The idea behind it was pretty good. I think that Shogun didi this becouse Arona is a wrestler. So Shogun pretended a low kick, so that Arona would go down, try to catch his leg and take Shogun down. If he would have done that ... man, that right leg would just kill him in the face.

In fact, all youtube videos show taekwondo fighters performing tornado kicks, not muay thai fighters. Additionally, a little search on google that the tornado kick derives from korean martial arts (including taekwondo), not thailand.

That Capoeira kick is called a Martello Cruzado. If he would have followed it up with a spinning heel hook I think that would have been a good combination. He would have prevented Ricardo Aronas jab to the side of the head and he could have possibly KO him

@karimrakha That's a dumb statement. That kick could have landed if it was executed a little better, plus the Thai Tornado Kick is super effective if it hits. His opponent didn't see it coming and would have little time to counter it. On top of that, shogun has excellent jitz to make sure the kick didn't have too much risk. It's like when I play chess and I use a line that isn't the "best" but my opponents never seen it before and they are unsure how to counter. Obviously there is risk in both.
