  • Now i feel nauseous.

  • I live very close to Yellowstone. If the volcano erupts, I will be one of the lucky ones who die quickly in the pyroclastic flow. It is going to be best to live very close to it.

However, this is not something to lose sleep over. The caldera rising by a few inches (or even a few feet), and earthquake swarms is nothing new. There are literally tens of thousands of sensors and satellites monitoring Yellowstone. If there is an eruption, there will probably be weeks, or even months of warning.

  • @Derrricification No there wont you retard, there hasn't been weeks or months warnings for any volcanic eruption ever. Natural disasters wouldn't even matter if you could know when it was going to happen.

  • Lava looks so cool

  • Brb, moving to Russia.

  • i dont want to die :(

  • i wish go in yellowstone national park

  • If this supervolcano blows and releases all of it's energy, at least half of the global population will parish from severe food shortages from lost of live stock to lost of crops from where grains, vegetables and fruit are grown from at first immediate effect of the ash to then it's effect on global climate. Worst case senario is this oversize volcano could cause a nuclear type winter.

  • We have come a very ordinary Gulf Avatar Mava Take a drink with you, we have everything, and come fully to never be afraid

  • I live a quarter mile from Yellowstone.

    ....shit.

  • i had a dream that yellowston would erupt on July 7th maybe 2012 maybe another year im scared.

  • I left Florida...for the mountains...the shoreline is very low...some say the Disney area is best.

  • @CricketHubbs Maybe you can hide out in that castle with Mickey....

  • O crap I live in Oregon...

  • this is why im moving to florida

  • cas says that the yellowstone vulcano a piece of shit is WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • looks like nothing happened. Thank god you aren't a geophysicist.

  • OMG I cant imagine me in one of those eruptions!!!!!!

  • DAMNNN NATURE YOU SCARY!

  • this is just like hawaii except under a continent. both are hot spots BUT no one can really describe why the hotspots are where they are. for all we know this volcano could go off tomorrow or it could change spots and who knows the hot spot may change to africa.

  • Thanks for this video. I don't know how I would have completed my homework without you!

  • wen the super volcanoe blows up im gonna walk into scool and be lik "IN YO FACES YO BITCHES I TOTALLY TOLD U GUYS AND JUST PROVED U GUYS WRONG U FUCKIN DICBISCUITS! HA!

  • BTW no one has the exact facts of when it last erupted so they can't say it is definitely on a 640,000 year pattern. It could go off 2.1 million years after you are dead.

    Don't worry

    Just PRAY

    

  • There is no way anyone can predict when the volcano will blow it's top

But if it did almost all of the western US would be wiped out

    Just pray

God and Jesus Christ are with all of us

    Don't worry they'll save us

    ALL of us

  • Saw a documentary about this on Discovery science, they said one eruption from this volcano would destroy entire NA. But it won't happen in the next 640000 years.

  • @erajaot u dont no that a never will until its to late

  • Hello. Can you calculate how many times has this volcano erupted? Perhaps the theory of dinosaur disappearance must be made of? There are some super volcanoes of which can destroy all life on Mother Earth. Interesting video.

  • If Yellowstone erupted, (with the same amount of force it did last time), then it would (as he said) destroy the west part of the US covering everything with ash. It would erupt for a few weeks or months, and all the ash would block out the sun all over the world. The climate would drastically change, crops would fail, water would begin to run out, and millions or even billion would die of starvation, hydration, and being covered in ash.

  • too bad the massive eruption is being held off by small eruptions causing the magma chamber to release pressure. that info came from the head scientist of the Yellowstone national park volcano observational team.

  • I am scared of the History Channel. If yellowstone erupts tomorrow, will Australia be doomed?

  • @VictorYong36 No. Your problem won't be Yellowstone. Your problem will be Toba.

  • @hermitcrabbot the Toba eruption. 74, 000BC it was almost the end of the world. When will be the next?

  • @VictorYong36 Vulcanologist cannot be sure, but there have been 4 major earthquakes in the Toba area since 2004; they have ranged from 7.7 to 8.5 on the Richter Scale. Furthermore, the island in the center of the volcanic lake in the caldera has risen by 1,400 ft. in the last two decades. Fun facts to know: the last eruption of Toba was the largest known explosion ever on Earth-three times the estimated force of the Yellowstone eruption.

  • @VictorYong36 I hope you will be.... scrote

  • Jesus Christ I hate the history channel. All they've done the last 10 years is spew constant bullshit.

  • I would affect the whole world!

