  • Great. Some of the greatest singing ever.

  • Great vocal range and talent. Her traditional attire reminds me of Queen Amidala from Star Wars episodes 4 & 5. I wonder if the SW production company garnered their ideas for hair and costumes from these and other related peoples?

  • @1955thekeeper Yes, Queen Amidala's dress and hair were inspired from Mongolian Khalkha Dress. Only married women were allowed to wear such hair style.

  • Ohh my ears

  • listenin to her makes me believe humans were made for something greater..a higher purpose

  • unheer saikhan bainaaa

  • Super Beautiful!!! I love Mongolia, the music, and the people!!

  • this song makes me feel close to home. Miss ma home.

  • She is GREAT SINGER.AMAZING SONG.AMAZING VOICE.

  • Mongolian version of opera. Text painting technique is revealed beautifully in the first song. As you listen, it reminds the hot dry summer day of Mongolian Gobi Desert, the clean sky, and the heating sun.

This type of traditional song is very reflection of Mongolian steppe, untouched, wild, and wide. There is no better picturing of Mongolian unsettled boundless land than listening to this piece sung by Norovbanzad.

  • This 5 dislike soooo jealous to her because of their voice!

  • you know what everyone can't sing this greatest song except Mongolians!!!!!!!

  • Gaihaltai

  • My native land

This, this is my native land The lovely country My Mongolia

  • She is the greatest.

  • WOW, amazing voice

  • love mongolia ,

  • Hi. Does anyone know what she's saying? I'm interested in knowing what she's singing about. Thnx

  • @lauriux82

She is singing two songs. The first is in slow rhythm and it is very rhetoric and the meaning goes like this. "There is sun, shining forever in this world; under this awesome sun, youth is short. If spent one's youth without wisdom, it is too late to turn age back once it is gone."

The second song is about the young woman's beauty and youth. The words are beyond my poetic skill to translate this master piece, but this is described so beautifully in Mongolian by D Ravzhaa.

  • @lauriux82 no english translation no english word to translate it from mongolia yeah it s the truth

  • barbari Song too hhhhhh

  • Hermoso!!!!

  • Hog gej

  • Гайхамшиг. өөр үг алга. Үнэхээр гайхамшиг

  • i love my mongolia

  • amazing.

  • awesome

  • Love it!

  • Anyone know what she's singing about?

  • @Jiyuu89 The first song is a praise to the Sun and accordingly called "Uyahan zambutiviin naran" (The Sun of This Gentle World). The 2nd one is called "Ulemjiin chanar" (Amazing Grace). It's about one's delight & appreciation when they see gracefulness & beauty of the loved one.

  • Sooo heart touching...

  • star wars taken idea from mongolian national clothe. i don't remember the princess who has the clothes like her.

  • She has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.

  • any comments from star wars fans?

  • Wow, that is so amazing

  • Гэртээ харих шиг боллоо

  • Аргагүй Уяхан замба тивийн наран юм даа. ДАВТАГДАШГҮЙ!!!

  • хөвж явах шиг мэдрэмжийг авлаа

  • I have no cultural ties to Mongolia, or any of its history, but I am brought to tears every time I hear this music, or maybe just this type of singing. So moving to me for some reason, as I cannot understand it. I love it.

  • Wonderful. Nothing to say. I love my country and culture. God bless Mongolia

  • I have the same opinions as "unapparatus". Her voice is somewhat impressive. Moreover I since years ago love the sound of "morin khuur" (and some performances on it) - that English named "horse-head fiddle", and not "horse-headhair cello" instead!

    Great post, man! Tnx.

  • This is the Mongolian ancient long-song. In Mongolia a lots of long-song singers like her, but she was the No 1,(she's passed away few yrs ago), but students of her, very good singers now

  • Her voice takes me to Mongolian wide steppe.

  • that's awesome. I like this way of singing very much.

  • That is impressive.

At one point I thought the sound was coming from the morin khur (think that is the right name) but it was her.

  • Mongolian humans heart voice

  • Is it true that she was like 80 something in this video?

  • wonderful song

  • Her song opened the epic documentary now displayed on youtube called home. Im not sure if it's her but it sounds pretty similiar. But either way, it's the most soothing thing I've ever heard. I do not understand the words. But Im sure I can reach a level of meditation with the music alone.

  • YES. I recognize her voice, as well !

  • Gaikhaltai, Mongolchuudaa Mongol bichig, Urtiin duu, Morin khuuraaraa goyotsgooyo!!!

  • @MrMadZzz Huumiigoo bitii martaarai :)

  • For people wandering where the inspiration for star wars costumes came from.

  • @Marioguyyy wouldn't surprise me at all if the the designers were looking at stuff like this.

  • mongolian rapper lolz joking she was the best singer!!!

