Source euronews 19/2/12 - Over 20,000 dead greeks are claiming benefits from the state, VAT is virtually unheard off ..nobody pays it. Tim geithner, the yank treasury secretary bulliied the irish govt into repaying inept bank bondholders.Dumb irish Americans have sudenly lost their voice and pea sized brain cell.
@atma Yes he could ask why the Greek government of the day lied twice to their own people and the ECB about their deficit to get these loans. Thats why they are in trouble..borrowing beyond their means first it was 6% then a new government said the old government had lied it was actually 12.9% then a Greek auditor found it to be 15.6% and he was arrested and threatened with jail. Seriously when you commit fraud on that scale and your caught are you surprised things are going to be painful.
Answer the bloody question Klaus, Baba Nolan was seething, good man asking the questions held his ground well, they don't answer the question because they know they are robbing the poor to pay the RICH !! To pay their gambling debts.
It is inspiring to see we have an Irish Man like Vincent Browne there is hope for our country when you look at this there has to be more like him out there to speak out and and stand up against what we are being subjected to in IRELAND
I have a recommendation for Vincent: Why don't you ask them why we shouldn't be "allowed" to issue further representations of our own promissory obligations -- cutting "banking" out of the equation (and purportedly representative government)?
Respect to Vincent , but i cant help thinking its self inflicted and you should enjoy it , Gain your independence from the U.K only to sell out to Brussels.
The Army should be called in and re-take the Dail for the sake of our children...we are not going to go Hungry , we are not going to be homeless. It is simple as that , war is being waged against Ireland through financial Terrorism and it needs to be put down like a dog with rabies !!!
@biskalero It isn't only Ireland my friend. It is all of us. They are the real terrorists, there are no other terrorists but them. Make a list of these pricks, and watch for them in public. Then the rest is up to the public. I'm thinking to buy shares in rope myself ;)
Long live this country , fuck the EU,IMF AND GOLDMAN SACHS....they should be all hung by thier balls until they cry no more.....you reap what you sow boys !!
the email addresses of all TD's can be found on boards dot ie by seaching for say no to bond holders. Just cut and paste their email addresses into the bcc field in your email client and send. Get the message out - youtube, facebook, twitter, etc. Email all your friends and ask them to help.
We are depending on these people (ECB/IMF/EU) to keep us afloat financially and to keep us in the manner to which we have become accustomed. We spend 17 billion Euros more per year than we produce right now. The ECB/IMF/EU could ask us to change the national anthem to the Barney song and we would have to do it because we are in their pockets through our own poor governance.
Fucking wanker wouldn't answer the question but the real wankers are us the Irish people cause we just sitting back and taking it instead of making a stand and saying enough is enough !!!! Well done V B
good on ya vincent, very simple question WHY? and he cant even answer it?, people c'mon we are bieng screwed over left right and center, it's getting a tad rediclous and this only the 1st year of austerity hahaha ahh jesus we have really let ourselves go to shite, our financial system will fail no doubt about it
@theboyraz1 i know yea, its going to get crazy alri, here comes the new world order and the basterds are getting away with it, but not for long lots of people are waking up to this as they are bieng exposed day by day.. and then the media call conspiracy people crazy? when they are proved right so many times, fucking controlled media does my head in.
@GBYRNE123 yeah i know man haha, its that illuminati chit i think, read up on them chaps aswell... theres gonna be riots everywhere this year, theres already 40 wars worldwide out of how many countries? its a good 1/4 of the world at war man, fuked up chit
@theboyraz1 yea don't worry im dead wide to those fuckers haha crazy shit going on these days and fuck all people know is the worst thing although many ppl are waking up
As usual Vincent has all the questions and none of the answers - the government is made up of the two parties that won the most seats in the general election and if Vincent is unhappy then he can run in the next election in 4 years time - its called democracy
@TheConforever How long will this government last? Do you really believe they are in control. It is the bankers who run the show and party politics is a sham played out.
There is one simple reason why the Irish Government intends to pay all the bondholders.