  • @CutePinkYoshi I hope not!

  • would it affect the U.K? (I'm just saying because i am a little worried!)

  • @CutePinkYoshi it would efect new zealand if you even know were that is

  • Considering that the eruption would actually spread a dust cloud across the majority of the world which in turn will destroy crops across the planet and severely affect the planet's temperature, I'm pretty sure the rest of the world is fucked to MiggzM. You should read.

  • 69 people live in the u.s. And is also in q sex position

  • @jacobgo1998 yeah i live in the U.S. too and just got fucked, so what?

  • @me2b1 So it would effect us? :) and where is nw ontario?

  • I used to be a volcano like that, but then I took an arrow to the knee

  • USA isn't the world. You guys are fucked but the rest of the real world will get by. Sorry Yanks.

  • @MiggzM Actually, no. The last time a super volcano erupted, the human species almost went extinct. This was some 75,000 years ago when Toba blew.

It puts the planet into the equivalent of a nuclear winter. Food production would crawl to a halt as we are put into a 6 year "winter."

The rains that fall would be black and acidic, around the world, killing more.

The rest of the would be hit VERY hard when Yellowstone erupts.

  • There are always possibilities. That's all I'm saying.

  • hey just put up a volcanoes explanation video - check it out and maybe you'll be enlightened, tell me what you think! gonna do more :P

  • Damn dude who made this video, we get it you like posting news flashes and you want people to subscribe, calm down, geez.

  • Would this effect me in im in Sudbury Ontario? Or will we be fine?:)

  • dont worry if this dose happen soon and we cant grow stuff we can live on fish :) well for does people living near the sea :)

  • @TheHydeie bro if a "super volcano" erupts it would poison the skies, polluting every water source around the continent it exploded on. fish would be toxic like the water they died in. . .

  • @TheHydeie not when the ash gets in the water

  • Typical TeeVee melodrama.

The notion that Yellowstone will give no warning is stupidly absurd. Any significant eruption will generate significant precursor data. There will be no tourons 'rushing for safety' at the last minute.

The show ignores the fact than any given eruption is very unlikely to escalate to become the next Big One. Since the last mega-eruption, YS has produced hundreds, if not thousands of smaller eruptions - the next YS eruption will almost certainly be a small one.

  • guys stop worrying. don't even think about a large eruption for another 90,000 years. we will be fine!

  • thats terrifying

  • Heck, I can barely come along with my 9 person family 5 miles, never mind 1000s of miles!

  • This must be why Wyoming is the least populated state. I would be scared as hell too!

  • I hope I'm dead by the time that this happens...I'd rather not have to go through that than having to.

  • i should be sleeping already!!!

  • damn i want layed before this errups

  • i hope it does not errupts! must stop volcano!

  • @drearystate but you heard him, he said "if you try and depressureise the system rapidly, then the lava will lose its gas explosively and you can have a very, very large eruption

  • If the Yellowstone Caldera erupted it would put us into a new Ice Age... True story.

  • They need to figure out how to drain magma chambers... that would be great. Thanks.

  • @theSicilianToe Trying to drain the magma chamber would probably actually set the system off. Its a bad idea and exactly how do you drain off 5000+ cubic kilometers of magma?

  • @Baronstone Just a hypothetical. I know there is no way of doing so now but someday in the distant future technology would allow for it. Hopefully it just doesnt erupt before then. The Human species is fucked anyways. This thing threatens our planet right now, being that its 40,000 something years overdue to erupt, and given that our space exploration budget is pitiful in comparison to the military budget there is no hope for us to migrate. Our species is fucked.

  • @theSicilianToe: No matter what your technology level is, you are never, ever going to be able to evacuate a billion people from anywhere in any reasonable time, let alone 7 billion. It's not overdue in any statistical sense. When it happens, it will happen.

  • @Baronstone BTW I dont think draining the magma chamber would instigate an eruption. I think eruptions are caused by an overwhelming pressure and buildup of gasses. I could be wrong about that, im no expert, but I think draining the chamber would be like draining the puss out of a pimple with a syringe.

  • @theSicilianToe: There's a lot of difference between pus and magma. For one, magma has dissolved water in it, which tends to blast into steam when depressurized (as explained), which pus doesn't.

  • I'm gonna go live in a space ship =D

  • Don't be scared. Be prepared.

  • Heads up! We're all fucked.

  • i am glad i moved to england because if it goes off then Americas finished and i am used to the cold weather now anyway so england FTW!

