Heaven is there for the taking. The magic of free will is that if you truly want something then you will search for it, sacrifice for it and find it. Thus everyone who goes to heaven is there because they want to. Hell is anywhere aside from heaven with no purpose nor fullfillment. Explains a lot, i dont need a video, overly profound mumbo jumbo or a light to explain something so simple.
@amestris6565 Nor do you need reason, or a shred of evidence to make life choices. You have a magic book!!!! It doesn't matter that it contradicts itself, it doesn't matter the "word of god" is shown factually wrong....it's right. It doesn't matter god practices "do what I say, not what I do"....you are special...you have faith, the ability to believe without reason to believe.
This is where ALL people are misguided about the idea of Heaven. ALL of us will go to heaven [if there is, actually] even those who are sinners [as religious people would call them].
Because, from what I have taken from various sources, this being called Jesus "destroyed" hell. That makes all of us in the safe zone. But I have no idea when it comes to the christian belief of purgatory.
all I have to say about that is we're all going to purgatory first then to heaven. No hell.
You don't enter the New Earth by believing that God and Jesus are real, that's clear throughout scripture. So if this God is real, and his values are also, and if you followed this God in entirety(not just by believing - but the renewing of mind and works), you wouldn't believe that those people are being punished wrongly, you'd know by his moral and righteous teachings that he righteousely judged those who refused to dedicate themselves to him and rather serve "self".
@OneFaithAndOneAccord I myself am a Christian and I am finding it hard to understand how a loving God would send anyone to eternal suffering in Hell just because they refused to dedicate themselves to Him and chose rather to serve themselves, let alone the fact that many people simply could not believe in God rather than choose not to, as it is entirely illogical and requires faith without cause.
@MrJonathanSewell A God who is GOOD, is good is ALL ways: mercy, judgment, etc. A GOOD judge will punish, God is a GOOD judge, so he punishes them with what they deserve. God gave them an INCREDIBLE chance, to put true faith in Christ Jesus after they were already condemned, that they would be forgiven if they would now serve him. And if you don't have the heart to serve him, all you would have to do is sincerely ask him to create a clean heart in yourself so you will want to.
@OneFaithAndOneAccord Outside of your book, I have one that says Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is real, what proof do you have of god? Let's be real, Jesus showed up after over 100,000 years of humanity and now he's the guy? So, god let everyone believe in Zeus, Odin, Ra, Venus, Thor for all those years and now you have the divine path?
@MrJonathanSewell I understand some people HONESTLY don't believe in God, but the majority(I mean like 90%) just in actuality don't WANT to believe in God. If you've read the scriptures, it's clear God is not some God who says "believe in me with any evidence". Signs followed those who preached the Gospel: Tongues, Casting out Devils, Healing the Sick, Prophesying, Miracles, etc. In FACT, God speak to Spirit filled Christians everyday, THOUSANDS are guided by the Spirit' voice.
@OneFaithAndOneAccord Your scriptures are an amalgamation of early christian writings and pagan beliefs to unite a tyrants empire. WHY? Because only christians would allow the such a butcher of humans into their ranks. The major religions of the time wouldn't accept his crimes against humanity. (church lady voice) Isn't that special?
@MrJonathanSewell Another thing... there's three planes of existence: The Natural, the Psychological(Intellectual and Emotional), and the Spiritual. The evidence of the natural is conceived by senses, while the evidence of the spiritual in conceived by faith. If you, in sincerity and truth are HONESTLY willing to believe in God he will manifest himself to you, but it's you're choice if you want to have faith in that manifestation. God never makes it TOO hard.
Actually, it still would be YOU there, because you simply can't REMEMBER, the Scriptures don't say God will munipulate you into not caring for them, you simply wouldn't remember, so there' no twist of your feelings/thoughts because you don't have the chance to remember them. And it can't be a twist of free will, because you chose to follow this God most likely knowing that you will not remember the past.
I'm not sure what to think of this channel, honestly. I can honestly say I've learned a bit from these videos (I'm an agnostic with some religious sympathies, for the record), but I think the delivery is a little too self-important. I feel like the videos are often relevant, but delivered as though they are more relevant than they are, and with a very polarizing tone. I'm always more enthusiastic about people who attempt to reconcile ideas rather than deepen divisions.
Many Christians make their god out to be a kind of celestial dictator, who sends his political opponents to the Gulags.
I can't help but compare them to Nazi collaborators during WW2, who were willing to see their fellow countrymen being executed, or sent to the concentration camps, as long as the dictator didn't send them there as well.
For this reason they publicly praise and glorify their 'Fuhrer', even though they know within themselves that what he is doing is evil.
Hmm there are people who believe something from between those extremes exist. Very few but I know people like that. Christians who make a big noise of themselves are the stupid ones who use religion to judge others. That's my experience anyway.
Damnit will someone please give this man a medal? I thank god every day I was brought up Episcopalian, where god loves because of what someone does, not what he/she believes. (just for the irony) God bless you, TheoreticalBullshit
"loving and ethical" people suffering in heaven, according to you? How about the truth? the truth that our understanding of morality (Given the christian presup which this person in the vid attempts to hold for the sake of argument) will be perfected once into the proper absolute morality that stems from the Creator. And given that standard those ppl who b4 seemed "loving/ethical" will be abominations to a Holy God. So this argument doesnt fly cuz it sets up an incomplete christian worldview.
@Refutingnonsense A god whose "perfect" morality would send otherwise decent human beings to fire and eternal punishment is not a god I would choose to worship, and I would rather burn in hell forever than sit in luxury as a reward for having embraced such an evil worldview that people suffering simply for not believing is not a burden on my conscience.
@awcomeon If God is "bound" by a "spiritual law," who made the spiritual law and why can't he break it? If he made it, why call it a law that he's bound to, and if he didn't make it, why call him God? If God is all-powerful, why does he allow Lucifer to roam over the Earth instead of throwing him in hell right away? If you say "to test mankind," well, I thought we had free will? Why throw a wrench in the works if the only end result is that fewer people will come to God?
@Gemini4t "If God is "bound" by a "spiritual law," who made the spiritual law" (A: He did). "why can't he break it?" (A: He's unchanging and perfect.) "If he made it, why call it a law that he's bound to" (A: Lawmakers are bound by the laws they make, as well.) "and if he didn't make it, why call him God?" (A: He did BECAUSE He is God).
Sorry if you get double messages in your inbox but I'm running out of space, sadly. :(
@awcomeon "A: He's unchanging and perfect." Which is why we can now eat pork and wear mixed fabrics, right? "Lawmakers are bound by the laws they make, as well." Lawmakers are not all-powerful. God is. For him to be all-powerful, IE omnipotent, he cannot be "bound" by anything. He may be self-limiting, but to use the word bound is to imply he CAN'T break it. "He did BECAUSE He is God" Good people don't need rules. If God needs to make rules for himself, what's that tell you about him?
@Gemini4t "Good people don't need rules. If God needs to make rules for himself, what's that tell you about him?" (A: The fact that He stands by a spiritual law that demands His creations be given free will tells me that He is incredibly controlled, patient, and yes powerful.)
@Gemini4t Perhaps you should stop trying to apply human logic to His actions. Being fickle and having the ability to change one's mind is hardly indicative of having any power. Trying to understand God with your mind will admittedly get you nowhere. It requires spiritual understanding.
@awcomeon "Perhaps you should stop trying to apply human logic to His actions. " Perhaps I should stop using my brain and just blindly accept something that's so fundamentally flawed? Logic has brought us out of the dark ages and into a realm of scientific and technological marvel. I can only USE my human brain because it's all I can rely on. If God wanted us to believe in him maybe he shouldn't have made himself so irrational, inconsistent and implausible.
@Gemini4t "Perhaps I should stop using my brain and just blindly accept something that's so fundamentally flawed?" (A: No. You should not 'stop using your brain.' You should look at this from a spiritual perspective.) "Logic has brought us out of the dark ages and into a realm of scientific and technological marvel." (A: No. Intellect and research has.) "I can only USE my human brain because it's all I can rely on." (A: I know.)
@awcomeon "You should look at this from a spiritual perspective." That's a non-answer, but I'll try to do it anyway. I will assume that my "spiritual perspective" is my emotional gut-feeling, because that's what spirituality was to me when I was a Christian. Anyone who would be so capricious as to condemn a good person to eternal torment because they wouldn't worship that person is not worthy of the worship, and is one of the most evil forces on the planet. That's my spiritual conjecture.
@Gemini4t "I will assume that my "spiritual perspective" is my emotional gut-feeling" (A: No.) "because that's what spirituality was to me when I was a Christian." (A: Let me guess, you never felt God's presence and couldn't understand why He allows all the evil in the world to exist and so you quit.)
@awcomeon Wrong. I felt God's presence VERY strongly for most of my childhood life. It was only later in life that I realized I had associated the warm fuzzy gut feeling of positive emotion with what I thought was God. Please understand me that I once was a very strong and devout Christian, and I came to the place I am now not out of anger but out of rationality and understanding. I do speak with anger at certain terms, because I am a moral person, and you are turning off your empathy to believe
@Gemini4t "Anyone who would be so capricious as to condemn a good person to eternal torment because they wouldn't worship that person is not worthy of the worship, and is one of the most evil forces on the planet." (A: God does not condemn anyone to eternal torment for not worshiping Him. Belief in Him and knowing Him is the only key to His Kingdom. You seem to have trouble with this concept.)
@Gemini4t "If God wanted us to believe in him maybe he shouldn't have made himself so irrational, inconsistent and implausible." (A: Actually, He didn't.)
I really don't know how else to explain this to you as it's not something that can be explained in a way that you will understand. I'm not saying that you're incapable of understanding, but it requires a degree of "wanting" to understand. And it's based heavily on spiritual perspective.
@awcomeon You're implying that I haven't been there. I've been exactly where you are, making the same arguments as you were to other atheists on the internet. After a while when you grow up and develop a better sense of empathy for your fellow man you start to realize how much things don't add up, and the intellectual dishonesty required to make it all fit is just too much to take. But at the end of the day, even if you were right and Yahweh was real, I would not worship him, because he is EVIL.
@Gemini4t "You're implying that I haven't been there." (A: No. You're giving yourself away in this instance.) "I've been exactly where you are, making the same arguments as you were to other atheists on the internet." (A: But didn't sincerely believe what you were arguing? Well that's just silly.) "After a while when you grow up and develop a better sense of empathy for your fellow man you start to realize how much things don't add up," (A: Are you implying that I don't have empathy? Really?)
