  • This is absolutely hands down one of my favorite videos! I still get goosebumps listening to her in the bridge, asking why.... So gorgeous. Thank you for posting!

  • @mykel77 I'm not sure I disagree that Tori has lost her passion after SW. You didn't find anything on the next 3 records that suited you at all? Yes, there are some HORRIBLE tracks on TBK and AATS, but, still, you can pan gold out of both of those records. And American Doll Posse didn't touch you? I actually like ADP better than most of her records. I know I am one of those superfans that can't get talked out of my love for Tori, and I have tix to 4 shows on this tour. Am nervous for NoH, thou

  • @melindalu Count me in! I love almost all her albums..

  • omg that WHY at 5:39 kills me evrytime

  • Tori screams the long "Why?" at the end of the extra part. The scream fades into silence and no one answers.

If that doesn't make you cry, then nothing will. It's heartbreaking <3

  • @Mierinable Yes!

  • I have just dropped my jaw on the floor..... I mean WOW! WOW! THAT IS F...AMAZING! never saw that! God, how I LOVE this WOMAN! how I ADMIRE this MUSICIAN!

  • Is that part in the middle pure improvisation? Meaning, did she just throw it into this performance and the band followed? That would not surprise me of any of them. They're all wickedly talented. Either way, it's ridiculously beautiful.

  • I know we're dying

And there's no sign of a parachute

    We scream in cathedrals

    Why can't it be beautiful

Why does there gotta be a sacrifice

    Gotta be a sacrifice

  • I was at this show. Amazing!!!

  • I love listening to this, it makes me forget all the crap she has produced in the last ten years.

  • She is the perfect example of what a woman should be. :)

  • She is the Mother of my inner child.<3

  • I have said it time and time again.. even after seeing her live close to 30 times... this performance is so raw and so amazing. To this day it is still my favorite live performance of hers. And I would have to contribute that to that amazing Jazz bridge improv that starts at 4:31... AMAZING! Still gives me chills to this day!

  • her talent is incredible

  • oh jesus that "WHY" at 5:40 was fucking amazing. god I love this woman.

  • I love her passion! Seeing her live is the best, while her albums are awesome when she performs she really lets loose. The songs she makes are emotional to her and when she sings them she isn't just going through the motions, she is reliving the emotions that she used to create those songs. Prime example is this song which she extended darkly. We need more people like Tori in the music world. People that do it for cathartic reasons more than monetary gain

  • Love you, Tori. Your music has saved my life numerous times. Thank you so much.

  • *tears*

  • She was really at her best during this era of her career. I wish I could have seen her live then.

  • @kevvie100 i saw her then... and it was scary what she was throwing out there for us. how we chose to accept it was up to us, and ageed that this was the height of her performances, i'm not sure i want to experience her that sad again..

  • Seeing her perform this song live you feel her pain, even in a massive stadium...she is a living legend and mentor, Matt is also the bomb!

  • exquisite. utterly.

  • I've listen to this song on brown stars ha ...its godly holy shit

  • this sing is killing me, i love it.

and how she focused she is during this performance. thanks so much.

  • Is it weird I always related this song to sexual abuse by priests in the American Catholic Church? That's what it becomes about ... these kids are "sacrificed" to these "holy" men and no one is punished.

  • naught have to bee this weigh, bay bee..

  • i know we're dying and there's no sign of a

parachute we scream in cathedrals why can't i be beautiful-------awesome lyrics

  • I love this performance, every song at sessions is so amazing.

  • Tori is great live ANYTIME!!! She is what's good in this world

  • i agree!

  • This is THE perfect live version for this perfect song!!

    *

  • ourlovegotlost I agree, that's what I assumed it was about =) this song totally moved me too, this was one of the first versions of Iieee I heard and it remains my favourite.. the improv/added verse is phenomenal. Proves how brilliant T's vocal range is too!

    AW X

  • The middle part is one of the most moving things I've ever heard T sing. It's about her miscarriage. Seems she's talking to God saying.. they took your son so I know you understand how that feels. So then why did you take my daughter from me? (in a nut shell) Absolutely chilling. My take on this at least.

  • @ourlovegotlost Totally. I agree, the middle part is effin' amazing.

  • @ourlovegotlost I totally agree. The piano solo/jam into that totally raw, riveting vocal. Amazing. One of my favorite moments in all of Tori's catalog.

  • @neptunecello

Well said ! This has always been a favorite song, although of the 7 or so times I have been to her live show she has only played it twice . So much going on in the song, and the vocals are out in the stratosphere . Killer rendition .

  • @ourlovegotlost I can't say I understand what it feels to have a miscarriage. But I know how it feels to have people take your own blood. This can never describe my feelings...

  • @ourlovegotlost thats exactly the same thought I had. So sad but gorgeous.

  • @ourlovegotlost I could not agree more! This version of this song pleasantly haunts me on a weekly basis!

  • @ourlovegotlost I think your take is the right one!

  • Love this performance. FTCH has since moved up to my favorite album and this is just incredible. Thanks for posting.

  • Favorite performance of this song!

  • Does anyone have the lyrics for the middle portion? This is one of my favorite songs!!

  • "just say yes

    you little arsonist

you're so sure you can save

    every hair on my chest

    just say yes

    you little arsonist, you"

    did you mean that part?

  • I always assumed that this song was about being addicted to ecstasy. Am I the only one that thinks that?

  • i believe it's about her miscarriage...or it could be a combo. who knows, it's tori :-)

  • i think i saw an interview about this song based on a dream she had about a little boy she followed and had kind of a screaming therapy session (iiiiEEEee!!!) and driving around in circles in a car in a desert. the dream was after her miscarriage.

  • "just say yes you little arsonist" genius

    i can't spell.

  • That was spelled perfectly.

Bring back the apron dresses, I say! They were so wierd and beautiful.

  • I love how she can summon up such tremendous, raw, emotions, and then finish up a thrilling, soul-stirring performance with, "Hi everybody, how's it going?"

    Tori forever! <3

  • ditto! haha

  • 5:45......she looks psycho and I love it.

  • Love this song and this version is especially cool. The extra part in the middle is so powerful!

  • i don't understand why either and it's been almost ten years since i lost my baby.. my little girl..*sighs*

  • i'm sorry.

  • The microphone loves you Tori !!!!

  • How can she be so perfect?!

  • Wow...this version is amazing. I listen to it every night. :)

  • The dress she's wearing is from her singles EP. I love the way she wears it here...completely different. Great song!

  • holy crap monkeys... i loves this!

  • I'm always blown away by her performance of this song, WOW!!

  • you took you took my little girl

  • amazing performance so classy demasiada buena la tori!!

  • she was really the best in the '90s!

  • She's still the best imo.

  • I would say I love her just as much as I did back then, but if i wanted be honest ans fair I wouid have to admit that her latest stuff like Posse is far less brilliant than the good old Choirgirl... the Posse tour was kick-ass nonetheless, I've been to like a dozen shows in neighbouring countries and every night I was blown away, especially by Santa and Pip... Long live Tori!!!!