Politicians, Public sector unions and the other elites in society do not want to piss off the IMF in case they come in and half their salaries. Simple as that. Those of us in the private sector don't care if the whole thing come crashing down as the reset button could be pressed and we could try and have a fairer society next time.
every body go to today fm .com they have an e mail set up to ask klauss to answer vincent browns question all you have to do is put in your e mail address it is a very well worded letter and hopefully enough people will do it so we can get a decent answer.
we are the laughing stock of europe, pain and misery on me the person who had nothing during the celtic tiger, who didnt borrow, who had no part except being a citizen of ireland,i had nothing then and have even less now,but heck apparently me my daughter and possibly following on to my grandchild will suffer for something we never had a hand in,SHAME on the irish government
WERE FUCKED LADS, WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO COME TO TERMS WITH ? were being made pay back 1.2bn in unsecured bonds to keep banks in other countries solvent ha ha ha were a laughing stock
I don't know what the fuss is about. He answered the question. 'This was a difficult decision MADE BY THE GOVERNMENT'. Our government made this decision. Take it up with them.
Why are our elected elite not asking these questions, and why are we not getting the answers?
It is not good enough and about bloody time we all stood up as a nation/people together againts this facism. It's the one thing the establishment are afraid of......
@bpmdnb because the elected elite and those before them allowed the Eire banks to borrow this money and signed off on it. And then failed to watch/regulate the economy/banks. I understand the anger but its mis directed, those who caused this mess got off.
KLaus the Kraut is a fucking condensending Nazi bastard, and that pig barbara needs her fanny welded closed with a kick...Bring back the RA and get rid of these intruders in our country...
@usamaoreilly Guys that a bit strong, Germany ran its economy well as opposed to the muppet show in Greece, Ireland and the UK.
A lot of germans are geting pissed off bailing out other countries, they cant give the money away for nothing. How would you feel if Ireland was asked to bail out Greece, would you give the money away for free.
@MrVultcher Ireland was Europe's poster boy when it came to running its economy, so you are just incorrect there, we hold no resemblance to Greece. the Germans had a beggar thy neighbor policy thats why they have been so successful. Germany isn't "Bailing" us out, its given us a loan with high interest rates, so that we can pay their banks back. How convenient. They get it back twice. It appears you don't know too much about economics or finance or the Irish economy.
@SuperGroundControl Name me a bank that lends money with absolutely no security required and if you default on payback they go " ah well, dont worry, forget about the loan". Nobody forced Eire to borrow beyond its means, that what governments are for to watch and guide the economy. Eire over stretched itself, look at the property prices in Dublin and Belfast... ridiculous 120% mortgages... was nobody awake. Like all credit ..you borrow a lot , live well for a while..then the repayments catch up
Yes Germany loaned money and charged interest..thats banking , so did the UK the mpney provided by the UK is also a loan that has to be paid back, to add insult to injury the UK borrowed the money from the chinese at X % added a few percent on for its own profit and then said Hi Eire, heres a loan....nice...
@MrVultcher You've just proved that you know nothing about economics, so there is little point in repeating myself. Either you are informed about the issues or you are not. And you are not. Just to let you know I personally find the word Eire insulting, I prefer republic of Ireland, and I suspect you may have your own anti-Irish issues. Best of luck on your one man crusade.
@MrVultcher I suggest if you truly want to inform yourself then you should check out the sites of two of the most popular economists in Ireland. They concern mostly Ireland but also the eurozone crisis in General. I can't attach the links but just look up :
@MrVultcher Ireland did a lot of good stuff, a simplified tax system, money spent in infra structure ( as opposed to the UK who pissed their oil revenues's away). But who was steering the economy when it came to over borrowing, who signed off on these bonds
@MrVultcher Look we are only being bailed out so as to pay rich greedy bastards who want new Ferrari s and country holiday homes while the rest of us are made to live in poverty...I heard an interview on BBC4 the other night with a life long investor to the markets(sorry his name escapes me) and he said when I reland got into trouble he expected as a capitalist to be at a loss..Then he said he heard the announcement from Brian Lenihan regarding the bank guarantee, and he was happy man
@usamaoreilly i have no doubt there are the greedy bastards etc..but there are also pension funds etc tied up in the bonds. people I know of NO bank or investor that will lend money with out some sort of guarantee or plan B, (i.e. if you cant pay the loan will be written off) if there is one please let me know I will transfere my mortgage etc across tomorrow. Money was borrowed - the good times rolled - now its payback time. Thats how it works.
Well we might aswell lick the hole of em because we do t have a Fucken clue what we're doing just look at what we left in power ha ha couldnt give a shit so long as we have money. And this nob is just another asshole with all the questions and none of the answers
You cant pay your mortgage? your house should be repossessed,You cant pay your bills?your services are cut off.You declare bankruptcy?good luck getting credit,or running a business,
You don't do your job, you get sacked.
