Regardless of what people want to say the truth is Dave is was and always will be a vital part of Van Halen and Eddie is an ass but neither has anything to do with Dave getting fired. While Eddie letting Dave go may have served his personal reasons the reason was Eddie was looking for more meaning behind the music where as Dave wanted the fun fantastic sound they had been used to. I personally miss Dave's style but really enjoyed sammy's too

Please show me where I said that Dave wasn't VH. And show me where i said that Ed is not an a-hole. I wouldn't go as far as to say Dave was the sole reason VH hit it big back in the late 70's. Eddie's playing was the kind of guitar that people back then had never heard or seen before. I saw VH 8 times between 1979 and 1984. I saw them when they were still an opening act and they blew Boston off the stage. Dave just wrecks the lyrics, plain and simple. But hey, thanks for calling me retarded!

Diamond Dave's live vocals were always a little up or down depending on where and when they were playing, but his vocal hear is flawless. Great live cut! I saw them Fair Warning tour homecoming show at L.A. Sports Arena 1981. I can't even begin to re-tell the story, the debauchery, the wanton, brazen, over the top shit that happened that day/night. Damn good times.

I'm going to agree with you. While they had some great songs on a lot of other albums, the first album was the best as a whole. I think the drinking and drugs did in a lot of Eddie's creativity. It works for some people, but not him. He turned into a shell of himself.
