@isleytoatlantis Well she put you in your place how you can even begin to compare the virtually one hit wonder Al Green with the Bee Gees is beyond me, give us the facts how many number one singles did Al Green have? how many songs did he write for other people? how many massive selling albums did he write and produce for other artists? has he had a hit in every decade? did he have 5 of the top selling singles in the Billbapoard Chart? It is you that is the idiot here not her!
@isleytoatlantis I knew when you started a sentence with"But" that the education system had failed you, and your pathetic attempt to traduce my comments has made you look very foolish! Shall we start with the facts? the Bee Gees are the 2nd most prolific songwriters in history and the 5th biggest selling act of all time! They had had massive success all over the world at the age of just 17! Barry Gibb is the most successful songwriter/producer of all time. You vacuous simpleton!
The Bee Gees make Al "wife beater" Green look like a novice, all he had was a couple of hits in the 70s then the parasite had to rely on others peoples songwriting ability, as is the case here, the incredible brothers Gibb!
bee gees might of sold more records that dosnt mean shit look at the crap bands these days who sell loads this guy is a better singer than all the bee gees put together
This is one of the FEW etertainers that is STILL drawing crowds after 40 years in show business--and the tickets are about 300 bucks--yet people will pay it! Bee Gees did a great job, and they get credit for all they wrote, sang, and accomplished, but my vote today is for Al Green. Granted, this live performance was not the best rendition I've ever heard of this, but if you ever listen to the studio recording of it, you may agree that he did a wonderful cover of the Bee Gee's song.
Why come on here to cuss Al? Never mind How Can You Mend A Broken Heart? How can you defend the Bee Gees and be homophobic? The Bee Gees write & sing great songs. Al Green writes and sings great songs. Enough idiocy! It's like comparing bourbon to red wine. What's the point? Egotistical commentators stop with the dumb twaddle.

Al Green=average singer, average musical ability, nowhere near as good as Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, or Otis Redding, the last songs I remember him by were in the early 70s, apart from this song, he has done nothing too special for yonks.
@yjuana I am quoting facts! the Bee Gees held the number one spot in billboard top 100 for 27 weeks, with songs they had written and produced! they had six songs from one to six in the top 100! six number one singles in a row, written and produced by them, only the Beatles can match that! Rolling Stone magazine gave you writers opinions, nothing more than that! a few old hippies stoned round the table playing god! Look at the views this song attracts, far more than his own work! Go figure!
@TENRECORDS I agree with you the Bee Gees are the gods of music, they have written some of the most amazing songs I have ever heard, to be reduced to being personal and rude about the surviving brothers just shows you that yjuana had lost the debate.Typical of someone that lacks education to resort to playground insults, ignore him...he is a contentius simpleton.

I'm obviously from a different planet than you are. You speak of harmony and I don't disagree. Al Green is a solo artist. Harmony cannot be a point of comparison. @yjuana Wow how very droll! I think you missed the point here, it has been pointed out to you that the Bee Gees have written and recorded songs from every genre, and with huge success too. @yjuana They threw more songs away than Al ever wrote, he is just a musical parasite, and this song revived his long forgotten career, the Bee Gees are the 2nd most successful songwriters in history! @slugman2000 If you understood context (or at least English) you would know that I was only talking about a singing voice. I never questioned the ability of the Brothers Gibb as either songwriters or singers. I simply expressed the opinion that Green was a better SINGER.

@yjuana A better singer? what planet are you from? I listened to a 2 hour documentary about the Bee Gees last night, and all the studio technicians, producers were in complete raptures over the Bee Gees vocal harmony! Even George Martin who produced the Beatles raves about their vocal ability, they have sung every genre, soul, country, pop, rock, dance, reggae too. I can understand you saying youprefer Al Green as a vocalist, but to announce that he is a better singer makes you look foolish.
@MrZoology This Bee Gees song revived Al Greens flagging career, he sings the song, but his overcooked vocals spoil the beauty of the song, too much vocal swagger, complete overkill!
@410missmonkeyful I agree with you, Al Green looks like a cruise ship singer next to the Bee Gees, their vocals are beyond parity, everysong Al sings sounds the same to me.
@410missmonkeyful The Bee Gees had enjoyed more success by the time they were 18, sold more records, written more songs, than Al Green had in his entire career.

I'm not saying I agree; but those of you quoting experts and documentaries might want to check this out:
Rolling Stone Magazine released a list of "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" in November 2004.
Al Green ranks twice in the top 100 and again at 117 and again at 293 (a total of four).
The Bee Gees don't come in until 189 and again at 366 (a total of two). I didn't write this list; Rolling Stone Magazine did.
Go figure...