@awcomeon "But didn't sincerely believe what you were arguing? Well that's just silly." I DID sincerely believe it. I'm not questioning your sincerity, please don't question mine. "Are you implying that I don't have empathy? Really?" If you truly had empathy you'd hate Yahweh for sending billions to hell because of the standards he decided to set in place. A parent who would condemn a disobedient child to an eternal torture of which there was no escape would be evil. Why is God morally exempt?
@Gemini4t "But at the end of the day, even if you were right and Yahweh was real, I would not worship him, because he is EVIL." (A: You seem to be harboring bitterness about something and are angry with God. I think that deep down you believe that God exists, but you question His goodness. It's a very common thing. Even David questioned and struggled with God. And so did Habakkuk (Habakkuk 1:2-17 is quite interesting). It's human nature to question and try to make sense. You're not wrong.
@awcomeon "You seem to be harboring bitterness about something and are angry with God." I can't be angry with someone who doesn't exist. I am angry that people want to believe in a supreme being capable of and willing to do such evil acts. I'm glad that you think I believe deep down God exists, because you clearly know me better than myself, but let me counter: isn't it true that deep down you believe Allah exists but you question His goodness? Or do you simply reject Islam without belief in it?
@Gemini4t "I can't be angry with someone who doesn't exist." (A: You're not familiar with one of the stages of anger...denial.) "I am angry that people want to believe in a supreme being capable of and willing to do such evil acts." (A: And yet you admit to once being an avid follower of this "evil being." Interesting how Christianity can be turned on and off like a light switch. Or perhaps you were just going through the motions?"
@Gemini4t "isn't it true that deep down you believe Allah exists but you question His goodness? Or do you simply reject Islam without belief in it?" (A: Allah is the Arabic name for God. Islam is also an Abrahamic religion. You probably should've used Vishnu for this analogy. And you were the one who claimed to once be Christian and sound genuinely bitter to me. I believe my assumption holds validity.)
@Gemini4t Understandable. I work nights so I actually needed this to stay awake, grrrrr! I'll let you send me the PM if you so choose. I don't want to crowd your inbox with more babble! Sweet dreams! ;)
@Gemini4t "If God is all-powerful, why does he allow Lucifer to roam over the Earth instead of throwing him in hell right away?" (A: Lucifer is still bound by God and cannot do anything without God's permission...yet.) "If you say "to test mankind," well, I thought we had free will?" (A: Lucifer's purpose is not to "test mankind." It never was. God cannot just toss Lucifer into the Lake of Fire. There are spiritual laws that must be adhered to. Do not confuse "cannot" with incapability.)
@awcomeon "Lucifer is still bound by God and cannot do anything without God's permission...yet." If I gave someone permission to rape and murder, I'd be a fucking monster just like Stalin and Hitler. "God cannot just toss Lucifer into the Lake of Fire. There are spiritual laws that must be adhered to." WHY does he make those laws and adhere to them if it causes so much needless death and destruction?
@Gemini4t "Why throw a wrench in the works if the only end result is that fewer people will come to God?" (A: refer to my last statement in my previous post.) "Which is why we can now eat pork and wear mixed fabrics, right?" (A: Jewish/cultural laws/customs were different prior to the crucifixion. Due to man's separation from God.) "For him to be all-powerful, IE omnipotent, he cannot be "bound" by anything...(A: Again, do not confuse "cannot" with inability).
@awcomeon "Jewish/cultural laws/customs were different prior to the crucifixion. Due to man's separation from God." If you violated these laws you were considered evil and worthy of hell. If God said this at some point, he either still means it now, or he changed his mind and is thus NOT "unchanging." If God were truly unchanging he wouldn't have sent Jesus down to CHANGE THINGS. "Again, do not confuse "cannot" with inability." But that's EXACTLY what cannot means. You're thinking "will not."
@Gemini4t "If you violated these laws you were considered evil and worthy of hell. If God said this at some point, he either still means it now, or he changed his mind and is thus NOT "unchanging."" (A: Yes. Prior to the crucifixion which ruled most of the laws obsolete. One of the laws was the necessity of a sacrificial lamb for cleansing of sin. This would not have been needed if Adam and Eve had not disobeyed God and eaten of the forbidden tree. Cont'd...(YouTube is annoying for this...)
@awcomeon "One of the laws was the necessity of a sacrificial lamb for cleansing of sin." Why? God is all powerful. Why does he demand the destruction of an innocent creature to appease things that he just happened to decide were evil? Why couldn't he just accept an apology? He's God, he's all-powerful, he can make the rules, which means he could make better rules. Demanding death is barbaric and hateful.
@Gemini4t A Cont'd: In order for salvation from this disobedience to occur, human sacrifice was required by spiritual law. God manifested Himself as a human and allowed Himself to be sacrificed significantly rattling Lucifer's hold on humanity. "If God were truly unchanging he wouldn't have sent Jesus down to CHANGE THINGS." (A: It all goes back to spiritual laws which now exist to draw humanity back to God.)
@awcomeon You keep mentioning spiritual laws as an explanation for why, but it doesn't answer why. It's an absolutely bullshit argument. If all spiritual law is made by God, then just cut out the middleman and say God demands X. But WHY does God demand X? What sense does it make? If he's all-powerful and all-knowing, if he can make reality whatever he wants, why doesn't he make it better? He could alter reality to allow for free will without so much fucked up stuff in the world. Don't deny it.
@Gemini4t "You keep mentioning spiritual laws as an explanation for why, but it doesn't answer why. It's an absolutely bullshit argument." (A: Misunderstanding or disliking an argument does not designate it as bullshit. Or my fault for that matter.) "He could alter reality to allow for free will without so much fucked up stuff in the world." (A: That's the plan. Or haven't you read his best seller 'The Bible: Mankind's Search For The White Rabbit?')
@awcomeon "Misunderstanding or disliking an argument does not designate it as bullshit. Or my fault for that matter." I'm not misunderstanding the argument, you are. You say "God does this because it's spiritual law." "Well who writes the law?" "God does!" It's circular reasoning and thus cannot be used as an explanation for WHY. It'd be like you saying "I can't wear green." "Why not?" "Because of a personal law imposed on me." "Who wrote the law?" "I did." We are now back to the "why" question.
@Gemini4t "But that's EXACTLY what cannot means. You're thinking "will not." (A: And you're thinking with your human logic once again. I know it sounds silly and makes absolutely no sense. And if you try to figure it out in the natural as opposed to the spiritual it will continue to do so. With the accompanying headache. -_-)
@awcomeon "And you're thinking with your human logic once again." Well I'm glad you can turn off your brain and happily accept a God who sends billions to eternal damnation because they couldn't suspend their disbelief regardless of how decent they were, but if there is a God he made me with a rational brain and an inquisitive nature and he would want me to seek the truth, not some wishy-washy nonsensical mythological bullshit.
@Gemini4t "Well I'm glad you can turn off your brain..." (A: I never said anything about turning off one's brain. My brain is on. Is your brain on?) "...and happily accept a God who sends billions to eternal damnation because they couldn't suspend their disbelief regardless of how decent they were," (A: Did you not read my very first post to you? I explained this very issue.) And you're right, God does want you to seek the truth, Him. Of your own free will of course.
Atheism: The belief that there was nothing and nothing happened to nothing and then nothing magically exploded for no reason, creating everything and then a bunch of everything magically rearranged itself for no reason whatsoever into self replicating bits which then turned into dinosaurs. Makes perfect sense.
If you are an atheist, who has no belief in God, why does it matter to you so much that other people do? I saw a video you posted about objective morality. You proposed that a good "moral" thing is something that promotes goodness, happiness and health. Well, to me, as a Christian, you downgrading my religion, my own personal and never changing choice, would be the "immoral" thing. Why? Because to me, your negative words do not promote goodness, happiness and health. Practice what you preach.
Hell means grave. When you go to hell you are dead and gone, in a grave. That doesn't mean suffering, you just die. It's not a threat it's probably the way you would want it if you hate God. "Just let me die I don't want you" you would say "Ok" says God.
The lake of fire is for eternal (arguably) justice by way of (literal? Evangelicals say yes) fire. Not all who go to hell go to the lake of fire.
Many Christians don't know their own scripture, so I'm just here to help. No hate-responses plz.
Thank you TBS, for this video. I had never thouight of the heaven/hell thing in this way. It makes sooo much sense. I really appreciate your presenting these ideas.
Do your research. Christians wont know about the other people in hell because all they will be focused on is God. All hurt and pain will be washed away.
@megan00392 What "research" are you speaking of? Will Christians be aware of their loved ones at all, including the ones with them? Will they be individuals, or will they be mindless worshipers? And, perhaps most importantly, will God's ass ever become raw from the constant friction of Christian lips upon it?
@Duckshmm To be technical i find your comment irrelevant. This includes your negative observation, and your egotistic response to those observations. You should live life in disregard to your ego.
this is exactly what I'm talking about. you jumble your dictionary words to a point that grammatically it doesn't make sense. you've managed to use most of those words incorrectly and it really shows that you are trying to act intelligent.
1. its 'egotistical'
2. 'to be technical' is horrible wordsmithing
3. you used observation twice.
i have no ego. im just giving constructive criticism.
BTW, there is no evidence of the flood, there is enough evidence that human societies existed more than 10,000 years ago and their structures still remain intact.
@ManyInfiniteComments there actually are quite a bit of things from the bible that happened or are happening etc, but there are TONS of things wrong with the bible with apparently counters the things that happened or are happening, like that giant ass boat found at the top of a mountain where the bible said it was, the oil spill something about black waters etc. :D
What about the proposition that you shall not kill because its against god's nature, but I read somewhere in the bible that the earth was flooded for 40 days and nights by god wiping out almost the entire human population (including innocent children), therefore is god going to hell? is god blasphemous by his own standards? Or maybe the whole thing was made up? Please be consistent.... and don't say that only sinning humans were the targets.... animals were targets as well.
I have had the same thoughts. This has led me to believe that the "GOD" portrayed by "commercial religion" may not be the God that actually exists. All these man-made pretenses of "GOD" are just that, man-made. I don't believe God is going to send anyone to hell unless they are truly evil (manson, bundy, dahmer etc.). For those of us just trying to live our lifes the best we know how God is not a damning character, but should represent all that life entails. IMO
God is the ONLY one that WILL ever be able to satisfy you for all eternity…..so you who don’t want to believe in the True God then Heaven will not be a place for you anyways…your right!
@rubixxcube same reason why He made the Devil and all the fallen angels to GLORIFY Him! And One day you will You will either Bow down to Him willingly on earth or in death on Judgement day when you stand before Him everyone Will have to give an account Every Knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! Peace