You lose billions of euro? you get bailed out and get to start all over again.
You cant pay your mortgage? your house should be repossessed,You cant pay your bills?your services are cut off.You declare bankruptcy?good luck getting credit,or running a business,
You don't do your job, you get sacked.
Your lose billions of euro? you get bailed out and get to start all over again.
Look at the sneer throughout on the face of that Szekely bastard, these fucking scum should be run out of the country and warned that if they ever set foot on irish soil again that they will be buried in it.
@Kenmorfdublin the reason he is sneering is because he knows that we the irish people will do f**k all and he can do excatly what he likes / no wonder he is grinning like a chersire cat
The current emergency loans, with out them ATMs would dry up, no salaries would be paid and repossessions would be the order of the day, no food, no fuel, no electricity. If you feel strongly get the government to return the bailout. If so I'm off. There were un guaranteed bonds but default on those and then read the fine print, nobody lends money without clauses. Bail out on those and see how Ireland trades for imports etc.
We cant keep blaming everyone else, respective governments de regulated the banks and "greed is good "culture kicked in .Ireland did very well out of the EU and the money did help the country, new roads infrastructure etc. Would you rather Ireland never joined the EU ...where would be now sure no debt, but no country. When the Germans etc loaned the money during the boom yrs what were the terms of the bonds. In actual fact germany is trying to save Ireland etc.
There are three key issues being raised by Vincent Browne
1) UNGUARENTEED bondholders
2) DEFUNCT bank
3) Our (so called) PARTNERS in Europe (EU/EC/ECB)
VB is correct, we have been bullied into paying investors who invested in UNGUARANTEEDAnglo bonds. We have been treated appallingly by our so called "PARTNERS" in Europe. The problem with the banks has been shown to been European-wide, not just an Irish banking problem; in despite Merkel, Sarkozy and ECB doing their damdest to isolate Irl.
NO you did not addressed the question mofo!!! the Ecb are f&#&ing with all european countries.. giving money to banks and take it from the governments. and this is happening almost all over the place.
Brian Lenihan (and his colleagues) made a terrible mistake. (which is the understatement of many centuries) But lets not blame them entirely - they were given false information by the banks - they well led to believe that it would be the cheapest bailout in world history. The truth probably led to his death.
I can answer the question... because the ECB/IMF is propping up the Ireland with the money we need to run the country when the private sector has deemed us an unacceptable risk. They are entitled to attach conditions to ensure the safe return of their investment, which our elected leaders willingly agreed to and we are obliged to honor our commitments or face however many decades we may be deemed an unacceptable credit risk by international markets and the resulting economic devastation...
Guys consider the lenders, watching certain individuals in Eire hiding vast amounts of cash (using family and friends to hide assets) then declaring bankruptcy, "Oh that hotel.. thats the wifes" Then the Eire government gets the taxpayer to pick up the bill, criminals get raided by the CAB for the proceeds of crime, what about corrupt government and business. Chase those assets and reduce the debt. I read the minister of finance Brian Lenihan signed and faxed the bailout papers from a pub.
@MrVultcher These loans were for fueling a property bubble - German and French banks knew exactly what they were doing. Property bubbles are unsustainable, the banks took their chances because thats what they do and knew the risks, they cannot believe their luck. The bank they lent to no longer even exists, it happens every day that business don't get their money back when a business goes bust.
@SuperGroundControl Agree..so what guarantees did those French and German banks get from the government of the day, had the conditions been too risky I doubt the loans would have been made. Business is business in bankruptcy there is a pecking order creditors get priority...chaps the government of the day should be strung up for poor regulation, and the bank in question allowed to fail. also the German's banks probably could not believe what the irish gov were agreeing to sign
@MrVultcher Lets not forget a bank is a private business. They didn't share the profits with the Irish taxpayer, so why should they share the risk. Bonds are a different thing entirely, unsecured bonds are exactly that and you shouldn't get a penny.
@SuperGroundControl again I agree, so why did the Irish government agree to bail them out..were there conditions imposed by the french and germans when these loans were made.
@MrVultcher They came to him at nighttime, and told him that there wouldn't be enough money in the ATM the following morning. Instead of taking their time, they gave a blanket guarantee without knowing what was owed to whom. The loans that were given were like any other loans, the agreement was between two private institutions and didn't include anything like a bank guarantee. Thats what makes this so absurd.
Why are some talking about them defaulting on their mortgage. It's more like having everyone in Ireland pay some german guys mortgage after he has pissed his money away at some casino. Time people woke up, too many sheep.
