Yeah, I grew up in a Baptist church. When I was probably around seven, I asked my dad, who was leading the Bible study, "How do we know this is true?" After the room giving non-verbal means of disapproval, my dad told me that we just do. I pressed a couple times further and received the same answer. This is one example of an endless list in my experiences, so I understand what you mean about not allowing critical thinking.

I do agree with this to a certain extent. I'm an ex-Mormon too, but I would have to disagree on a couple of things. (1) They don't hide their beliefs. For example, they don't hide the fact that they believe they can become Gods. They do however keep their temple rituals a secret (e.g. the handshakes and what not that go on in there). It creeped me out too but I was 15 when I went there. (2) They are not "anti-progress," they are unwavering, but if anything they adapt to recruit more people

After the room giving non-verbal means of disapproval, my dad told me that we just do. I pressed a couple times further and received the same answer. I do agree with this to a certain extent. I'm an ex-Mormon too, but I would have to disagree on a couple of things. (1) They don't hide their beliefs. For example, they don't hide the fact that they believe they can become Gods. They do however keep their temple rituals a secret (e.g. the handshakes and what not that go on in there). It creeped me out too but I was 15 when I went there. (2) They are not "anti-progress," they are unwavering, but if anything they adapt to recruit more people

The only reason he was held in jail so many times was due to technicalities and people stretching the rules to keep him there. No one was ever convicted of his martyrdom because they were unidentifiable and they had the support of the guards at Carthage Jail. And if you knew anything about the LDS church, you would laugh at the second half of your comment.

Joseph wasn't martyred by the Free Masons, I could find no reference to a "Masonic Death Code" anywhere (perhaps you simply have the name wrong), and Joseph was most certainly not a bastard, nor his murder funny.
Researching religion academically is not the same thing as trying to understand a belief system.

I am 17 years old, I've been a member my whole life, I attend every sunday, go to a morning church class called seminary at 6am every school morning, and then church wednesday nights, and on saturdays we sometimes do service for the community. @63emmz The active membership of the LDS Church has declined all but one year since 2002. It brobably won't be destroyed in our life time, but it certainly won't exist in the same form as it does today. Once enough people realise the reality of Mormon falshood they will change forms to be a more general Christian church. Until that day, I will continue to help those who will listen to get out and salvage the rest of their lives. I have personally helped many remove their names.