@created4goodwrks so your god made all these bad things happen JUST to glorify himself!? That's vanity....and that is a sin. I promise you on "that day" I won't bow...I'll flip that fucker off and dance my happy self to hell.
@rubixxcube thought you didn't believe in God...why would you believe in sin? that's a GOD thing...and sure you will (dance) keep telling yourself that then maybe one day you will actually believe what your saying then at that point it will be too late...the fact your even addressing these comments is because some where deep inside you YOU do believe you just are being PRIDEFUL...
@created4goodwrks Or he cares about his fellow man and wants you to see that you're life isn't being wasted. Ever think of that?
There is no way any good can come from believing in a system created by bronze age sheep herders to worship their patriarchal moon deity (YAHWEH). Any good that does come from it actually comes from YOU and not some imaginary being.
@gvman3670 He doesn't have to worry about my life being wasted I am saved and my life is secure FOREVER!!! AND those Bronze age sheep herders are not as prideful as you are...yea like i really want to follow people that are so arrogant and think they know it ALL...and maybe He is imaginary to you but I have seen the TRUTH and NOW i BELIEVE...! and where does the bad that i do come from??? yes from me too, but I am covered by the blood of Christ! PRAISE GOD!
@rubixxcube and that's OK BECAUSE HE STILL LOVES YOU! WE DON'T COME TO HIM HE COMES TO US...NOT BECAUSE WE LOVE HIM BECAUSE HE LOVES US! IN FACT WE HAVE ALL AT ONE TIME HATED HIM AND HE STILL LOVED US! so your not too far off we have all spit in His face...and He still LOVES!
@created4goodwrks Honestly though, he's never done anything for me. I didn't ask him to die for me in fact I probably would've died for myself or stuck to sacraficing cattle. Point is I was not apart of the apple eating I should not be held accountable for what two people did 6000 years ago...I WAS NOT THERE.
Christians like to dwell on nonbelievers being eternally tortured because it clears their mind of the fact that one day we will all be worm food. But, still, await the resurrection of this body. That is far out.
Christians have been so thoroughly trashed by unbelievers that they reject morality altogether now and say that all that matters is belief in Christ. Why have the 10 commandments when they can all be ignored and insulted all your life if you only accept Christ on your death bed? Why be charitable, kind, generous and forgiving? Why, if doing all these things, without Christ, leads to damnation?
Why develop your child's mind and curiosity if it might lead to critical thinking and atheism?
@thekolstad Scriptural descriptions of Heaven are mundane and mirror human life on Earth, i.e. house of many mansions and sitting at a table with Christ. So why would someone disbelieve scripture and speculate on a heaven free of human attachments? It is now common that Christians will substitute their own imaginings where the Bible clearly says otherwise. Fewer than a fraction of 1% of so-called Christians actually use the Bible as a reference. The rest are counterfeits, in it for the rewards.
@jesuslove110 I think his point is what if she is indeed a good person and has no significant skeletons in her closet. If she simply doesn't share your religious beliefs, she won't be there with you in heaven. Based on your comments, you seem to take a more liberal view on salvation which is refreshing, but I think you'd be in the minority among Christians.
Those suffering in ethernal pain are not supposed to be good, and there is beyond our human logic to decide which is good and which is bad. Something that seems bad here, can be good in God's eyes, and this is not a relativistic statement. You keep judging God, challenging Him, and He will answer you. Be true to yourself and that's enough.
1:46 - 1:50 So what happens when you get alsheimers or dimentia which will inevitably eliminate your memories, affect behavior, judgement, thinking, and language which will then turn you into "someone else" rendering all of your memories, values, hopes and morals completely insignificant at the moment when natural causes decide to shut the door on your consciousness? Who gets blamed then? Your natural character is in a constant state of change, so to speak of "myself" is never consistent.
urm, many verses of the bible state that the end is not an eternity in hell for those who have sinned or not accepted christ but that death is the end for them, so they wont go to heaven but they will just die. the idea of hell fires etc really evolved in the middle ages when priests took advantage of the fact most people couldn't read the bible for themselves and so took their money etc :)
But what if you're doing the same regarding the evidence against Christianity? What if you're being intellectually lazy and not considering the rebuttals to these Christian philosophers? At some point, you have to start thinking for yourself and deciding whose arguments - theists' or atheists' - are truly logically sound. Both sides may make perfect sense, but ultimately one must be right and the other must be wrong.
your beliefs are as silly as a child's belief in Santa Claus and should be treated with equal ridicule. And not just to be rude, but to show you that it is silly and childish to lay claim to ANYTHING without evidence. It is not how a mature, rational mind should work
You claim to be making a point to Christians in general, but your criticism only falls on one brand of Christian--fundamentalists. The doctrine of an eternal hell of physical, metnal, etc. pain is not shared by all Christians and thus isn't a necessary condition for being one. So you need something more if you're going to reject Christianity. You say "there's an evidence deficit". But that just shows you haven't read Plantinga, Swinburne, Craig, and others (i.e. you're not looking very hard).
@esizzle2005 if you believe in a supernatural power without evidence than you pretty much are a fundamentalist. I mean you still believe in something as silly as say Santa Claus and should be treated with equal ridicule.
@tamu77095 You said "If you believe in a supernatural power without evidence than you pretty much are a fundamentalist." But that's precisely what's at issue, pal! I'm saying there IS evidence and if you read the work of Christian philosophers, you'll see that it's strong. By equating the the weakest form of Christianity--fundamentalism--with Christianity, as atheists often do, you're refusing to engage the best arguments for theism, and that's being intellectually lazy.
@esizzle2005 i like how you didn't make any arguments, let alone good ones. U just said there 'are' arguments... no, im sorry, if you make them il address them, but until then you remind me of a child that believes in Santa Claus trying to refute that he doesn't exist
@tamu77095 Incidentally, the claim that there's no evidence for theism is false by anyone's standards. Evidence is easy to get. It's just some consideration that speaks in favor of a given conclusion. The cosmological, moral, fine-tuning, noological, and ontological arguments all qualify. The question is "Is it sufficient to persuade you?" That's debatable. What's not debatable is the question of whether or not there is evidence. To think otherwise is to misunderstand what evidence is.
why the lighter? i heard what the point of this vid was but had to replay it a couple times because expecting that lighter to pop up again kept distracting me. sans lighter would have made more of an impact i think
@andreag07 He said at the end that if he was able to comfortably accept an idea that countless good people were suffering for an eternity, then he would deserve hell(fire from lighter). Basically, he was saying that being comfortable with Christian beliefs is more deserving of punishment in an afterlife than being morally good. He's saying that Christians are the "evil" ones, which is why he lights the fire when he talks about them.
The idea is that everyone will be "judged" and God makes the final decision based on the person's character. However, as the Bible doesn't always agree with itself it is hard to say. You need not to convince anyone they are wrong. If they are stupid enough to believe this in the first place they will be stupid enough not to hear you.
@theoreticalbullshit Those whos names are written in the book of life will be raptured probable this september 2011. 7years later Jesus returns all who receive the mark and 1/3rd of the angels will be cast into the lake of fire. 1007 years later those not raptured will be ressurected and judged according to what they believed. The devil will escape the lake of fire and deceive many of them. Then once and for all he will be cast into the lake of fire and this nightmarish drama can finally end.
@Rapture092011Repent There are no probably, and no man knows the time, He will come as a theft in the night. I have heard all this 2011 garbage and that's what it is garbage... good luck on your September 2011...Fools leading the blind
@INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 The rapture is the single most important event in time and space. Ezekiel 38:8=Matthew 24:29-30=Rev 6:12-17=Daniel 12:1-2=2 Thess 2:7=Rev 12:7=42=Daniel 9:25-27=Salvation
2 Thess 2:7For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.
Revelation 12:7 Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.
@INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 The whole bible says rapture. Do you believe in a God who saves from disaster or one that brings disaster on you. He is both but the trick is you get to participate in the decision concerning which one he is. Doesn't it make sense that if you think he will be good to you he will be, if you think he is mean he will be mean? The whole deal is to see if anyone will have the intellegence/will power to seek him. To realize he knows what is best even if that means crusifiction
@Rapture092011Repent You show me one place thats all I am asking one place, you say the whole bible says Rapture, that just tells me you know nothing and put to much on mans understanding, man has no power and it's Gods will be done not ours. God knows every hair on our heads, he surely knows who will come, who will burn before the day you even open your eyes,Also no place does it say a God of disaster, God is love not a god of hate, God does not bring down disaster on you, your actions do
@thegillotine09 Yes, yet another God hater? We demand justice but dont punish anyone arguements. I know a better way because I am so smart and you must be wrong even though allegedly you designed our bodies with their trillion trillion trillion nano machines all working together to sustain us I still somehow know a better way. I also like the God must sustain me in a manner that I choose for eternity arguements those are great too. No evidence lol I have some beach front property in montana.
Actually I'm a Christian but I can think of no way to address what is said in this video. Heaven no longer seems like a good place to be. It would be like going to a party and looking out the window and seeing a mangled person out on the street writhing in agony and screaming for help. I don't care how good the party would be I'd spend the entire time thinking about the innocent person being tortured. Worse, the person directly responsible for his pain is hosting the party.
@thegillotine09 i was refering to the video guy not you. As far as choosing to goto the lake of fire over existing on earth for eternity. With christianity you pretty much have two choices if Jesus chooses to let you exist on the earth im sure you can tell him you would rather goto the lake of fire underground. There is War in heaven 1/3rd of the Angels will fall to the earth to trouble mankind for 7 years at the 6th seal Rev ch 6. Egypt current crisis is prophecied Isaiah 19.
@thegillotine09 You mean what will be their eternal fate? I believe Daniel 12:1-2 1 “At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.
@thegillotine09 But Daniel 12:1-2 only applies to those whos name are written in Jesus Book. Can Jesus write the names of Non believers in his book? YES of coarse Enoch for example lived before the flood he knew and was known by God surely his name is written in Jesus book but he did not have the bible to read he knew the word personally. For all those who's names are not written in the book of life they will be resurrected after the 1000 years every knee will bow and tongue confess Jesus.
@thegillotine09 List Yes, Zombie lol you mean those who are ressurected with eternal bodies that will never decay or die in Daniel 12:2 lol yes but they will only be on Earth a short time like less than a day and they won't bite Lol beutiful irony So you fully understand what you see in the coming days
