I think if you are going to list a boss on here, you should list all forms of that boss (or at least all the forms that you fight consecutively). Sephiroth had two forms previous to that one which you fight one after another without a break. I'm not saying the 3rd form wasn't a dandy dandy pushover, I'm just saying...
Not speaking as a fangirl, Sephy can be a little bit of a pain if you're severely underleveled. But I'm talking about his one winged angel form. Other than that, I think your logic makes sense.
You should play FFX if you haven't and then put Yu Yevon from it to your list.
He's not as easy as good ol' Sephy here, but you can't lose against him unless you inflict yourself with such status effects as petrification. Your party has auto-life on them at all times, and the boss can't kill you unless it's low on health so that it gets access to Ultima. And even then, you'll just get revived. The second easiest final boss in FF history.
No wonder Braskas final aeon is considered true final boss
@Pyhankoski I don't know. While the battle can take just one turn, ill-prepared players may be tempted to reset the Playstation 2 and reload. I can't see this happening with the other ones where it's possible to get a game over even when ill-prepared for an easy battle.
Still, Yu Yevon should have been at least an honorable mention.
@peanut3423 Actually, if you cheat to get Omnislash before the fight with Sephiroth AND get the Knights Of The Round summon, ALL the final battles with Sephiroth are easy.
Using the term "overrated" so overrated. (HINT: PC users press the "see all" option above comment box then hit the keys "Ctrl + F" and search the word "overrated")
@GlaciusX2 >.> what are you talking about? Safer Sephy was a wuss to. and no, I'm not talking about using Knights or Omni Slash, he's just not 'hard' like a last boss in an RPG should be
Now that I think about it, I think I died to Cloud N' Candy when I first play the game. Can't remember if I had almost no health left or my controller kept screwing up.
@TSH1787 I don't know if that is true. I don't rememberit ever doing that and I have beat that game 1000 times. lol Granted I usually just use normal shots for metal man cause he is a joke. You just stand still, jump to dodge blades and spam shoot. lol
If the fight with Sephiroth isn't suppose to be a real boss fight then why didn't they just make it a cut scene so it wouldn't be a big waste of time. This is lazy programing and you know it, fanboys.
@SpikeJet2736 If the fight with Fortune in Metal Gear Solid 2 wasn't meant to be a real boss fight, it should have been done in a cutscene. Lazy programming!
@SpikeJet2736 If the fight with Negative Man in Earthbound wasn't meant to be a real boss fight, it should have been done in a cutscene. Lazy programming!
@SpikeJet2736 Naturally, I can go on all day with this, but in the end the point is that these boss battles weren't meant to be hard in the first place, they get their significance from being symbolic. If you'd played Final Fantasy 7, you'd see that the fight in this video was not the actual final boss Sephiroth, as that fight is much harder. That you'd even attempt to accuse SquareSoft of having lazy programming in any of their Final Fantasy titles is just arrogance at it's finest.
@ChocoboDreams It is kinda lazy. Regardless of symbolism, they gave him a stage, set the tone, raised him up, and you fought "Him". Fake-out bosses are common, but are still considered bosses. So what if he's not the final boss, the fact is he is still "A" boss. It could have been done in a cutscene, as he said. How symbolic is Mysterio, Old King Coal? Some bosses (Like OKC) are easy because dev's didn't calculate certain weapons correctly; errors in development, nothing more.

I will be fair, and say this. the last sephiroth battle is at least a boss fight.. i mean it IS sephiroth, even if it is only the embodiment of the dark powers of jenova in cloud's mind. i remember in FFX, you defeat Braskas Final aeon and you finally ends up in a fight with Yu Yevon. Oh, the final boss!! ...then you realize that you have completely Autolife on you and cannot die :/ so in my opinion thats the easiest final boss in any game ever. On the other hand , FFX have one of the most difficult optional bosses ever: Penance. But thats a different story..
@Reyalamor the main thing here is grinding, and i was pretty low level when i fought sephiroth and i was at a good level for garland and i had more problems on garland and no problems on sephiroth
i never got to the end of FF7, but is it really just a one hit kill to kill Sephiroth? or is there some huge battle before that, and then thats just a quick little ending fight?