  • @XXIG3ORGEIXX When Yellowstone erupts it will effect the entire planet. And due to winds blowing East majority of the time, the entire city of New York will be covered with 300ft of ash and the entire planet wouldn't see the light of the sun for a good 3-5 years. In the end an estimated 75% of Earth's population will be dead.

  • @RobRob956 New York will see about 1 - 2 CM of ash if Yellowstone goes up. There will be enough sulfur released to cause a volcanic winter that would last for several years. It would be a devastating event that would end up killing between 30 and 40% of the worlds population due mainly to starvation.

  • @RobRob956 I agree - its easy to underestimate something of this magnitude.

  • wont effect where i am :)

    i dont care

  • @101strike3

Wont affect you only if your off this planet.

  • Fucking idiots if u know it's gonna happen flights will be booked out and when it erupts it will be for like 5 years

  • its gonna be so fucking epic. like i won't even be mad.

  • East coast ftw!

  • No one is safe it has the equivalent of 10,000 nuclear bombs

  • @RidsyCuz

    or not..

  • If this happens we will become extinct after 4-5 years

  • W00T EAST COAST FTW! WE ONLY GET BLOCKED OUT SUN! SUCKERS! >:D

  • Fuck that i'm going to the moon

  • I find it funny how many see "preppers" and "survivalists" as paranoid crazy people with nothing better to do. However IF something major happens, they will be the first the naysayers will go to for help. Frankly from what I've seen don't expect much help from them as they have their own life to consider saving.

  • i live in california, im safe

  • millions of people at risk not thousands

  • If it snows in michigan we will live

  • This valcano can destroy America and Georgia Alabama ect will be in ash for 3 months and food with be hard to find like fallout

  • This is the only event that can destroy America....and it's a ticking time bomb

I hope you all making plans to get the hell outta here.....because it is only a matter of time

I got plans to fly to Australia

  • @MatrixFactoryGuy not the ONLY event that can destroy america... imagine if the chinese suddenly wanted their money back ... :D

  • @Daxman1984 they'd take california most likely...

  • Every natural disaster video ive seen on youtube it involves chuck norris... dam you chuck norris! die already!

  • @shan08ish Chuck Norris died ten years ago, but the Grim Reaper can't get up the courage to tell him.

Chuck Norris once had a heart attack; his heart lost.

  • @sofusmadsen chuck norris sucks.

  • I hope this happens in the middle east! Iran and saudi i am hoping.

  • im thankful i don't live in california

  • 2012

  • why do they talk in the present tense

  • Fuck! God dammit I live in fucking Utah! I'll be one of the States that's screwed first...

  • @andyle504702 youre in a state already? damn dude, thats bad news. hang in there. if that thing goes, we are all fcked. but youre in america so chuck norris will save you.

  • One cannot present recurrence intervals based on only two values. It's statistically meaningless; let's do the arithmetic: the three eruptions occurred 2.1 million, 1.3 million and 0.64 million years ago. The intervals are 0.8 and 0.66 million years, averaging to a 0.73 million-year interval. Again, the last eruption was 0.64 million years ago, implying that we are still about 90,000 years away from the time when we might consider calling Yellowstone overdue for another caldera-forming eruption.

  • @lycanfan I heard that it explodes every 600,000 years, and it's been 630,000 since the last.

  • @MrSiiKez As I said, the intervals of it three (3) super-volcanic eruptions are (roughly): 800,000 years & 660,000 years. Two intervals do not represent enough statistical data to form a pattern. Even if the eruptions do start occurring with increased rapidity, we still, more likely than not, have at least several millennia to go.

  • @lycanfan Why would all the scientists predict this then? :S I'd rather believe what you're saying, but when scientists are saying it, it's kind of hard to look away.

  • @MrSiiKez My information comes from dedicated research into this topic and from various expert websites. I can't imagine why some members of the scientific community would ignore some of what I brought up. I hope it is simple calculation errors, or perhaps it's factoring in the idea that there usually is a supervolcanic eruption one every 100,000 years or so.

  • @lycanfan exactly! im glad at least ONE other person makes sense. and besides, if it does happen, it happens. we have to live life, not fear it.

  • @TheCarolStreamKid Thank you. I prefer to live my life, not live in fear, but I also prefer to live in the world of facts and data, not sensationalism and hyperbole.

  • Is it bigger then Katla on Island?

  • I prefer a super volcano eruption before a Mega Tsunami. Look at the Cumbre Vieja Island and what will happen if that island comes down!