I am an atheist. I can think of a lot of good reasons not to like faggots. Firstly they eat poop. Secondly they make love to poop or should I say fuck poop as faggots are incapable of love. Thirdly faggots are crazy - you’d have to be crazy to eat and fuck poop. Fourthly faggots are promiscuous (generally) which means they eat a tremendous variety of poop and fuck many poopers. Fifthly - fags are responsible for a 1/3rd of all pedophilia and 94% of pederasty (boy poop rooting).
@thegillotine09 after the 1000 years the rest of the people will be judged according to what they believed. I think God will be generous. There is some scripture that indicate that some people will be judges even judging the angels. Who knows we will all find out in time. Even the Demons believe...
I just stumbled on this today Egypt's current crisis in prophecy Isaiah 19.
There really arnt many of these people, although they claim this. Most people who dont belive in Jesus do so because of thier hatred of the doctrine. For example this is what is frequenly brought up by pretty much all athiests and as such by claiming ingnorance they are lying. They want Jesus not to be true so that they will not be judged (kind of like closing your eyes if in trouble). These people will be punished because they have tried hard to also disuade others.
Also you bring up those that believe in different gods. Well they will all or already have gotten the chance to believe. A christian is required also to preach. Although there are many peoples of different religions that have heard of christ and know the doctrine. And even if convinced they may still not wish to get rid of old belifs because of pride. All people on Jesus's side are going down. He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
You have had the opportunity to believe in the teachings of the prophet Mohammad. Why don't you convert to Islam? It's probably because you just want to close your eyes to the truth and don't want to be give up alcohol and be judged.
It can't be that there's no good reason to convert to Islam, it's because you hate Allah. Right?
Allah is not God and is not my God. I do not drink by the way. Also I know the truth that without Jesus no man can be saved. If you are saved by a meer man (Mohamed) corupting the word of God that came before him then that is blaphamey and I pray for you.
Also you act as if all men have heard or have access to the teachings of mohameed, which is in fact not true. It has always been true for Christianity so that God is more respectful
So apparently you're a lunatic or a hypocrite. I am not Muslim, but I'm pointing out that a muslim could make the same arguments you're making against Atheists and you'd dismiss them as silly, which they are. Any non-Christian believes that Jesus is simply a "meer" man corrupting the word of Yahweh before him (the Torah).
To claim that every person who has lived since Christianity began has had access to Christian doctrine is hilariously naive.
I am not a lunatic or a hypocrite, nor am am being hypocritical.
To assert that Christian doctrine is known by all nations is not fallacius it is infact the truth. And since there are little to no in depth records of most civillizations untill Christian believeing people conqured them is not to say they were not warned before hand by the Christian God. It is infact the sparity of historical records before the christian doctrine that infact backs the case for Christianity.
@MrWaterlionmonkey your beliefs are as silly as a child's belief in Santa Claus and should be treated with equal ridicule. And not just to be rude, but to show you that it is silly and childish to lay claim to ANYTHING without evidence.
@tamu77095 Oh and I should tell you, the Santa Clause line is really old and lame. It's not clever, or troubling to Christians, or true. It just shows that you refuse to consider the best arguments for Christianity. As someone who takes themselves to be the paragon of rationality, that should be troubling to you. With your whole "don't believe ANYTHING w/o evidence" crusade, you should ask yourself "have I considered the best evidence for theism?" Judging from your comments, my guess is "no".
@esizzle2005 I have heard arguments for theism, but...evidence? This isn't meant rhetorically. I'm not aware of any good evidence and it isn't because I haven't asked theists to point it out to me.
It is infact the sparity of records that benifits the Christian view. Noone else can actually use the same anaysis because historical records more reliable and recent would instantly disprove them. For example Muslims cannot claim that all men everywhere in everytime have heard of the Muslim doctrine because there are many records even from the 19th Century where entire europeon and american and asian countries have not heard of Islam. (I think im making sense)
No, you are not making sense and you're being extremely Eurocentric and you're displaying a stunning ignorance of history. You're honestly suggesting that Native Americans had access to the Bible before they made contact with Europeans? Your claim that everyone who has ever existed in the history of mankind is, quite frankly, insane.
And in any case, it's irrelevant. Most people have heard of Zeus. Why don't you worship Zeus?
I just have a long response which illistrates my opinion in a rational case and ive tried to make it easy to understand so you can get where im coming from because I dont think you understand what im trying to say. Can you please let me post this to your email. I promise you it is not atall offensive nor illogical
@Rapture092011Repent tribulation in not Rapture, an earthquake in not Rapture, Daniel speaks of Gods people not some magical rapture, are people really this lost when quoting scripture, still says nothing of Rapture, deliverance is so much different sir, You have pulled nothing speaking of your Rapture, salvation is totally different and its all been taken out of text,Show me the words rapture,God said you change any part of this book, you will feel all the plagues of it so be careful friend
@INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 lol why would I try to change the book. That would imply I think I am smarter than God and can somehow improve on his work. No I am not smarter than someone who can design millions of nano machines and have them all function together. I saw a movie the other day that said we have over 13 trilliion trillion trillion bio/mech/elect/chem processes going on in each of us every moment.
Anyway the bible is a translation. Thanks for the warning though.
Still I listen to your arguments and they make me sick. You don't have to believe in anything good and we see by your comments and stupidity that you don't. So why are you even hear trying to make people believe in your lack of understanding anything good. You have some bad issues my friend and they will follow you to the Hell you don't believe in . You are making your own bed in HELL,thanks, why would we want you in heaven, ha ha ha I laugh in your stupid face are you the antichrist, think so
@INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 As a 'Christian' , how would you be able to enjoy your eternity in heaven, if like Scott rightly points out, you know that there are countlesspeople suffering forever in hell, amongst which, some of them may be your close family and friends that never accepted Christ as their saviour? Would that feel right to you?
@summersun2828 You know what free will is,,, well you have the will to either do right or do wrong,, why would I feel sorry for those who choose wrong or lead people to hell like this guy is doing,, Same with accepting Christ,, you have free will my friends. I only have to think of my salvation as does anyone else,, we can only plant seeds and God will cultivate His garden, the weeds will burn
@INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 Would you be able to enjoy your paradise surroundings and really be happy or in order to be happy, would you have to have your mind wiped of it all? Cos anyone with an ounce of compassion would not be able to live under those circumstances!
@summersun2828 Again free will is more powerful than any feelings or enjoyment,,You choose your bed and most feel it in their conscience when they talk against God so you must really be getting eaten up inside. Plus being of God is as a servant, not some happy go lucky feeling you get. Me just like everyone deserves to burn in hell but the price for burning has been paid, it's your free will and you will live with your decision,, not me
This doesn't preclude lonely believers or cliques of believers (where each believer is only friends with other believers and nobody else) from getting into heaven. Not that I believe any of this bullcrap about heaven, especially because I'd need to first sell all my posessions to even have a shot at getting there.
@romkyns The Businessman & The Begger (look at Mark 10:17-31 (The Businessman) and Mark 10:46-52 (The Begger)). Both men are in desperate need (the only 2 gentiles Mark feels important enough to write about), the business man asks "what must "i do" to get to heaven" (notice the focus is on himself), the begger says "Lord, have mercy" (focus on Jesus) Jesus was trying to teach the businessman that it is impossible for man alone go get to heaven, Jesus set the bar so high that the man could not
@romkyns jump over it! I mean if selling all your wealth and possesions was a criteria for being a Christian, how many new people would come to Christ & how many of the current Christians would remain? No, that is not what Jesus was saying here, the real statement Jesus was making was; not by your WORKS, but by your FAITH shall you enter heaven. Have a closer look, any more questions feel free to ask.
If you as a person choose to believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins in order for your to gain salvation, then you will be sure to share this good news to the ones wh you know do 'good works' for it is not by our works, but by the grace of God that we enter the kingdom of heaven.[2 Timonth 1:9]
Now once in heaven, I dont believe you would feel guilty or bad for anyone who chose not to believe in this VERY REAL God. Besides, Old things will pass away [revelations 21:4]
I fricken love your arguments. Personally, I believe in God (not as an entity, but as a reality, if that makes sense...) but the idea of Heaven/Hell doesn't really sell to me, for the exact reasons you brought up. If Heaven and Hell exist, then I think that access to one or the other must be determined based on HOW you lived your life, not on what gods (if any) you devoted your life to.
As we approach 2011 and I read about Muslim suicide bombers in Sweden and yet another proof of Catholic priests being pedofiles I wonder just how blind people can be when they "BELIEVE"
My best friend just a few months ago paid the Catholic church $1,200 so he could "expunge" his previous Catholic marriage. He wouldn't even admit to me that it was ridiculous that you can give money to erase your sins because he "BELIEVES"
You, my dear Theoretical Bullshitter, are haunted. It's clear from the painstaking contemplation, the incessant revisiting, the pain in your eyes. You could make these videos for the rest of your life, thinking deeply and waging your war, and you would never rest in satisfaction. The Hound of Heaven is after you, and there will be no peace.
@mjb71388 - oh! So NOW there is a dog guarding the celestial gates? What did St. Peter name him? Do you have any proof for the existance of such a hound? Apparantly there is a three-headed hound that guards the gates of hell... is god just trying to keep up with the Lucifers? What breed by the way? I think Jehovah is a Chinese Crested fan myself...
Seriously, where do you fuckers get off? Please provide evidence for the existance of this Holy Dog AND THEN HIS OWNER AS WELL.
“We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones....The potential people who could have been here in my place, but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Sahara...Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton... In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here”
To me this idea, is far greater than any conceivable God
I'm going to have to submit this comment in two seperate parts as it won't let me write it all out.
To all those who are religious,
Open your eyes!! you don't need a 'superhero' God, the world is so extraordinary all on its own! Its understandable tht ppl look to God for reasssurance, and comfort, from unknown terrors such as death, but in the incredibly fantastic words of Dawkins,
Heaven is there for the taking.