that was easy
2- In earthworm jim 2, the fight is more epic, and funny, for some reason i think that you should fight with the muscle cat that serve to the fish, but the point of the game is being funny
So the last phase of the Sephiroth fight is the easiest? What about the earlier part? That's just the finishing blow, not the fight. Talk about ruining a fantastic game you idiot.
@GinkgoPete True. I still stand by my argument that FFVII is the most overrated game in the franchise, but I still consider it a very GOOD game. It's by no means the best, though.
@iLickForFr33 Calm down. I never said FFVII was a bad game. Plus, saying that any of the Final Fantasy games are the best in the series is still relative.
@iLickForFr33 It's all a matter of opinion. I didn't care for FF8 much; why? Because the junction system was implemented terribly, as well as other things. That said, FFX has a strong chance of being my favorite, with both FF7 and FF9 tied following it. FF9 had a way of making each character unique, battle-wise, in a way that the two before it didn't, and it simply made it's gameplay more perfected in my opinion (especially learning abilities from weapons).
@Disembow1280 I think you mean over-hyped, in which case I'd agree. Coincidentally, I was just about to pop FF7 back into my PS2 before I got my hands on Kingdoms of Amalur, because I've just been feeling that urge to re-experience it. FF7 sold itself in many ways, and while it's graphics aged terribly over time (unlike FF9), I feel the game makes up for it through other means (like it's soundtrack, gameplay, and overall atmosphere). Point is, while fanboyism is annoying, FF7 is simply timeless.
@ChocoboDreams It was because it was overhyped that it was overrated, so in this case, the two terms are synonymous. Please understand that just because I consider FFVII to be overrated, doesn't mean that I don't enjoy it. I just don't consider it to be the best Final Fantasy of all time.
@Disembow1280 It's not over-rated, though. While the game is hyped far too much, the majority of that hype is justified when concerning what the game actually brings to the table. You're free to your own opinion of course, and you're free to have your own favorite (while I prefer a lot of things FF9 did, I do like FF7 more overall, as it simply has a more gripping story). FFX brought a huge amount to the table, though, and it's a bit unfair because it came in the next generation
@Disembow1280 Note, also, in my own personal opinion, I didn't like most of what Final Fantasy did before FF7. I understand FF6 potentially has the best story in the series, but it's bogged down for me by the terrible way they handled sprites on the SNES (I much preferred games like Breath of Fire II and Tales of Phantasia). I've never really been big on the battle screen in particular, in which you have the midget sprites that are your party, and the huge detailed still images for enemies.
@ChocoboDreams I've always been a fan of sprite battle screens because it was what I had when I was a kid (I never had the luxury of owning a PS1.). I guess childhood memories really affect future expectations; I found the sprites for the SNES to be a huge breath of fresh air compared to the NES.
@Disembow1280 Well, like I said, I do love sprites as a whole, I just don't like Final Fantasy's sprites. :3 It's a matter of proportion-ism I guess. The first SaGa Frontier game suffered from the same thing (though it was fixed in the second). Games like Breath of Fire II and Chrono Trigger handled their sprites much better. True though, Final Fantasy isn't the only game that went the direction they did when it comes to sprites though, I remember other games that were similar. I think.
You should have included the boss from FFVII that's in the cave in the Cosmo Canyon. he is the easiest boss ever. throw him an x-potion or pheonix down and he is dead.
@Zodia195 Sephiroth in KH1 is only intimidating, and in KH2 he's a full on chump. Even when you get hit by his Sin Harvest. Hell, he's the most fun boss I've ever fought. I could never get tired of fighting him. :D
@liukang0221 what the hell is Sin Harvest.... do you mean HEARTLESS ANGEL? the attack that brings your hp to 1 and eliminates your mp? that is Heartless Angel, an attack used by Bizzaro Sephiroth in ff7 (and other enemies in games before) that reduces all party members HP to 1.
@sephirothjenova999 Yes. Sin Harvest = Heartless Angel. in KH1 and 2 whenever he teleports away and begins to use that power he always says: "Sin Harvest....Heartless Angel".
Since I've never really played Final Fantasy games, I always assumed that both names were the same power.
@liukang0221 nah, that was jsut Lance Bass being a tard. he actually says Sense the Heartless Angel. and, sorry if i was an ass in that first comment :3 didnt mean it quite that way.
i view sephiroth as an event boss rather than an actual boss because it's impossible to lose against him. he's like nyx in persona 3. once you defeat his avatar and go face nyx himself, it's just an interactive cutscene.
What about Death or Dracula from Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest? You can run right past Death, and if you keep using the fire on Dracula he can't even move.
Strictly speaking, the Golem Overlord doesn't kill itself. It merely teleports away, and is never seen or heard from again. (Except in a New Game +. In which it does exactly the same thing.)
The problem with #1 isn't the fact that it can be considered a cut scene. Even assuming it is a boss fight, the fact is, that there are many many more battles like this in video games, especially in RPGs. They are called event battles - they are battles with predetermined outcome. If that battle deserved the #1 spot, than that means it shares it with dozens of other games.
The reason Seph is number 1, is that you do NOTHING and you win. the timer runs out, he attacks, you counter and Seph dies. The Goldfish from Earthworm Jim...requires you to touch the controller. Thats why he's number 2.
I remember fighting Sephiroth. I thought this fight was a fight of reflexes. I believed that if I don´t attack him as quick as possible I´m gonna die I mean that guy was powerful enough to summon a huge meteor and stronger as some of the Weapons like Ultima.
Don't get me wrong, I love Square Enix and the Final Fantasy series. Buuuuut...they do have an annoying habit of making the final boss(es) easy that the previous ones (i.e. FFX. Evrae gave me more trouble than Seymour Omnis,Jecht, the aeons, and Yu Yevon combined) For those it troubles...JUST USE VALEFOR'S ENERGY BLAST
i got to 4:18 and shouted "WADDEL DEE!" out loud. Now, Im thinking.... "I'm talking about waddle dee. To lose to this guy, you actually have to TRY to lose. AND THE BEST WAY TO BEAT HIM IS WITHOUT A POWER." If i ever make a list of easiest bosses, Waddle Dee's already got #1
It's true. Squre Enix made it so that you actually could NOT, I REPEAT NOT, lose to him. Plus, did you see what damage he did to Cloud? 334. I've seen FF3 bosses deal 9999 to me! And none of them were the final boss!
the Golem Overlorl was kind of a 'lol' boss from the developers. IIRC earlier in the game he was one of those "you must lose to this boss" bosses, and then the devs threw him in just as a joke later. the hardest boss in the game becomes the easiest

