@xFixD Virtual Mem if you didn't know writes data that would normally go to your RAM, on to your hard drive(s). And we all know hard drives are significantly slower in transferring data in bursts. So if you disable virtual memory it will stop the PC from writing to the hard drive and save you some valuable loading time, although it will put more stress on your RAM so make sure you have enough. But it differs from PC to PC, i prefer it off others may prefer it on, personal preference in the end.
@Scottles293 When you are in the game the data (or most of it) is already loaded in the RAM and Video Memory. The SSD helps RAM and Video Memory get the data faster, from there on it's their job how they handle it. But considering you play MMO's or games with huge maps like GTA IV where not all data might be loaded in the system memory at once (maps, textures objects, etc.), you could see an improvement in gameplay performance.
@hares295 thanks heaps for your reply! yeh ive been considering getting one lately because i do play games with larger maps like gta and mafia 2 etc which tend to run fine while on foot but if u are moving through the map quickly there tends to be stuttering/choppiness. I'm pretty sure the problem isnt my cpu/gpu (1090t and 6970) so im thinking that it may be the slower HDD. for example mafia 2 benchmarks very well, its only when im driving through the map does it get slightly choppy
@Scottles293 On games like Rage, yes. Sometimes Mega Textures can't be loaded only onto the video card and RAM alone. It'll need to draw from the Hard drive (slow draw ins) or SSD (less noticable)
@monkey6573 lmao, am not saying it is as fast as any other ssd.. am saying mine took shorter time than the ssd in the video to load up Mw2.. that's all..
@devmanl there's no point in upgrading the RAM for gaming, i have a dual core 2.3 (intel core i3) CPU, 1Gb V-RAM graphics card and 3GB RAM, and i never used 3GB! (normally it peaked at around 2.5GB). the CPU and GPU will bottleneck the gaming performance much more compared to RAM in your situation.
@TheRogueMonk I guess not. Since everything retrieved from the hard drive is probably put in your RAM, which guarantees high speed gameplay. Not sure about that though. Just my thought.
@TheRogueMonk You need enough ram. For instance, if you can, have 4Gb to play BF3. It allows the game to put things in the RAM which is way faster than to retrieve from the HDD.
Get a good graphics card.
Get a quad core CPU.
Both RAM and SSD are flash memory (very fast access times ~1 ms or something in that range). I don't know much more about how both are built.
Loading everything into ram takes a hell of a lot of time. Valve have the worse load times because they load entire levels into the ram. They barely do any streaming in most of there games.
Well I'm getting SSD tomorrow!!

@Scottles293 Yeah...sometimes the screen freeze (not lag, its freezee) for some seconds thanks to the "fail" in the loading of files

@giantr461 right, and thats a problem with the HDD not the cpu/video card yeh?

Having a fast SSD in BF3 means you get the jets first if you want XD
absoluteblkade3 4 months ago 2
@absoluteblkade3 I know nothing about these jets, but yes in online games you can tell who has the SSDs by who loads first.

my hdd is just as fast as that ssd. seriously, i tested it :D. the hdd in this video is too damm slow. is that a core 2 duo processor? or what?

@yungbenny911 No, a hard drive will never ever compare to even the cheapest SSDs.

@7Balanar probly cuz of pc specs.. cuz ssd is not all of the pc.. cpu memory and graphic card also affects the speed of pc.
cjswnsdl 4 months ago
Does the game need to be installed IN the SSD?
In that case, despite being really fast, there won't be enough space for a whole bunch of games. right?
Fastz0r 4 months ago
@Fastz0r it has to be on the ssd but to have a ssd only for OS can also help to improve the HDD's perfomance
necronlord40k 4 months ago
Thought of that, thanks for your answer.
Fastz0r 4 months ago
@Fastz0r Biggest SSD that I've seen so far available for sale is 120 gig. So thats plenty.
edstar83 4 months ago
@edstar83 But thats pretty expensive... Expecially here in Brazil ]=
We have to pay a total of like 350% of the actual value in the US.
Its pretty nasty....

@conradkvideos what does it take to increase the gaming fps now? are our rams too slow? or is htis the fastest it could go to begin with=?
i guess ram is as fast as sdd cause it is a chip?
btw what is the difference between ram and microchip... pepople say ram is not built up of transistors like cpu isk then what is it made up of