If you borrow money...you have to pay it back, be it a country a private company or an individual.
Ireland enjoyed the good times, it was up to the Irish government to regulate its banking sector. English is not this chaps first language so perhaps he has difficulty with the grammer or Vincents strong accent but I could not see anybody being destroyed.
I'd love to ask my building society why i have to pay back my mortgage..I'd love to default and keep my house.
@richiehatchet but its still a loan or contract ( I assume the irish gov did read the fine print).. how many of you have pensions or savings, if I could default on my mortgage or business loan and you pension took a hit would you be happy.
@MrVultcher When you get a mortgage, its a guaranteed loan, meaning you put something against that loan and should you default on paying the loan the guarantee can be used to recoup the loss. The bonds were unguaranteed, meaning the knew the risk before buying the bonds, yet when the bonds were rubbished we are still paying those holders back the money. Basically we are paying back the Europeans billions on risks they took themselves.
@mooneygerry Even with a un-guaranteed loan but you still have a contract, you cant walk away from what you borrowed unless you declare bankruptcy even then your processions will be seized to appease creditors. Ireland has not declared bankruptcy thus there are funds available to honour the agreement. Nobody forced Eire to enter into this and borrow the money, I do feel the pain my business has been affected it was up to the elected government to run the country properly.
@MrVultcher Think of it this way, you do the lotto, and don't win, so you go back to the shop with the losing ticket and get your money back. The rest of Europe just lost out on the Euromillions, and the whole Irish nation are refunding the tickets.
@mooneygerry Its was not a lottery, It was a government/banking sector bond and the government is still running with assets. If the country collapses then the ECB could ask for Irish assets in lieu of payment.
So you agree that Ireland should pay for the whole of Europe taking the risk? It's not just Irish bonds we're paying for. I'm sure you agree if you or I made a bad investment and it went to the wall we'd end up paying for it ourselves. I'm not saying Ireland shouldn't pay at all, our government created the mess here, I just take issue with paying for France and Germany too.
@MrVultcher You're right it was not a lottery. It was more like a day at the horse races. One of the main premises of capitalism is "investments may fall as well as rise". Their investments (banks) failed and instead of allowing capitalism to do its job the Irish bank guarantee did just that - guaranteed the loses. That would be like a bookie paying you for backing a losing horse. And for what? To stabilize the markets? I think we all know NOTHING is stabilizing the markets.
@MrVultcher The UK government has done it to its citizens, this new EU "treaty" that the UK has excluded itself from wants to guarantee that if any European banks fail then the citizens of Europe will pay for it. This is anti capitalist and cannot be sustained. Capitalism is almost Darwinian in that only the strongest should survive. It would lead to a healthier system.
@SuperGroundControl The UK is not too healthy either its deficit is 4.8 trillion sterling (includes pension liability). Merkels Tax on the banking sector was to make the banks help pay for this mess, Camerons bosses - the UK banks did not like this idea. A healthy banking sector is good but it does require regulation.
@MrVultcher This is separate from the moral argument which is much more straight forward. Should the poor pay for the loses of rich peoples gambling? Regardless of what this press conference says, the IMF and the ECB do not agree - the IMF believe that the bondholders need to take a hit. The ECB is trying to save German and French banks. We should just let capitalism do its job, let the cycle end and start again. We have the pain with no light at the end of the tunnel of a new cycle.
@SuperGroundControl I agree why should the poor pay for those losses, there are plenty of poor in Germany whose pension funds are tied up in those un-guaranteed bonds. Guys had it being straight shares i agree that the nature of stocks and shares, up and down. But they were not they were loans/bonds. Should Ireland go in total collapse as Iceland did ..yes then those bonds are dead. But the Eire government ran this and bailed out the banks. Germany etc knows there is money /assets hidden.
Fair balls to Vincent..... Have we EVER, EVER seen an R.T.E. "journo" even come close to asking this kind of difficult question?? NO !!! And w.t.f. is this arrogant battle-axe Barbara Nolan anyway.... they'd all want to be fucked out of our bolloxed up country......And where were our Government reps for this press conference?? Hiding behind the Trioka, the gutless fuckers.....
If the Germans have no problem with the Irish paying their unguaranteed bondholders, can the Germans pay back all the money the Irish have pissed away on the Lotto over the years? It's the same idea and it's just as crazy.
