  • God bless Mike Smith. What freaking incredible rock vocals that man possessed. He's right up there with Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Mick Jagger, Roger Daltry, Otis Redding and Janis Joplin. No doubt in my mind.

  • Wow, that is so cool!

  • i got this original record for my 15 birthday...

    two days ago :)

  • YOU'VE JUST BEEN INVADED!!! IT"S ALRIGHT!!!! IT'S ALRIGHT!!!! IT'S ALRIGHT!!!

  • Thank you for this

  • Great! I've known and loved the KISS version for more than 30 years and I was always curious about the original. And here it is for my very first time. Thank God for Youtube!

  • awesome tune...I want it exactly like it is!

  • The lyrics of, Any Way You Want It, by Journey is much like this.

  • If you think this is far out, you should listen to some of my Procol Harum!

  • @bob69240 I'll listen to them both, but the Beatles are my first choice. The DC5, while good, stuck to the same sound for more of their recordings, while the Beatles used different ones.

  • IT'S ALRIGHT ! . . .

  • @bob69240 I've been telling people that for years and they think I'm nuts, I'm sick of The Beatles but never the DC5 !

  • @mar9man7 I've heard the Beatles and the DC5 an equal amounts of time over the years, and am not sick of either. The Beatles didn't decide how often their music would be played. Radio stations did. If you don't want to get sick of their music, don't listen to it for a while, then go back to it. It will sound fresher and newer then.

  • @sapphiretaurus As I said, I never got tired of the DC5, there was nothing to refresh. Sure I liked The Beatles when I was younger, but my tastes have changed over 55 years of listening to R&R, the DC5 always had an edge to them, for me The Beatles for the most part don't. I just prefer stuff with an edge, doesn't mean The Beatles aren't great.

  • @mar9man7 Now if you can solve the tea or coffee

debate, you might win the Nobel Prize.

Is it chocolate, or is it vanilla?

How about they're both great and you don't need

    to choose either/or.

  • @fntime So in your world no one has preferences, everyone likes coffee and tea, chocolate or vanilla. I didn't say The Beatles weren't great, they just don't hold up for me like the DC5. I'm not trying to convince anyone who is better, my post was in agreement with another DC5 fan. Lighten up, it's just music.

  • @mar9man7 Did you ever think, that your mind has been taken over? You think I'm fuckin' with you, but I'm not! Your response is neither right or wrong, but it is very 'conditioned'. Did you get approval from the 'Official Dave Clark Dynsty;? If you didn't then you are the guy who informed Andrew Jackson, that the Brit were coming to New Orleans! You sir, caused that situation, the Dave Clark Five are gods, but YOU spit in their face(lol) You and your convincing. Behave yourself, limey!
  • @mar9man7 - I agree with you. I love The Beatles and they came close -- but for sheer power & intensity -- Mike Smith is overwhelming. His rock vocals are superlative. There are few who were as consistently great as Smith. Of course, the entire DC5 band was excellent & I loved the upfront drums of Dave Clark & that pounding saxophone that anchored every tune. They were actually never matched for that heavyweight sound they produced on a 45. Not even The Stones. or The Who during this period.

  • @fntime Like tea, hate coffee. Like Beatles, like DC5. It's not always that simple.

  • This is one of Elliot Eastons favorite songs. (lead guitarist for The Cars)

  • This is rock & roll as it was intended to be! This beats Journey's song of the same name by a country mile. Nevertheless, I would like to try a medley of the two songs; it just might work!

  • Dave Clark stood by his friend Freddie Mercury until the end... All hail!

  • Far Out!

  • That's just groovy

  • long live the DC5 - Iike i DIG it man~~~

  • Kiss covered this in Alive 2. It must be good.

  • @n2uid01 So did the Ramones

  • My fav DC5 song...late 1964...

  • The DC5 might not have been as the Fab 4, but they sure did put them on notice. I actually like the DC5 better.

  • Dowwnload the audio from this vid at speedyconversion doht cohm.

  • Kiss did an okay version of this -- so did the Ramones -- but this is still the best because the sound is so incredibly tight. Imagine this coming over an AM car radio in 1964.

  • @vp81955 they use an echoplex on the vocal at 0:41

  • 37 bull elephants were killed and their testicles harvested to produce the testosterone needed to record this song.

  • @Zzbzq ??????

  • @Zzbzq Perfect reply.

  • That's great...

But, have you listen the KISS version...???

    Its great too...!!!

I'm a big KISS fan and I think that it's great...

  • A great rockin' tune by the Dave Clark 5,& its flipside 'Everybody knows I still love you' is a nice ballad!

  • Great song and very good sound quality. It would be nice, though, to have uncompressed 24-bit/192k sampling stereo and 7.1-surround versions of this and other great oldies songs which would VASTLY improve those songs' sound quality! Perhaps this and other great oldies songs will find their way to the Blu-ray Profile 3.0 Audio format.

  • hey it's free man, i'm not complaining haha.....

  • i ll take dave and the boys version anytime

  • Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons turned this song into a masterpiece.

  • @CirSam Im glad ive never heard their version!
