Sears.ca Answer Area - Kenmore 24" Stacked Washer and Dryer

I have a stacked washer dryer combo. To replace the belt in the washer, do I tilt the whole thing on its sidie just as if the washer were separate? Then I would gain access through the bottom of the washer to replace the belt. The belt is rubber and I smelled burnt rubber just before it stopped spinning. I also heard squeeking just before it started to smell like burn rubber. The model no. is 417.99170110. Thank you in advance if you can help.