  • It's just a bunch of spouts of hot water, besides, magma shifts through the earth at a smooth pace, everything going on in Greenland...Well....I think it's gonna be a while until a super volcano erupts.

Maybe a couple thousand years from now! There are also chances of underwater volcanoes, so we need not worry, Yellowstone is just a bunch of hogwash thrown at us to cause unneeded distractions.

There's only a small chance of it erupting.

And if it does.......We're royally screwed.................

  • @GreenNova790 I have a queston. One of the people in the video speaks about the pressure buildup and how dispersing it quickly actually erupts it in a much violent explosion, however, wouldn't a pipe system to slowly push steam out of the chamber result in a dead Volcano? (seeing as steam and pressure have to do with volcanic eruptions, but if we can slowly take out the pressure and steam equation, wouldn't the magma just sit there? just saying)

  • @ZergSwarmling You could be right. But how are we going to put a pipe system into a volcano without the proper technology and a possibility of causing a lava flow?

  • There are no escapes when a super volcano erupts!!! If it erupts it will be the end of the world

  • @ValleyRocks12 Mexico as in new mexico also? HIP HIP HURRAY! SCREW ALL THIS, I DUNT NEED TO WORRY! :3

  • Eh, who gives a shit, when this happens, well either be 100 years old and ready to die, or it wont be our generation. :3

  • fake and gay

  • Chuck Norris won't breath in the ash cloud, the ash cloud will breath him in.

  • @vexx168 Hahaha :L

  • Doubt it

  • would this effecet places like maryland or the east coast

  • @bcmoten if Yellowstone erupted as a super volcano? Yeah, it would affect Maryland. But will also affect the world too.

  • Remember when yellow stone erupted in 2012 and John Cusack just drove out of it? That was bullshit!

  • Yellowstone Yellowstone, what about Toba ? Lake Toba is a Super Volcano too !!!

  • @paj1967 Yes, but Lake Toba is not a volcanic hotspot. There's no reason to think Toba will erupt.

  • dont worry God is near

  • @Ninety9Soulz LOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • It's freaky watching places you've known be utterly destroyed. ((And believe me, those are actual pictures of Bozeman. That white dome at 4:41 is a basketball arena, and the very tall orange-y buildings in the background on the left hand side are collage dorms for MSU.))

  • Bozeman MT= Town I was born in. OTL

  • @verynicelookingguy27 they never said it was a small island, the atlantic ocean is a big ocean, big enough to have had a huge nation there once upon a time..

  • This shit needs to happen already so I don't have to give reasons to anyone about trying to find a job anymore!

  • @im415again lol me too..

  • So USA would become a 3rd royal country

  • real smart to live nex to a super volcano

  • The day Yellowstone erupts our race will be devastated, the effects will be global, the economy will be in shambles, and billions will die.

For Chuck Norris, it will be Tuesday.

  • @Ninety9Soulz one of the funniest comment I've ever read

    ;p

    thanks for the good laugh

  • You will witness the devestation that follows when the giant volcano of Yellowstone...erupts.

    (Cue bad CG)

    Awww....

  • scary

  • The End is near it on the dollar bill, lets see if you can find it i been told by a friend years back he said its there help and post if you find. Thanx.

  • I live in the white and red brick building on the left at @2:47. Roskie reppin' (Montana State University)

  • Hey, the enviromentalists should love this. No more global warming.

  • @YellowstoneAlert

Please remove that red "breaking news"-thing. It's really disturbing when you are trying to listen to the speaker and watching the pictures and you see something red with disturbing text. Every third second I press the cross...

  • @Sunvalley92 you can turn it off with the red square on the bottom right spiffy

  • Meh, throw a few ice cubes in it

  • Put fat bastard on top of it and we'll be good

  • This video is a drastic understatement.

  • We will never ever be able to control nature. Its release valves are the volcanoes. Trying to drill any hole to channel lava out is naive and simplistic. The further away lava travels the faster it will solidify, in essence plugging the drain pipe. It is not water folks.

  • Drill Holes to the Cost and rease the Presere, or / & licward nitghttrgen

sorry spell checker never found the spelling. > to explain the basicway the very cold stuff.

if ppl can Band their resourse's together, we can to it ourselfs, if the Goverment is not going to do anything to stop it

  • @realnameunknown2011

As soon as you can invent a drill that can withstand FREAKING MAGMA, by all means, go for it. Be sure to tell me as soon as you find a magical material that can withstand the melting point of ROCK without even softening the slightest bit, because I'd be endlessly fascinated with such an impossible discovery.