Vincent Browne - the mad hermit of Irish journalism screaming in the wilderness and long may he continue. See how they tried to stop Vinnie from speaking the truth to our Eurotrash overlords? They don't like the truth in Ireland.
well done vincent,,,,its clear that those animals in the suits don't give a shit judging by the smiles on their faces,,,only military might or full non co-operation in their fraudulent financial system could take away the smile on that bastards face, where is superenda the spineless pig
look how preoccupied they are in protecting the pleb and trying to control the mic.
if only our government gave a shit about us and weren't so self serving, we'd be telling europe to go fuck itself. im tired of ireland being the good little lapdog.
@Kenmorfdublin No, don't let them out. It may be illegal to say what I would suggest so I'll leave it to your imagination. Cheers from a Spaniard in a quite similar situation. .... the bankers.
Remember the promise of the now health minister " I will tear down the tiers of Admin in the HSE, hundreds more positions have been made since, he decided instead to stop services, close ambulance stations, close community care nursing homes, close AE departments, So now we have a HSE administration with more admin and less services.
Unfortunately apart from the odd Journalist it seems they never seem to want to ask the awkward questions, if they did the papers would be full of the highlights of the empty promises made by the current political administration. Remember the great phrase of Enda "Not another penny will Anglo get", then got into power threw in billions more, and to add insult to injury pay bond holders too.
Good man Vincent Browne, its a pity we havent more people like you.
you take sh.t from no one all the rest too afraid to ask and put it up to these people.
we the ordinary people will have to wake up and fight back cause we cant take anymore.
also that nolan one who the f.ck is she tell her go back into her cave.
and one last thing,,,mr noonan would u ever take a slow boat to China with loads of holes in it u ass h.le,all these young people that have left this cause of the likes of you.
The only ones who are answering the hard questions is US in the fucking pocket. Its embarrassing how we as a nation are just sitting back and taking it up the ass!!
Would have been nice if even a few of the journalists either followed up his question or even showed some kind of support ( clap, here here etc....) . That bitch should be ashamed of herself trying to deflect his question
I have nothing but respect for Vincent Browne. Great man.

A lot of germans are geting pissed off bailing out other countries, they cant give the money away for nothing. How would you feel if Ireland was asked to bail out Greece, would you give the money away for free.
MrVultcher 1 month ago
@MrVultcher Ireland was Europe's poster boy when it came to running its economy, so you are just incorrect there, we hold no resemblance to Greece. the Germans had a beggar thy neighbor policy thats why they have been so successful. Germany isn't "Bailing" us out, its given us a loan with high interest rates, so that we can pay their banks back. How convenient. They get it back twice. It appears you don't know too much about economics or finance or the Irish economy.
SuperGroundControl 1 month ago
@SuperGroundControl Name me a bank that lends money with absolutely no security required and if you default on payback they go " ah well, dont worry, forget about the loan". Nobody forced Eire to borrow beyond its means, that what governments are for to watch and guide the economy. Eire over stretched itself, look at the property prices in Dublin and Belfast... ridiculous 120% mortgages... was nobody awake. Like all credit ..you borrow a lot , live well for a while..then the repayments catch up
MrVultcher 1 month ago
Yes Germany loaned money and charged interest..thats banking , so did the UK the mpney provided by the UK is also a loan that has to be paid back, to add insult to injury the UK borrowed the money from the chinese at X % added a few percent on for its own profit and then said Hi Eire, heres a loan....nice...

MrVultcher 1 month ago

MrVultcher 1 month ago
@MrVultcher These loans were for fueling a property bubble - German and French banks knew exactly what they were doing. Property bubbles are unsustainable, the banks took their chances because thats what they do and knew the risks, they cannot believe their luck. The bank they lent to no longer even exists, it happens every day that business don't get their money back when a business goes bust.
SuperGroundControl 1 month ago
@SuperGroundControl Agree..so what guarantees did those French and German banks get from the government of the day, had the conditions been too risky I doubt the loans would have been made. Business is business in bankruptcy there is a pecking order creditors get priority...chaps the government of the day should be strung up for poor regulation, and the bank in question allowed to fail. also the German's banks probably could not believe what the irish gov were agreeing to sign
MrVultcher 1 month ago
@MrVultcher Lets not forget a bank is a private business. They didn't share the profits with the Irish taxpayer, so why should they share the risk. Bonds are a different thing entirely, unsecured bonds are exactly that and you shouldn't get a penny.
SuperGroundControl 1 month ago
@SuperGroundControl again I agree, so why did the Irish government agree to bail them out..were there conditions imposed by the french and germans when these loans were made.