I actually think the easiest boss is a tie between Bob the Goldfish and Sephiroth.
Bob the Goldfish can't hurt you but you need to move your controller.
Sephiroth CAN hurt you but you don't need to use your controller.

what about negative man from mother 3?
TheTeunski 3 weeks ago
10: Reptile much?
9: Haven't played Mega Man 2 yet...but I seen quick kills.
8: Haven't played
7: That's kinda weird.
6: Slow as a pile of rocks: ;D
5: Complete waste of time.
4: At least they showed a little love to Waddle Dee
3: Even more of a waste of time than #5
2: He's a goldfish, they don't do much.
1: This is more like a cutscene than a boss.

well at least sephiroth can give you damage

You should have included the boss from FFVII that's in the cave in the Cosmo Canyon. he is the easiest boss ever. throw him an x-potion or pheonix down and he is dead.

X-potion: Guranteed death, phoenix down = hit/miss

Boy, and to think that Sephiroth becomes an extremely hard boss in other games. *Coughs kh 1 and 2*
Zodia195 3 weeks ago 39
@Zodia195 Sephiroth in KH1 is only intimidating, and in KH2 he's a full on chump. Even when you get hit by his Sin Harvest. Hell, he's the most fun boss I've ever fought. I could never get tired of fighting him. :D
liukang0221 2 weeks ago
@liukang0221 what the hell is Sin Harvest.... do you mean HEARTLESS ANGEL? the attack that brings your hp to 1 and eliminates your mp? that is Heartless Angel, an attack used by Bizzaro Sephiroth in ff7 (and other enemies in games before) that reduces all party members HP to 1.
sephirothjenova999 2 weeks ago
@sephirothjenova999 Yes. Sin Harvest = Heartless Angel. in KH1 and 2 whenever he teleports away and begins to use that power he always says: "Sin Harvest....Heartless Angel".
Since I've never really played Final Fantasy games, I always assumed that both names were the same power.
liukang0221 2 weeks ago
@liukang0221 nah, that was jsut Lance Bass being a tard. he actually says Sense the Heartless Angel. and, sorry if i was an ass in that first comment :3 didnt mean it quite that way.

@Zodia195 EXACTLY HE KILLS ME IN 2 HITS ON KH2 AND MY HP BAR IS HUGE IT'S ON THE COMMAND BAR

@Zodia195 He's not hard in KH2? Just KH1... He's no biggy in Kh2 compared to Kh1...
BlazyToast 1 week ago
Uh, I don't think Sephiroth was meant to be a boss, really just an awesome moment in the game where Cloud royally kicks his ass.
SickBritKid 3 weeks ago
@SickBritKid
even whit that they could just take a cutssecene instead of a battle, because even a counter can kill him,and that counter wanst that epic...
MGame3 3 weeks ago
@MGame3
Which is why I always Omnislash him, because THAT is epic.

