This is my favorite version. most of the other singers try to jazz it up and show off their voice with different tricks with staccato or whatever. Carrie sings it simply with that golden voice of hers. This song is not about how great a singer you are. This song is about humility. Our Lord Jesus is born. Fall on your knees.
@LegoLord27 It is a beautiful song, and I wholly agree that Carrie captures the humility and grace with which the song is meant to portray. However, and I realize that you may not care, but your use of 'staccato' is incorrect. 'Staccato' means "short and detached." The word you're looking for is 'melisma,' which is pretty much just crazy runs occurring on a single syllable. If you've ever heard Christina Aguilera, you've heard a melisma. :)
Beautifully sung, as usual with anything that Carrie does. But unfortunately she only sang the first verse. There are three, and very rare to get all, but most renditions have two. . .
I can NOT find a copy of this song anywhere!! I've even tried to download the video itself and convert it to mp3, but it doesn't work, haha. Someone help me! This is my favorite version :)
@JeremyFillipp I actually found this version better than Carrie's holiday special. I thought she really messed up the ending there. In any event, O Holy Night is one of my favorite songs, not just including Christmas songs. Carrie did okay with it, better than I would think as I am not a Carrie fan, but Josh Groban's version is amazing compared to this.
@kmscore3131 well I just youtube searched a random video of Carrie underwood's o holy night...then I downloaded the video onto realplayer(if you right click on the video you have the option to do that) then after the video's downloaded I open up realplayer and then I put in a blank disc and copied the audio of the video onto the disc...I think this song is on itunes also...and you can buy carries "mini" xmas album on amazon too:) sorry if that was confusing
@kmscore3131 This may no longer be relevant, but a year ago you inquired as to where you could get a copy of Carrie Underwood's performance of O Holy Night. This song and four others are available on a bonus disk that came with a re-release of her second CD, Carnival Ride. I just checked iTunes, and as of now only one of the songs is available as part of a different release. I'm sure the Carnival Ride re-release CD is still kickin' around though :)
Dear Christina,
This is how you cover a classic.
Love,
Carrie Fans

Truly beautiful. Wish she would come out with a Christmas or Gospel Album. She has such passion for both.

I would have to say I prefer Carrie's over Mariah's. Her is by far the best version I have heard! Especially on her Christmas Special!

@JeremyFillipp Her version, to me, is the best. But then again I'm a huge Reba fan. LOL!
