Her legs are skinny also because she was very tiny. Most people don't realize that from how she appeared in movies. Of course, the other things you mention are also factors.

@willec49 In Judy's youthful films such as Andy Hardy and Wizard of Oz, whatever her height she was a mesomorph -- her face, arms and legs are young and full, before the decades of undereating, smoking, alcohol and pill popping (and anxiety) took their toll. Here she truly looks anorexic. But short stature does not cause or correlate with skinniness.

Yes I know it's fantasy thinking that. Whenever I view this I always get chills seeing Judy walk up from be hind and hearing the audience applaude!

For all of Judy's demons, she was one heck of a mom. She could so easily overshadow Liza with her voice and acting, but she doesn't. She completely plays it down and tries to give her daughter the lead. Just amazing, with all of her struggles. And, to Museleaders, her legs are so skinny because she was a raging alcoholic, pill popper and probably never really exercised. RIP Judy, you were 'Just Great!'

I think this is so gorgeous, Liza is so young, she hasn't yet developed the awesome stage presence and performance discipline she is now famed for, but Judy is constantly scaling back her performance so that Liza can shine. Judy's voice, despite all the drugs and booze, was still incredibly powerful and she could definitely have outshone Liza vocally at this time, but she doesn't. I love hearing the beautiful & different qualities of each of their unique voices.

She sounds exactly like her mother. Judy Garland is really short. It's so cool. she's the same hight as the famous singer Kristin Chenoweth. Kristin is 40 years old. Kristin is the blonde, modern version of Judy Garland. I swear. She was even in the broadway musical wicked, which is supposed to be the other side of Wizard of Oz. (She didn't play Dorothy though. She played Glinda. But in wicked, Glinda is the lead role.)
