I think this is beautiful. I think the sopranos should have been a bit softer so the harmonies could be heard a bit better. That's what makes this piece so amazingly beautiful. Other than that, wonderful.

By far the best performance I have seen on youtube. However the conductor did take some discretion in the piece. I love this piece, my choir went on tour to Poland in spring of 2008 and sang this at Auschwitz.

I disagree with Melissa, my chamber choir did this exact arrangement and we took it at about the same speed. It allows for a much more varied sound and the crescendos and decrescendos are much more pronounced. This choir does a GREAT job! Awesome sound.

I must say, I was at this performance, as I am a St. Olaf freshman and a member of the Viking Chorus which sang two groups after this, and I was amazed at the quality of this group. This was the first I had heard this piece and the first I had heard this choir, and it was definitely a great first impression for both.

This is indeed a high school choir. This is the high school i graduated from. Northfield, MN has a legacy of producing world renowned choirs whether it be St. Olaf or the children of NYC (Northfield Youth Choirs) or the Northfield High School Concert Choir. The town has a reputation to live up to.
