Funny how Wally had that vocoder sound down way before Disney nation and all those lame dance mix tunes got a hold on it. He was a great character actor. Who could forget his turn on the Twilight Zone when his super computer, Agnes, develops a fatal attraction crush on him. He makes that somewhat thin episode worth watching.
This record reached #24 in May 1953. The flip side, "What A Crazy Guy," was also a hit -- reaching #27. It was Cox's only successful single. And yes, Wally was the voice of Underdog.
@BRuggs666 - that he did, and there are those not quite old enough to remember Mr Peepers who recognise him mostly for reading the role of Shoeshine Boy/Underdog.
a talented performer, died too too young, and a pity that his biggest exposure was on Hollywood Squares...sigh...but hey Wally we remember ya, you're a classic and an inspiration
@vrikey Yeah, 'younger' audiences (those born after 1960-1970 probably knew Wally best from Hollywood Squares, but he became a star in the early years of TV as "Mr. Peepers."
I think I remember him first in a mid 60's detergent TV ad.