BTW, liquid nitrogen won't do anything. It'll have evaporated before it even touches magma. Convection, bro.

  • @frobie54

1# it could be a one way trip 4 the Drill, but at least it would go the Job done and but the Magma into the sea, instend of spending million & billions & even trillions on Black secret projects within the Black Goverments, 2# im a idea person not a inventer. in a water pipe is about to Blow, u have realese valves.

it could also save millions or even billions of lives.

  • @realnameunknown2011

I don't think you're comprehending how much pressure is under there already. Any attempt to drill it out, even if you could build a drill that wouldn't fuse into a solid piece, would result in a massive devastating explosion and/or release of toxic fumes and ash that wouldn't really affect much overall. Think about it, this thing is big enough to rain debris across half the U.S. All we can do realistically is prepare for when it happens. That's what they're doing now.

  • @frobie54

and say if, vocanic suit or ash was in the Air, heres an basic idea, but in a Big Way,

vocanic water bomb, A Timed released explosive Water Bomb or liquid nitrogen or both, Suit / ash is Heavy when Wet.

  • @realnameunknown2011

There's no way to release that much water in the air, when the entire area where all the equipment would be is a smoking, lava-filled crater. And you can't drop it from a plane either, because that much ash would clog up the engine and moving parts of any vehicle that gets in the cloud.

A bomb to disperse enough water to cover that area would have to be nuclear-sized. And the fallout from a nuke would be just as bad as the ash cloud the volcano already made.

  • @frobie54

thats the spelling, i totally forgot, how to spell, > (liquid nitrogen ) < just not used it in so long time,

by maybe 3 drilling points undernath flow to the sea, and a Constant flow. liquid nitrogen or Controled Bursts to cool-down. more to it, but, its ether Let that Monster Build and Bulid, its ether Millions Die or Billions Die, Many outway the needs of the Few, too Quote Spock".

if it dose Go Up then More then Billions could Die, or more than Millions.

  • @realnameunknown2011

Look at a map. Do you realize how far Yellowstone is from the ocean? Think very hard about the logistics behind what you're saying.

Magma is hot. Things that are hot give off heat. Heat doesn't only exist when you're in contact with it. Getting a drill anywhere NEAR the magma will cause it to become a puddle.

Even if you can magically make a leak, it will eventually cool and clog the pipe. And like I said before, liquid nitrogen will evaporate. It's useless.

  • @frobie54

1'# never said, it would be easy, a challenge would be hard, but not impossible to overcome.

and if u could time it right, to stop any ash clouds from forming. but u would need to time it right, quick as possblie. even Magma can be cooled, Magma is not the hottest element out there, not even the Sun, of being 8000 or 12 thousand decrese,

  • @realnameunknown2011

You're not getting it. This is so dependent on thousands of variables, it is literally impossible. You'd have to predict the eruption down to the second, and we're not even sure how predict to the day.

Magma is not an element. And just because it isn't the hottest thing out there doesn't mean it won't melt a metal drill. Plus, how would you suggest solidifying it all at once, and not just a top layer that will eventually build more pressure? The stuff goes deep, you know.

  • @frobie54

Magma would be, a super heated Rock what is earth one of the 4 basic elements earth fire water air

better technology has giving us, better ways to predict things in Nature, to a margen of % ether high or low %

if its going to be Bad wether or Cloudy or Rain on this or that day. radar censors and other censors

  • @realnameunknown2011

Fire is not an element, it's a chemical reaction giving off energy. Water, earth and air are all made up of combinations of elements. Look up the periodic table for a full list.

We have some pretty great technology, but even still, predicting eruptions is way different from weather. All we have to go on is rumbling in the earth. Does shaking mean that it's letting off pressure, or it's about to blow, or nothing at all? That's what we're having a hard time interpreting.

  • @frobie54

i said the Basic Elements, i could not remember the word & spelling of (periodic) i was just thinking about sayin about the new table, what we have to work with now,

many / few different shock wave types, sea waves earth volcanic waves, magnetic waves Hot and Cold Air waves.

  • @realnameunknown2011

Water, earth and air are not basic elements, since they can all be broken down into simpler, more basic substances. The pure elements on the periodic table are as basic as they can get while still composing physical matter. You can't break them down into other substances. Fire is just energy being released as heat and light. You can't make anything out of it, so it's not an element in any sense.

I don't really understand what you were trying to say in the last part...