  • this song made me fly over the rainbow so high

  • Saihan hun, gaihaltai duuchin baisan shuu. Bas hoorhon avgai shuu

  • Her elaborate, beautifully ornamented voice is matched only by her elaborate, beautifully ornamented clothing.

    This floors me.

  • i wish i couldve listened to this voice LIVE.

  • heaven on earth with this voice.

  • She is amazing.

  • LULZ

  • From what year is this footage? Looks like it's from an NHK special presentation.

  • NHK and National Museum of Ethnology jointly produced this video for about 30 years ago.

I think that it is not NHK special. However, a part of video might have been telecasted.

  • didn't realize that the woman to the right was singing at all.. looks too easy when she sings.. so effortless :p but I guess not many people in the world have a voice like that

  • so man are you doubting?

  • did i say that?

  • her vibration made my day, I felt so many thoughts inspiring my mind, it is AMAZING

    =)

  • i am sure that she is really good. I have trouble finding it pleasant sounding. Mind you i have not heard lots of world music.

  • Гайхам сайхан бичлэг байна.

  • Eternal voice.

  • omg goose bumps>>>shes really good

  • thanks for upload this

    great video

  • Simply Amazing. Sends shivers down my spine

  • I wish there would be more vids about her here on YouTube, her voice is amazing. It looks so easy but it is very difficult to sing like that.

  • It doesn't sound easy to me...!

  • sazji:

I know that it's not easy - it takes hard vocal training to sing in the style of the legendary Norovbanzad.

My last comment wasn't meant to be negative. :)

    Regards

    Robert

  • I really miss her. Our families were very close friends. Wonderful voice and sweet memories of my childhood. Wish happyness to her daughters and grandchild.

  • Yeah, such a amazing voice! She was a great talented singer. It's so sad that she is not here with us today.

  • She is amazing!!

  • No problem. Yes exactly. I learn German in Berlin. And then to the Uni.

  • ^^ za means ok. Tiim=yes bi=I hun=jin=person.

  • Thanks ! I love to her all songs,, Especially ` Uyakhan zamba tivin naran` .. Do you speak in Mongolian?,, why Are you interested in our culture and this kind of Music ( voice) ?

  • >why Are you interested in our culture and this kind of Music

I don't know why. Just Interesting.

  • She would hit the highest notes .World should learn URTIIN DUU (translating long song is wrong I think.OVERTONE SONG is best ) First song is called uyahan zambitiviin nar=Sun of the peacefull world.Everybody knows opera singers have high pitches but in terms of mongolian overtone singers they have much more ,unbelievable highest pitches to hit. They have their own styles individually. She was the best singer we ever known.

  • Your transration is very good about song title . but,

Urtiin duu is not Overtone. It is another style.

Urtiin duu is a meaning of "Long song" in a Mongolian language. also, bogino duu is a meaning of "Short song".

There is a style of the song "Long song" also in Japan, and it looks like Urtiin duu well.

  • thanks responding me.i am not professional musician just a amateur.a couple of years ago group of singers visited to uk and were called overtone singers then I thought it is suitable name.If overtone is diff style so I have no objection about that. Are you mongol or not? anyawy you have knowledge about folk songs, morin huur. But I still dont like name long ,short.Actually foreigners think LONG SONG is very long finished song and very few have idea high ,low notes ,pitches ,wide range breaths etc.

  • Oh,you are Mongolian Singer.

We wish to express our gratitude for this encounter.

The point in the question is a translation.

I recommend you to find (Wikipedia,Google...) urtiin duu or long song.

  • Thanks! This voice is amazing!

  • goldig, weine ich fast ..... himmels Stimme

  • sonsood taivshrav

  • This person is a Mongol person. Her name is Norovbanzad. She is a great singer in mongolia. But she is now dead.

  • This is really azaming voice. The voice has so high pitch even the volume is low.

Special note for this Japanese dude:

I've never seen any Jap singer who can generate that much high pitch sound.

  • Jap?Dude?

You must choose words carefully more.

There is a high-pitch singer in Japan but, such a style that is not popular.

By the way, are you from the Mongol so can you long song to sing?

    also Khoomii? play Morinkhuur?

  • My comment was for osakagaidai. His comment says "cute sound".

You'd better call it, Mongolia. I guess it's same thing if you're asked "you are from Nippon"

I don't sing a song. Do you play Min'yō folk music? Also, can you play taiko?

  • I have already been performing morinkuur for five years. My repertoire is a tradition tune of some Mongolia.

Of course, I know the folk song of Japan. Because my aunt was a "shamisen" player of a Japanese long song and short song .

  • Oh you are japanese .Nice to acknowledge that foreign person interested in our culture.

  • Actually, his comment means something closer to "Lovely Sound".

  • 素敵な声です。