P.S.
I kinda got turned off with that over dramatic lighter thing. But meh.. just my 2 cents. :/

No hell.
galiant609 1 week ago
@galiant609 Care to site a source rather then an opinion? From my study, you're in error.
dsrtdawg1 5 days ago
You don't enter the New Earth by believing that God and Jesus are real, that's clear throughout scripture. So if this God is real, and his values are also, and if you followed this God in entirety(not just by believing - but the renewing of mind and works), you wouldn't believe that those people are being punished wrongly, you'd know by his moral and righteous teachings that he righteousely judged those who refused to dedicate themselves to him and rather serve "self".
OneFaithAndOneAccord 3 weeks ago
@OneFaithAndOneAccord I myself am a Christian and I am finding it hard to understand how a loving God would send anyone to eternal suffering in Hell just because they refused to dedicate themselves to Him and chose rather to serve themselves, let alone the fact that many people simply could not believe in God rather than choose not to, as it is entirely illogical and requires faith without cause.
MrJonathanSewell 2 weeks ago
@MrJonathanSewell A God who is GOOD, is good is ALL ways: mercy, judgment, etc. A GOOD judge will punish, God is a GOOD judge, so he punishes them with what they deserve. God gave them an INCREDIBLE chance, to put true faith in Christ Jesus after they were already condemned, that they would be forgiven if they would now serve him. And if you don't have the heart to serve him, all you would have to do is sincerely ask him to create a clean heart in yourself so you will want to.
OneFaithAndOneAccord 2 weeks ago
@OneFaithAndOneAccord Outside of your book, I have one that says Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is real, what proof do you have of god? Let's be real, Jesus showed up after over 100,000 years of humanity and now he's the guy? So, god let everyone believe in Zeus, Odin, Ra, Venus, Thor for all those years and now you have the divine path?
dsrtdawg1 5 days ago
@MrJonathanSewell I understand some people HONESTLY don't believe in God, but the majority(I mean like 90%) just in actuality don't WANT to believe in God. If you've read the scriptures, it's clear God is not some God who says "believe in me with any evidence". Signs followed those who preached the Gospel: Tongues, Casting out Devils, Healing the Sick, Prophesying, Miracles, etc. In FACT, God speak to Spirit filled Christians everyday, THOUSANDS are guided by the Spirit' voice.
OneFaithAndOneAccord 2 weeks ago
@OneFaithAndOneAccord So, of the 7Billion god speaks to 1,000's everyday...wow. You are one delusional douche.
dsrtdawg1 5 days ago
@OneFaithAndOneAccord Your scriptures are an amalgamation of early christian writings and pagan beliefs to unite a tyrants empire. WHY? Because only christians would allow the such a butcher of humans into their ranks. The major religions of the time wouldn't accept his crimes against humanity. (church lady voice) Isn't that special?
dsrtdawg1 5 days ago
@MrJonathanSewell Another thing... there's three planes of existence: The Natural, the Psychological(Intellectual and Emotional), and the Spiritual. The evidence of the natural is conceived by senses, while the evidence of the spiritual in conceived by faith. If you, in sincerity and truth are HONESTLY willing to believe in God he will manifest himself to you, but it's you're choice if you want to have faith in that manifestation. God never makes it TOO hard.
OneFaithAndOneAccord 2 weeks ago