I'm surprised that the goldfish wasn't number one.
Sly88Frye 3 weeks ago
i view sephiroth as an event boss rather than an actual boss because it's impossible to lose against him. he's like nyx in persona 3. once you defeat his avatar and go face nyx himself, it's just an interactive cutscene.

I dont think Mysterio from Spiderman 2 counts as a real boss battle because he does not even try to fight you.
Same with Leader from the Hulk game. the fish from Earthworm Jim and that guy from Fable.
The opponent must try to kill you to count as a boss.

question on sephy. what about healing spells hm?
Lockerdown3 3 weeks ago
The VII fight is just a scripted battle, it's not a "fight".
It's symbolism, more than anything.
But I accept that logic, to an extent.
AzumangaFan13 3 weeks ago
FF12's Tonberry boss fight in the beginning. lol
LaharlD2 3 weeks ago
Also, thanks to GarlandTheGreat, Sephiroth also dies from Cloud stealing from him.

FF7 and 10 sure had nice non-final boss final bosses. . .
I'll take Neo-Exdeath and Necron any day lol
HeWhoEnjoysTehVids 3 weeks ago
I know its the first level, but my favorite funniest boss battle happens to be in Earthworm jim 2, when you actually EAT bob the gold fish.

What about Death or Dracula from Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest? You can run right past Death, and if you keep using the fire on Dracula he can't even move.

what is the name of the song that is played during the intro?
spartancolonel 3 weeks ago
Strictly speaking, the Golem Overlord doesn't kill itself. It merely teleports away, and is never seen or heard from again. (Except in a New Game +. In which it does exactly the same thing.)

I like how when you kill Lucien, the tips bar at the top is just like, "Hey, buy furniture!"
CookieNinja12 3 weeks ago
The problem with #1 isn't the fact that it can be considered a cut scene. Even assuming it is a boss fight, the fact is, that there are many many more battles like this in video games, especially in RPGs. They are called event battles - they are battles with predetermined outcome. If that battle deserved the #1 spot, than that means it shares it with dozens of other games.
Darkdestroy 3 weeks ago
Haha I love that Mysterio fight in Spider-man 2, his health bar is the biggest in the game and he dies in one hit xD
Fenrirmaster30 3 weeks ago
The reason Seph is number 1, is that you do NOTHING and you win. the timer runs out, he attacks, you counter and Seph dies. The Goldfish from Earthworm Jim...requires you to touch the controller. Thats why he's number 2.
PokeH0bbes77 3 weeks ago
it's jut a flesh wound!

#10 i just troll on him yesterday *trollface*
vadont 3 weeks ago
I remember fighting Sephiroth. I thought this fight was a fight of reflexes. I believed that if I don´t attack him as quick as possible I´m gonna die I mean that guy was powerful enough to summon a huge meteor and stronger as some of the Weapons like Ultima.

Don't get me wrong, I love Square Enix and the Final Fantasy series. Buuuuut...they do have an annoying habit of making the final boss(es) easy that the previous ones (i.e. FFX. Evrae gave me more trouble than Seymour Omnis,Jecht, the aeons, and Yu Yevon combined) For those it troubles...JUST USE VALEFOR'S ENERGY BLAST

golem lord doesnt "kill" himself, he just runs away

i got to 4:18 and shouted "WADDEL DEE!" out loud. Now, Im thinking.... "I'm talking about waddle dee. To lose to this guy, you actually have to TRY to lose. AND THE BEST WAY TO BEAT HIM IS WITHOUT A POWER." If i ever make a list of easiest bosses, Waddle Dee's already got #1
halfdragonAndawsum 4 weeks ago
It's true. Squre Enix made it so that you actually could NOT, I REPEAT NOT, lose to him. Plus, did you see what damage he did to Cloud? 334. I've seen FF3 bosses deal 9999 to me! And none of them were the final boss!
Gitimi 4 weeks ago
I was gonna say "What about the final boss with Sepriroth? It's impossible to lose to him!"...Then he popped up at no.1.
Niiice =)

How about Mr.House from Fallout: New Vegas?
acdcgame 4 weeks ago
the Golem Overlorl was kind of a 'lol' boss from the developers. IIRC earlier in the game he was one of those "you must lose to this boss" bosses, and then the devs threw him in just as a joke later. the hardest boss in the game becomes the easiest
