When I was a kid, this portion always got me. The entire sequence builds such tension, and when the giant wasp first appears it was like a screamer - scared the hell out of me. All the build in the chase to a final climax in a spider web. For CGI, it sure is beautiful and emotionally provoking.
I've watched this VHS tape (now DVD) over and over since it came out in 1993. In high school I watched it so many times (1994 to 1998)... ONE QUESTION: The space base on the moon at 3:00 minute mark - WHY DON'T WE HAVE ONE OF THOSE TODAY?! I am deeply disappointed there has been virtually ZERO space exploration progress in almost 20 years since this came out. Sure, we have a tinker-toy space station and a few probes, big deal. I'm just incredibly disappointed. We need to be like Star Trek.
@mrjustin5 Because - nobody wants to actually live in one of those enough to afford it. Cut off from virtually all human contact, food water and air all rationed, no means of communication; an entire planet and you've only got the dome to wander, and perhaps there's nobody else there at all. Anything breaks, and it's possibly deadly, and definitely very, very expensive and tricky to fix.
That, and just getting the parts over would be a massive expense.
@mrjustin5 I know, but space exploration is expensive and cumbersome, and problems here on Earth are must ruining it. One genius at work once actually said that the last time a space shuttle blew up, she thought it was God trying to tell us something LOL.
i remember watching this when i was around 3-5 years old. i every time i watched this part of the film, i'd cheer on the little bee so it could be safe. haha, this brings back so many memories.
I don't recall this one with the bee chase. However, I have an alnerate scene with the same music and same ending with the land pods - just can't remember where that tape is....
I was playing Half Life 2, and when I got to the part where you're driving water-raft, being chased by the Combine Transport that drops mines on you...I thought of the music that starts @ 1:05...so I found this on youtube, and played the game with this blarring...great music for a chase! Try it!
I saw this on PBS way long ago. It inspired me to get a job in computer graphic design. Too bad I couldn't do it. I miss shows like this one.

The Radio Shack version of BTME was very different for this track. Cool to see the differences now.

You guys need to get this DVD if you've never seen it, it's quite amazing in both animation and music.

The ending was slightly disturbing. I think this one gave me weird dreams as a kid.