For this reason they publicly praise and glorify their 'Fuhrer', even though they know within themselves that what he is doing is evil.
dingodavid 1 month ago
Hmm there are people who believe something from between those extremes exist. Very few but I know people like that. Christians who make a big noise of themselves are the stupid ones who use religion to judge others. That's my experience anyway.

Refutingnonsense 3 months ago
@Refutingnonsense A god whose "perfect" morality would send otherwise decent human beings to fire and eternal punishment is not a god I would choose to worship, and I would rather burn in hell forever than sit in luxury as a reward for having embraced such an evil worldview that people suffering simply for not believing is not a burden on my conscience.
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t In short:
-God is bound by a spiritual law to give ALL creations free will.
-God created angels.
-1/3 of angels rebel against God lead by Lucifer.
-Lucifer and 1/3 of angels are kicked out of Heaven by Michael and sent to Earth.
-God creates Hell as prison for LUCIFER and his followers.
-Lucifer is given temporary dominion over Earth until he is "caged."
-God creates man.
-Lucifer corrupts man/severs his bond with God.
-All Hell breaks loose (i.e. the events of the Bible and beyond)
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon If God is "bound" by a "spiritual law," who made the spiritual law and why can't he break it? If he made it, why call it a law that he's bound to, and if he didn't make it, why call him God? If God is all-powerful, why does he allow Lucifer to roam over the Earth instead of throwing him in hell right away? If you say "to test mankind," well, I thought we had free will? Why throw a wrench in the works if the only end result is that fewer people will come to God?
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "If God is "bound" by a "spiritual law," who made the spiritual law" (A: He did). "why can't he break it?" (A: He's unchanging and perfect.) "If he made it, why call it a law that he's bound to" (A: Lawmakers are bound by the laws they make, as well.) "and if he didn't make it, why call him God?" (A: He did BECAUSE He is God).
Sorry if you get double messages in your inbox but I'm running out of space, sadly. :(
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon "A: He's unchanging and perfect." Which is why we can now eat pork and wear mixed fabrics, right? "Lawmakers are bound by the laws they make, as well." Lawmakers are not all-powerful. God is. For him to be all-powerful, IE omnipotent, he cannot be "bound" by anything. He may be self-limiting, but to use the word bound is to imply he CAN'T break it. "He did BECAUSE He is God" Good people don't need rules. If God needs to make rules for himself, what's that tell you about him?
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "Good people don't need rules. If God needs to make rules for himself, what's that tell you about him?" (A: The fact that He stands by a spiritual law that demands His creations be given free will tells me that He is incredibly controlled, patient, and yes powerful.)
awcomeon 2 months ago
@Gemini4t Perhaps you should stop trying to apply human logic to His actions. Being fickle and having the ability to change one's mind is hardly indicative of having any power. Trying to understand God with your mind will admittedly get you nowhere. It requires spiritual understanding.
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon "Perhaps you should stop trying to apply human logic to His actions. " Perhaps I should stop using my brain and just blindly accept something that's so fundamentally flawed? Logic has brought us out of the dark ages and into a realm of scientific and technological marvel. I can only USE my human brain because it's all I can rely on. If God wanted us to believe in him maybe he shouldn't have made himself so irrational, inconsistent and implausible.
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "Perhaps I should stop using my brain and just blindly accept something that's so fundamentally flawed?" (A: No. You should not 'stop using your brain.' You should look at this from a spiritual perspective.) "Logic has brought us out of the dark ages and into a realm of scientific and technological marvel." (A: No. Intellect and research has.) "I can only USE my human brain because it's all I can rely on." (A: I know.)
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon "You should look at this from a spiritual perspective." That's a non-answer, but I'll try to do it anyway. I will assume that my "spiritual perspective" is my emotional gut-feeling, because that's what spirituality was to me when I was a Christian. Anyone who would be so capricious as to condemn a good person to eternal torment because they wouldn't worship that person is not worthy of the worship, and is one of the most evil forces on the planet. That's my spiritual conjecture.
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "I will assume that my "spiritual perspective" is my emotional gut-feeling" (A: No.) "because that's what spirituality was to me when I was a Christian." (A: Let me guess, you never felt God's presence and couldn't understand why He allows all the evil in the world to exist and so you quit.)
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon Wrong. I felt God's presence VERY strongly for most of my childhood life. It was only later in life that I realized I had associated the warm fuzzy gut feeling of positive emotion with what I thought was God. Please understand me that I once was a very strong and devout Christian, and I came to the place I am now not out of anger but out of rationality and understanding. I do speak with anger at certain terms, because I am a moral person, and you are turning off your empathy to believe

