This is an excellent video. Great sound. I like how you push the car without taking stupid chances like crossing the centre line or blasting full speed over blind crests. Good job! I am curious, how do the brakes hold up on a drive like this? Any fade?
Great video! Probably among the best on YouTube with a stock Mk5. I used to have this car, and my favorite thing was cracking the window open on a cool night and hearing the turbo. VW did a great job with that, and with the induction sound that's piped into the cabin.
i watch this video EVERY SINGLE DAY. i LOVE IT. you are an excellent driver my friend, and very fun to watch. QUESTION: i know of the pros of the the pend/tranny mount but from your experience what is the cons? ive seen it make some rattling in other cars, almost a statis noise while at low rpms / or on/off throttle (no clutch) on turns. whats your take? noise annoying? tuner worthy? obnoxious? barely there? THANK YOU SIR YOU ROCK
@MintzUk Hey man, I don't have visuals for the setup, but essentially its a tripod, placed on top of some foam for vibration reduction, and held in place by taught bungee cords. Not a bad stand-in for a proper glass mount.
Nice man, that was a really smooth 1-2 and 2-3 shift man. Great upshifting. I have a 2010 Mk6 w/6 spd man. I find it hard to avoid the lurch or jerkiness when shifting in low gears under hard driving. Any tips?
@rushcreek77 Cheers! I found after driving the car for 6 months I finally was smooth with its transmission and clutch... I think what makes it hard is that the engine likes to rev up, but not down.
I drove up and down highway 1 on the California coast several times after I bought my Mk6. Then I read in the news a few days later that parts of that road had collapsed into the ocean. I'm pretty sure my baddass GTI caused that.
wow, I was actually considering dsg.. But after I saw this I'll stick to manual for sure. I can't believe this car is still running factory software and the exhaust is stock.. Great driving
@greekmuscle Test drive both before you make your decsion, but ya I also went with the manual and I can say I wouldn't have it any other way. Its just plainly more fun, and tbh you can do loads with the money you will save from getting the manual.
@greekmuscle Awesome man! Grats, idk about you but I couldn't stand waiting for that. Im sure you'll love it, and hey with the money you saved you can go for APR Stage 1 when your ready :)
Jesus man, your a hell of a driver! I'd s*&# my pants if i drove my gti that fast lol. Just out of curiosity, where is this? Looks like a MA inspection sticker on the car?
@cemsengul16 biggest bang for buck is surely an ECU... @mikepartyboy likes the GIAC over APR, but either will give you a 50hp bump! lighter wheels make the steering more accurate and fun. if you really want to go HUGE go for a limited-slip differential. that will transform the car into a beast in regard to controlling corner rotation with the throttle, you may even get some power oversteer. Otherwise, I can't recommend modifying the suspension at all. Good luck and have fun!
Might I add...you may want to reconsider APR for GIAC.
Regal GTi and GTI RSR/RSS all use GIAC program
I can see you know some what about the car. I too would do Racing tires, Brake Pad Upgrade...but would go for GIAC program or Stock. Unfortunately I have DSG...and its boring as hell. Don't want to keep the car no more.
dude this looks like so much fun where is this at i would love to take my mkv there we could play cat and mouse lol oh and what kind of camera do you have i would love to get one!
I'm surprised that you don't have more views! This is an awesome video. I love the camera setup and your driving is excellent. You can really hear that bypass valve working when you get off the gas lol. Before I read the description I thought that you had an aftermarket intake. I drive the GTI's competition (Mazdaspeed3), but I love the "Golf" lineup.
Nice video, nice gti, nice blow off!! ARG
