone anywhere, and tell people to "watch their behaviors". Most will come up with a label, point out areas of "strangeness" which will grow to be seen as deep and examples of an underlying disorder. This is not insight, even though it seems to be open "watch her behaviors" is like saying "I'm telling you, she does seem weird". Don't try to pass that as an informed comment.

  • damn i would pay alot to these parents to raise mine

  • wow that's unbelievable!!

  • i think any child could do that if they were taught from day 1 by two professional speech experts

  • She's very cute.

  • Gifted child. Reminds me of my kids. They were the same way, but it was pretty automatic. No training, just innate.

    Cool.

  • 17 months old? WOW. Now ask her why 1/5 of Americans cannot find the United States on a map.

How old was Miss Teen South Carolina?

  • SHE DOES NOT LOOK PUERTO RICAN!!!!!!

  • aw she is so cute

  • wow that's amazing!!

  • Both of her parents are speech pathologists.. its not wonder she is so smart at such a young age.

  • spelt is not a word

  • Well it is, just not the way it as probably used. Spelt is a type of grain/flour. LOL.

  • I think that was obvious, except maybe not for you. LOL

  • Cookie lol so cute :D

  • perhaps a child prodigy in reading. people saying that she has autism or some other disease prodigys usually have difficulties with things that seem easy to people that arent a prodigy. or they have something or another wrong

  • mayb she has a disease where she learns at an amazing rate until a certain age then she can't learn anything at all.doctors should do a brain scan. but everytime something out of the ordinary happens there always has to be an explanation mayb she does have autism but mayb not. it makes me wonder y people can't except the fact that things out of the ordinary can happen all things shouldnt have an explanation. i admit 2 doing this 2

  • she's soooooooooo CUTE!!!

  • My nephew has Autism and also read at an early age, but that little girl didn't seem Autistic to me.

  • thats crazy that kid is smarter then me lol

  • no youtube by then...lol

  • The mother is so full of it! Typical bullshitting parent that thinks her kid is special in some way. -puke-

  • Her parents are speach pathologists.

Her ability to read was taught to her with much dedication by her parents. They must have invested countless hours "training" the child. It's a learned technique, not genius lol

  • Well, at least she'll know that "speech" is written "ee" and not an "ea"

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha wow

  • thank you, thank you

  • Speech pathologists help people with speech, not reading. They said they didn't teach her, remember?Oh , I guess that was another video

  • I'm wondering if she understands what she's saying. Accoring to Piaget, she doesn't.

  • Did they have TV then?

  • whats even cuter is that she is smart but still behaves like someone her age should. she is cute and smart.

  • she is so cute!!!!!!!!

when I have kids I'm going to immediately educate her

  • WOW!

  • wow indeed

    this child has amazing potential.

  • I know lmfao!!

  • wow indeed

    this child has amazing potential.

  • Wow.

In a few years this little girl will laugh at people not being able to master SubTerra. Which includes me. :/

  • Well, she kept saying "cookie, cookie, cookie" towards then end until she found "If you give a mouse a cookie" behind her dad. So I'd say she understands.

  • she is very talented!!!

  • she is amazing and adorible.

  • This child will become a scientist, and create some sort of inter-stellar propulsion, and we'll discover something so great, this child, will rule the world then.

  • she can read at the age of 17 months. not solve equations.

  • good parents

  • she will cure cancer!

  • Omg!

I used to do that too when i was 18 months old. I passed a serious illnes and i was constantly at the hospital. My mother used plastic letters to take my mind off of all that and examples of words containing them. After some time i could read. My mum is very sorry that she didn't encourage me afterwards but at that time there wasn't much to do.

Keep up the good work with her cause she is gonna blossom. I can speak 5 languages and never had a day of course in my life!

    Brilliant child! :)

  • woah. amazing

  • As a Pre-K teacher of at-risk students, I have seen the damaging effects of parents who do not spend time with, talk to or read to their children. One of my kids could speak 5 words, "Mommy," "Daddy," "Restroom," my name and "F*&@ you." It is amazing and wonderful to see parents who work with their kids and have realistic expectations. I only wish more parents were like them.

  • Thats amazing, My sister did the same thing, with her children and from 6 months of age , was always reading to them, showing flash cards with words and pictures and my niece and nephew are above average children...I think if you put the time and effort into children and make it enjoyable, your children will blossom...And the little girl in the video is Brillant, very clever, full credit to her mother and father.

  • she is really the absolute cutest baby ive ever seen you keep itu p hun

  • she issssssssss great nd cute

  • that little girl is so cute!! gosh shes going to be smarter than me by time shes 2 and a half! lol

  • That baby is so darn smart...it's just amazing how smart she is!!

  • Wow.

  • Wow.

  • Why does every smart kid have to automatically be on drugs?

This is an exceptional child, and the parents should be applauded, not suspected!

    Great going mom and dad!!!

  • Totally amazing, the question is, when she can write? jeje...:)

  • hahahahah ur so rite i didnt notice that lol

  • yea...cocaine's cookie XD

  • Google "Hyperlexia"

  • Remarkable comment. Kids with this pathology have a normal development until they are 24 months. We`ll see whether this little girl is a genius or an autist, hopefully is the former and can give us an example to follow as parents.

  • Cite sources.

  • omg i put the thing on 3 31 and shes either just saying cocaine or she wants more cocaine

  • See the book she grabbed after she said that, she was saying cookie, not cocaine

  • your comment makes no sense.

  • thats cool i wish i could read when i was 17 or something like that.

  • My little brother is like that, hes got something called Hyperlexia xx

  • wow i wish i could do that when i was 1 lol

  • its impolite to spam