And it's based heavily on spiritual perspective.
awcomeon 2 months ago

Really?)
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon "But didn't sincerely believe what you were arguing? Well that's just silly." I DID sincerely believe it. I'm not questioning your sincerity, please don't question mine. "Are you implying that I don't have empathy? Really?" If you truly had empathy you'd hate Yahweh for sending billions to hell because of the standards he decided to set in place. A parent who would condemn a disobedient child to an eternal torture of which there was no escape would be evil. Why is God morally exempt?
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "But at the end of the day, even if you were right and Yahweh was real, I would not worship him, because he is EVIL." (A: You seem to be harboring bitterness about something and are angry with God. I think that deep down you believe that God exists, but you question His goodness. It's a very common thing. Even David questioned and struggled with God. And so did Habakkuk (Habakkuk 1:2-17 is quite interesting). It's human nature to question and try to make sense. You're not wrong.
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon "You seem to be harboring bitterness about something and are angry with God." I can't be angry with someone who doesn't exist. I am angry that people want to believe in a supreme being capable of and willing to do such evil acts. I'm glad that you think I believe deep down God exists, because you clearly know me better than myself, but let me counter: isn't it true that deep down you believe Allah exists but you question His goodness? Or do you simply reject Islam without belief in it?
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "I can't be angry with someone who doesn't exist." (A: You're not familiar with one of the stages of anger...denial.) "I am angry that people want to believe in a supreme being capable of and willing to do such evil acts." (A: And yet you admit to once being an avid follower of this "evil being." Interesting how Christianity can be turned on and off like a light switch. Or perhaps you were just going through the motions?"
awcomeon 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "isn't it true that deep down you believe Allah exists but you question His goodness? Or do you simply reject Islam without belief in it?" (A: Allah is the Arabic name for God. Islam is also an Abrahamic religion. You probably should've used Vishnu for this analogy. And you were the one who claimed to once be Christian and sound genuinely bitter to me. I believe my assumption holds validity.)

(A: Lucifer is still bound by God and cannot do anything without God's permission...yet.) "If you say "to test mankind," well, I thought we had free will?" (A: Lucifer's purpose is not to "test mankind." It never was.

Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "Why throw a wrench in the works if the only end result is that fewer people will come to God?" (A: refer to my last statement in my previous post.) "Which is why we can now eat pork and wear mixed fabrics, right?" (A: Jewish/cultural laws/customs were different prior to the crucifixion. Due to man's separation from God.) "For him to be all-powerful, IE omnipotent, he cannot be "bound" by anything...(A: Again, do not confuse "cannot" with inability).
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon "Jewish/cultural laws/customs were different prior to the crucifixion. Due to man's separation from God." If you violated these laws you were considered evil and worthy of hell. If God said this at some point, he either still means it now, or he changed his mind and is thus NOT "unchanging." If God were truly unchanging he wouldn't have sent Jesus down to CHANGE THINGS. "Again, do not confuse "cannot" with inability." But that's EXACTLY what cannot means. You're thinking "will not."
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "If you violated these laws you were considered evil and worthy of hell. If God said this at some point, he either still means it now, or he changed his mind and is thus NOT "unchanging."" (A: Yes. Prior to the crucifixion which ruled most of the laws obsolete. One of the laws was the necessity of a sacrificial lamb for cleansing of sin. This would not have been needed if Adam and Eve had not disobeyed God and eaten of the forbidden tree. Cont'd...(YouTube is annoying for this...)
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon "One of the laws was the necessity of a sacrificial lamb for cleansing of sin." Why? God is all powerful. Why does he demand the destruction of an innocent creature to appease things that he just happened to decide were evil? Why couldn't he just accept an apology? He's God, he's all-powerful, he can make the rules, which means he could make better rules. Demanding death is barbaric and hateful.
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t A Cont'd: In order for salvation from this disobedience to occur, human sacrifice was required by spiritual law. God manifested Himself as a human and allowed Himself to be sacrificed significantly rattling Lucifer's hold on humanity. "If God were truly unchanging he wouldn't have sent Jesus down to CHANGE THINGS." (A: It all goes back to spiritual laws which now exist to draw humanity back to God.)
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon You keep mentioning spiritual laws as an explanation for why, but it doesn't answer why. It's an absolutely bullshit argument. If all spiritual law is made by God, then just cut out the middleman and say God demands X. But WHY does God demand X? What sense does it make? If he's all-powerful and all-knowing, if he can make reality whatever he wants, why doesn't he make it better? He could alter reality to allow for free will without so much fucked up stuff in the world. Don't deny it.
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "You keep mentioning spiritual laws as an explanation for why, but it doesn't answer why. It's an absolutely bullshit argument." (A: Misunderstanding or disliking an argument does not designate it as bullshit. Or my fault for that matter.) "He could alter reality to allow for free will without so much fucked up stuff in the world." (A: That's the plan. Or haven't you read his best seller 'The Bible: Mankind's Search For The White Rabbit?')
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon "Misunderstanding or disliking an argument does not designate it as bullshit. Or my fault for that matter." I'm not misunderstanding the argument, you are. You say "God does this because it's spiritual law." "Well who writes the law?" "God does!" It's circular reasoning and thus cannot be used as an explanation for WHY. It'd be like you saying "I can't wear green." "Why not?" "Because of a personal law imposed on me." "Who wrote the law?" "I did." We are now back to the "why" question.
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "But that's EXACTLY what cannot means. You're thinking "will not." (A: And you're thinking with your human logic once again. I know it sounds silly and makes absolutely no sense. And if you try to figure it out in the natural as opposed to the spiritual it will continue to do so. With the accompanying headache. -_-)
awcomeon 2 months ago
@awcomeon "And you're thinking with your human logic once again." Well I'm glad you can turn off your brain and happily accept a God who sends billions to eternal damnation because they couldn't suspend their disbelief regardless of how decent they were, but if there is a God he made me with a rational brain and an inquisitive nature and he would want me to seek the truth, not some wishy-washy nonsensical mythological bullshit.
Gemini4t 2 months ago
@Gemini4t "Well I'm glad you can turn off your brain..." (A: I never said anything about turning off one's brain. My brain is on. Is your brain on?) "...and happily accept a God who sends billions to eternal damnation because they couldn't suspend their disbelief regardless of how decent they were," (A: Did you not read my very first post to you?

Also the Bible says if you never find out about God you will be judged by the standard of your own conscience. Romans 2:12-16

What about the proposition that you shall not kill because its against god's nature, but I read somewhere in the bible that the earth was flooded for 40 days and nights by god wiping out almost the entire human population (including innocent children), therefore is god going to hell? is god blasphemous by his own standards? I have had the same thoughts. This has led me to believe that the "GOD" portrayed by "commercial religion" may not be the God that actually exists. All these man-made pretenses of "GOD" are just that, man-made. I don't believe God is going to send anyone to hell unless they are truly evil (manson, bundy, dahmer etc.). For those of us just trying to live our lifes the best we know how God is not a damning character, but should represent all that life entails. IMO

Christians like to dwell on nonbelievers being eternally tortured because it clears their mind of the fact that one day we will all be worm food. But, still, await the resurrection of this body. That is far out.
unanimous300 5 months ago
Christians have been so thoroughly trashed by unbelievers that they reject morality altogether now and say that all that matters is belief in Christ. Why have the 10 commandments when they can all be ignored and insulted all your life if you only accept Christ on your death bed? Why be charitable, kind, generous and forgiving? Why, if doing all these things, without Christ, leads to damnation?
Why develop your child's mind and curiosity if it might lead to critical thinking and atheism?

