But, when it comes to covers of his great song, I think that Hermes House Band's version cannot be beat! I also think that this song really shines with a woman singing the lyrics. I love this song so so much. Hermes House Band rock. I loved them when I was little I still do. They always played this song on my Friday lunchtime disco and my Christmas discos and Christmas parites at my school. John Denver hated being forced into a stylistic box - he wanted to make music for the sake of making music. With that in mind, I do not believe he would have been offended by this at all. The reference to Lubbock is relevant, as Denver did attend Texas Tech, though people from Lubbock watching this video would have laughed at the lushness of the woods, much like they did at the Los Angeles mountains in the background of the "Lubbock bus depot" scene from "The Buddy Holly Story" docudrama. ^_^

Oh my, the Dutch have an interesting understanding of US history. West Virginia missed the Wild West era since it was already thoroughly settled a century earlier. Ahh... this totally gives you that essence of good old American living. Like life back in the day lol.