MrVultcher 1 month ago
@MrVultcher They came to him at nighttime, and told him that there wouldn't be enough money in the ATM the following morning. Instead of taking their time, they gave a blanket guarantee without knowing what was owed to whom. The loans that were given were like any other loans, the agreement was between two private institutions and didn't include anything like a bank guarantee. Thats what makes this so absurd.

Sorry guys I dont get this.
MrVultcher 1 month ago
@MrVultcher .... The key word is unguaranteed
richiehatchet 1 month ago
@richiehatchet but its still a loan or contract ( I assume the irish gov did read the fine print).. how many of you have pensions or savings, if I could default on my mortgage or business loan and you pension took a hit would you be happy.
MrVultcher 1 month ago
@MrVultcher When you get a mortgage, its a guaranteed loan, meaning you put something against that loan and should you default on paying the loan the guarantee can be used to recoup the loss. The bonds were unguaranteed, meaning the knew the risk before buying the bonds, yet when the bonds were rubbished we are still paying those holders back the money. Basically we are paying back the Europeans billions on risks they took themselves.
mooneygerry 1 month ago
@mooneygerry Even with a un-guaranteed loan but you still have a contract, you cant walk away from what you borrowed unless you declare bankruptcy even then your processions will be seized to appease creditors. Ireland has not declared bankruptcy thus there are funds available to honour the agreement. Nobody forced Eire to enter into this and borrow the money, I do feel the pain my business has been affected it was up to the elected government to run the country properly.
MrVultcher 1 month ago
@MrVultcher Think of it this way, you do the lotto, and don't win, so you go back to the shop with the losing ticket and get your money back. The rest of Europe just lost out on the Euromillions, and the whole Irish nation are refunding the tickets.
mooneygerry 1 month ago
@mooneygerry Its was not a lottery, It was a government/banking sector bond and the government is still running with assets. If the country collapses then the ECB could ask for Irish assets in lieu of payment.
MrVultcher 1 month ago
So you agree that Ireland should pay for the whole of Europe taking the risk? It's not just Irish bonds we're paying for. I'm sure you agree if you or I made a bad investment and it went to the wall we'd end up paying for it ourselves. I'm not saying Ireland shouldn't pay at all, our government created the mess here, I just take issue with paying for France and Germany too.
mooneygerry 1 month ago
@MrVultcher You're right it was not a lottery. It was more like a day at the horse races. One of the main premises of capitalism is "investments may fall as well as rise". Their investments (banks) failed and instead of allowing capitalism to do its job the Irish bank guarantee did just that - guaranteed the loses. That would be like a bookie paying you for backing a losing horse. And for what? To stabilize the markets? I think we all know NOTHING is stabilizing the markets.
SuperGroundControl 1 month ago
@SuperGroundControl I agree with you ..the stock market is a gamble a day at the races, but not loans or bonds.
MrVultcher 1 month ago
@MrVultcher The UK government has done it to its citizens, this new EU "treaty" that the UK has excluded itself from wants to guarantee that if any European banks fail then the citizens of Europe will pay for it. This is anti capitalist and cannot be sustained. Capitalism is almost Darwinian in that only the strongest should survive. It would lead to a healthier system.
SuperGroundControl 1 month ago
@SuperGroundControl The UK is not too healthy either its deficit is 4.8 trillion sterling (includes pension liability). Merkels Tax on the banking sector was to make the banks help pay for this mess, Camerons bosses - the UK banks did not like this idea. A healthy banking sector is good but it does require regulation.
MrVultcher 1 month ago
@MrVultcher This is separate from the moral argument which is much more straight forward. Should the poor pay for the loses of rich peoples gambling? Regardless of what this press conference says, the IMF and the ECB do not agree - the IMF believe that the bondholders need to take a hit. The ECB is trying to save German and French banks. We should just let capitalism do its job, let the cycle end and start again. We have the pain with no light at the end of the tunnel of a new cycle.
SuperGroundControl 1 month ago
@SuperGroundControl I agree why should the poor pay for those losses, there are plenty of poor in Germany whose pension funds are tied up in those un-guaranteed bonds. Guys had it being straight shares i agree that the nature of stocks and shares, up and down. But they were not they were loans/bonds. Should Ireland go in total collapse as Iceland did ..yes then those bonds are dead. But the Eire government ran this and bailed out the banks. Germany etc knows there is money /assets hidden.
