They stole pictures from fan art as well everything was re drawn and if you look at the animations they are soooo bad Jim looks awful. I think it's a shame that this game got canceled. At this height, who the fuck cares for cartoon animation or not? The PSP needs good games. Ports or remakes or new ones, and EWJ, even though not a big favorite of mine, is indeed a good game. The present generation of gamers need a few lessons on games from the times when C-S and WOW weren't around.
It's a good thing this was canceled. I remember interviews with the guys doing the PSP version, they all looked like meth addicts (that's not internet hyperbole, either). This video shows a game that looks like it was created by people who have never made a videogame before in their entire lives.

There was also supposed to be a 3d-2d game made for the xbox and ps2 that also got canned. Some of it's concepts sounded cool enough like Rome being constructed out of cheese and having to fight some kind of monster in the fondu coloseum

Earthworm Jim should always be in 2D. If another is made, it should be high-def 2D sprites. None of the characters shown have their original over-the-top cartoony feel. Throwing in some random boing and whoosh noises to go along with character actions does not a cartoony game make.

Uh, yes they are. Warioland Shake it is on the Wii, SF2 HD is on the XBLA, Blazblue is on XBOX 360 and PS3. It was on Sega CD. That version had the best music by far quality was so nice. I think the genesis might have been the second best in sound quality oddly enough I don't think the SNES was as good, but it may have had an extra stage in the game I'm not sure. I know the CD version had sevral extra levels though.
yeah but the 3d sidecrolling games are the ones better, not all the 3d games, for example castlevania aria of sorrow is way better than any 3d castlevania...
Glad they didn't released this version, these graphics look good, but still not doing justice to the incredibly colorful animation and shape the cartoony style had. It's not an easy task to model the 3D and animate something as organic and funky as EWJ, I would say is one hell of a challenge for any 3D artist.
Life is hit, get used to it. This ain't the first good tittle that got cancelled. Unseen64 is full of them. It'd be cool if the developer finished the product and released it in an .ISO format for free or for a price, something like a digital download. By looking at the video you can see that the game is nearly finished. It's a waste to let it get forgotten.
I like some of the features, but I think I agree on the flaws. Not only is Jim too skinny, this goes too far with making it a bit happy with all thise noises, like at 00:17 .
Also, this reimagining thing needs to stop...make a sequel! Reimagining is a cover up for not just making an enhanced remake with some extra gameplay features, graphics and areas. It's to remake on the same focuss of making a sequel and the one in a life time event gets sent to crap. The Bionic commando remake was great.
If this hadn't stopped being a thing or anything, I would have a reason to still play my PSP.

kinda neat, but Earthworm Jim is the last game that should be 3D rendered, the whole point of the game was that it was like playing a cartoon.

Earthworm Jim should always be in 2D. If another is made, it should be high-def 2D sprites. None of the characters shown have their original over-the-top cartoony feel. Throwing in some random boing and whoosh noises to go along with character actions does not a cartoony game make.

Once. how you managed to interpret that out of me saying the EWJ sprites were good, a realistic EWJ experience is silly, and when playing EWJ you check realistic expectations at the door is beyond me. Do you even realize that with next gen gaming systems, Sprites are looking better than ever? SF 2 HD Remix, Blazblue Calamity Trigger, Warioland Shake it, all games with very high quality sprite graphics.

I DID NOT, FUCKING, SAY THAT EJ HAD TO BE REALISTIC. I said realistic expectations, as in NOT expecting a fucking 16-bit game on a fucking PSP. The games you described used HD drawn sprites, but NONE of those are on a console. The PSP and DS were made for 3D on the go, which is why EJ was like this.

Uh, yes they are. Warioland Shake it is on the Wii, SF2 HD is on the XBLA, Blazblue is on XBOX 360 and PS3. Many DS games still use sprites or cell shaded graphics although your PSP comment is correct. No I did not say it once. You just didn't understand what I said. By "you check realism at the door" I meant that it's a game that does not take itself seriously and is known for having crazy out there gameplay and themes.

Dude, nobody wants to play a shitty 3d Remake of Earthworm Jim, they want to have the sweet 16-bit console version on the go. Which is why the GBA remakes sold more than a dozen copies unfortunately. Besides, The best games on DS are only 2-d sprites with a incredibly small amount of 3d effects on the side. Contra 4, Kirby Canvas Curse, Lots of other ones.

1. I am not a graphics whore, but the argument in the first place was that this should have been in 16-bit which is a pathetic argument.
2. It was on a 16-bit cartridge. Not CD-quality at all. We're talking about Megaman, which had no voice clips.
3. 8-bit is bleeps, like it or not.
4. Dumbass, cel-animated sprites ARE 3D. The sprites in this video are 3D as well.

It was on Sega CD. That version had the best music by far quality was so nice. I think the genesis might have been the second best in sound quality oddly enough I don't think the SNES was as good, but it may have had an extra stage in the game I'm not sure. I know the CD version had sevral extra levels though.

Glad they didn't released this version, these graphics look good, but still not doing justice to the incredibly colorful animation and shape the cartoony style had. It's not an easy task to model the 3D and animate something as organic and funky as EWJ, I would say is one hell of a challenge for any 3D artist.

Life is hit, get used to it. This ain't the first good tittle that got cancelled. Unseen64 is full of them. It'd be cool if the developer finished the product and released it in an .ISO format for free or for a price, something like a digital download. By looking at the video you can see that the game is nearly finished. It's a waste to let it get forgotten.

I like some of the features, but I think I agree on the flaws. Not only is Jim too skinny, this goes too far with making it a bit happy with all thise noises, like at 00:17 .
Also, this reimagining thing needs to stop...make a sequel! Reimagining is a cover up for not just making an enhanced remake with some extra gameplay features, graphics and areas. It's to remake on the same focuss of making a sequel and the one in a life time event gets sent to crap. The Bionic commando remake was great.
