My god, that was one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. That part of me that had died was resurrected. Your piano playing is very, very far from rubbish. If I may be so bold as to suggest a slight amendment to the lyrics, instead of 'ever the after', perhaps 'ever the author'? That's how I heard it at first listen, and I feel fits perfectly, but what you do is amazing. Please, PLEASE, never ever stop making music :)