Another fool questions that heaven might not be real if it doesn't have to do with human attachments.
thekolstad 7 months ago
@thekolstad Scriptural descriptions of Heaven are mundane and mirror human life on Earth, i.e. house of many mansions and sitting at a table with Christ. So why would someone disbelieve scripture and speculate on a heaven free of human attachments? It is now common that Christians will substitute their own imaginings where the Bible clearly says otherwise. Fewer than a fraction of 1% of so-called Christians actually use the Bible as a reference. The rest are counterfeits, in it for the rewards.

Hi.
You are true to yourself, I can see that.
All best from Dracula Land.

@esizzle2005

It is not how a mature, rational mind should work
tamu77095 9 months ago
That was so intense O.O
rsgirl10 9 months ago
You claim to be making a point to Christians in general, but your criticism only falls on one brand of Christian--fundamentalists. The doctrine of an eternal hell of physical, metnal, etc. pain is not shared by all Christians and thus isn't a necessary condition for being one. So you need something more if you're going to reject Christianity. You say "there's an evidence deficit". But that just shows you haven't read Plantinga, Swinburne, Craig, and others (i.e. you're not looking very hard).
esizzle2005 9 months ago
@esizzle2005 if you believe in a supernatural power without evidence than you pretty much are a fundamentalist. I mean you still believe in something as silly as say Santa Claus and should be treated with equal ridicule.
tamu77095 9 months ago
@tamu77095 You said "If you believe in a supernatural power without evidence than you pretty much are a fundamentalist." But that's precisely what's at issue, pal! I'm saying there IS evidence and if you read the work of Christian philosophers, you'll see that it's strong. By equating the the weakest form of Christianity--fundamentalism--with Christianity, as atheists often do, you're refusing to engage the best arguments for theism, and that's being intellectually lazy.
esizzle2005 9 months ago
@esizzle2005 i like how you didn't make any arguments, let alone good ones. U just said there 'are' arguments... no, im sorry, if you make them il address them, but until then you remind me of a child that believes in Santa Claus trying to refute that he doesn't exist
tamu77095 9 months ago
@tamu77095 Incidentally, the claim that there's no evidence for theism is false by anyone's standards. Evidence is easy to get. It's just some consideration that speaks in favor of a given conclusion. The cosmological, moral, fine-tuning, noological, and ontological arguments all qualify. The question is "Is it sufficient to persuade you?" That's debatable. What's not debatable is the question of whether or not there is evidence. To think otherwise is to misunderstand what evidence is.

The idea is that everyone will be "judged" and God makes the final decision based on the person's character. However, as the Bible doesn't always agree with itself it is hard to say. You need not to convince anyone they are wrong. If they are stupid enough to believe this in the first place they will be stupid enough not to hear you.

@thegillotine09

@MrWaterlionmonkey
Right?
thegillotine09 10 months ago
@thegillotine09
MrWaterlionmonkey 10 months ago
@MrWaterlionmonkey
To claim that every person who has lived since Christianity began has had access to Christian doctrine is hilariously naive.
thegillotine09 10 months ago 12
@thegillotine09
MrWaterlionmonkey 10 months ago
@MrWaterlionmonkey your beliefs are as silly as a child's belief in Santa Claus and should be treated with equal ridicule. And not just to be rude, but to show you that it is silly and childish to lay claim to ANYTHING without evidence.
tamu77095 9 months ago
@tamu77095 Oh and I should tell you, the Santa Clause line is really old and lame. It's not clever, or troubling to Christians, or true. It just shows that you refuse to consider the best arguments for Christianity. As someone who takes themselves to be the paragon of rationality, that should be troubling to you. With your whole "don't believe ANYTHING w/o evidence" crusade, you should ask yourself "have I considered the best evidence for theism?" Judging from your comments, my guess is "no".
esizzle2005 9 months ago
@esizzle2005 I have heard arguments for theism, but...evidence? This isn't meant rhetorically. I'm not aware of any good evidence and it isn't because I haven't asked theists to point it out to me.

@thegillotine09
MrWaterlionmonkey 10 months ago
@MrWaterlionmonkey

@Rapture092011Repent tribulation in not Rapture, an earthquake in not Rapture, Daniel speaks of Gods people not some magical rapture, are people really this lost when quoting scripture, still says nothing of Rapture, deliverance is so much different sir, You have pulled nothing speaking of your Rapture, salvation is totally different and its all been taken out of text,Show me the words rapture,God said you change any part of this book, you will feel all the plagues of it so be careful friend
INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 1 year ago

@INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 Name calling and personal attacks do not answer the question Scott has risen in the minds of honest hearted individuals.
summersun2828 1 year ago
@INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 As a 'Christian' , how would you be able to enjoy your eternity in heaven, if like Scott rightly points out, you know that there are countlesspeople suffering forever in hell, amongst which, some of them may be your close family and friends that never accepted Christ as their saviour? Would that feel right to you?
summersun2828 1 year ago
@summersun2828 You know what free will is,,, well you have the will to either do right or do wrong,, why would I feel sorry for those who choose wrong or lead people to hell like this guy is doing,, Same with accepting Christ,, you have free will my friends. I only have to think of my salvation as does anyone else,, we can only plant seeds and God will cultivate His garden, the weeds will burn
INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 1 year ago
@INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 Would you be able to enjoy your paradise surroundings and really be happy or in order to be happy, would you have to have your mind wiped of it all? Cos anyone with an ounce of compassion would not be able to live under those circumstances!
summersun2828 1 year ago
@summersun2828 Again free will is more powerful than any feelings or enjoyment,,You choose your bed and most feel it in their conscience when they talk against God so you must really be getting eaten up inside. Plus being of God is as a servant, not some happy go lucky feeling you get. Me just like everyone deserves to burn in hell but the price for burning has been paid, it's your free will and you will live with your decision,, not me
INTERINVESTCHANNEL1 1 year ago
This doesn't preclude lonely believers or cliques of believers (where each believer is only friends with other believers and nobody else) from getting into heaven. Not that I believe any of this bullcrap about heaven, especially because I'd need to first sell all my posessions to even have a shot at getting there.
romkyns 1 year ago
@romkyns The Businessman & The Begger (look at Mark 10:17-31 (The Businessman) and Mark 10:46-52 (The Begger)). Both men are in desperate need (the only 2 gentiles Mark feels important enough to write about), the business man asks "what must "i do" to get to heaven" (notice the focus is on himself), the begger says "Lord, have mercy" (focus on Jesus) Jesus was trying to teach the businessman that it is impossible for man alone go get to heaven, Jesus set the bar so high that the man could not
Massiah82 1 year ago
@romkyns jump over it! I mean if selling all your wealth and possesions was a criteria for being a Christian, how many new people would come to Christ & how many of the current Christians would remain? No, that is not what Jesus was saying here, the real statement Jesus was making was; not by your WORKS, but by your FAITH shall you enter heaven. Have a closer look, any more questions feel free to ask.
Massiah82 1 year ago
If you as a person choose to believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins in order for your to gain salvation, then you will be sure to share this good news to the ones wh you know do 'good works' for it is not by our works, but by the grace of God that we enter the kingdom of heaven.[2 Timonth 1:9]
Now once in heaven, I dont believe you would feel guilty or bad for anyone who chose not to believe in this VERY REAL God. Besides, Old things will pass away [revelations 21:4]
God Bless!

To all those who are religious,
Open your eyes!! you don't need a 'superhero' God, the world is so extraordinary all on its own! Its understandable tht ppl look to God for reasssurance, and comfort, from unknown terrors such as death, but in the incredibly fantastic words of Dawkins,
