I know this is old but hopefully you still check this. The only viable subjob I have for PUP leveled is SCH. Can you take PUP/SCH 1-90? Level is kinda as a melee/caster?
@blindsyde I'll be honest, I haven't played FFXI in close to a year now due to time constraints after I graduated college (And Starcraft 2 came out). However, I doubt much has changed on this.
PUP/SCH is, in my opinion and the opinion of many others, only good once you get access to sleep. You don't have the nuking power to make elemental spells worth using, you don't have the MP to make yourself a viable healer, and subbing anything but WAR, NIN, or DNC cuts too much into your damage output.
@guymontag5 I would suggest leveling DNC or NIN to 37 (er, 45?) if you're looking to solo a lot as PUP (I used to solo PUP/NIN a lot too) or WAR if you're just looking for the best all DPS subjob. Once you're at 75 though, defiantly think about getting your /SCH on, but it's just not a good choice for the initial level grind (unless something drastic has changed since stopped playing)
