  • OK i will be honest!.I was a punk in the 80s and i was in care in England.Me and my twin sister.Adults treated me really badly and i never got over it.I think young people still get a shit deal in life if they are not middle class and heading to university and if they don,t have two parents who love them. That is the reason i am angry that Keith Morris is speaking this way.He does not know the life that kids have today.

  • the problem is this! no one should be part of a movement that is centred around young people only to grow older and feel like punching young people because they do not understand his point of view.Youth changes with each generation "Yes i know we should all be one happy family however down here on planet earth ".I don,t go around wanting to punch young people because they do not think exactly the same as me! This the reason that punk started in the first place because old people think like this

  • Is this what the punk scene has turned into? Keith Morris shaking with anger wanting to punch some kid.A man in his 50s talking down to someone young that does not know as much about punk as him because they are young and inexperienced regarding music? Keith Morris talking about a younger generation badly like an old man bitching. Is this what punk is now? oh dear

  • @missqueenieful Destroy All Monthly operated around the early 2000's. He said he wanted to punch them, not that he did. Then he turned them on to DOA. Where the hell is the harm in that?

  • the commodore rules

  • My heroes...are old :( they better get back together soon or ill be rather upset

  • it was fucking bananas

  • Keith is great

  • my dreads look almost like his for some strange reason...not as long though.

  • He's fucked

  • Ah, the bumper sticker you could never put on the back of dad's sedan...

"If You Don't Like DOA, Please call 1-800-FUCK-YOU"

  • Beeyand.

  • i'm relatively young to have seen those bands BUT i did see the original Bad Brains in 1994,,i was 20,,at Tipitina's New Orleans...yes they were badass HR had pretty much just rejoined for the umpteenth time but it was INSANELY BADASS...also saw Pink Floyd the same year which was ALSO INSANELY BADASS minus Roger Waters

  • "Fucking Bananas"

  • There's nothing wrong with what he's saying, but the look on is face says "head injury."

  • end of discussion otherwise pm me that jpg

    it doesn't exist.

  • I'm not seeing any 1978 on any disco sucks lps.

the skulls in l.a. formed in late 76' as did a lot of other bands like the fly boys and crowd.

you guys couldn't produce a link with a jpeg of 1978 as evidence. you have no evidence. just lies and attempts at being earlier than you were. nice try but it didn't work. panic was before doa and they ripped off another band with that named which was greg gins pre black flag band.

you canadian idiots are nugatory liars.

    lmao

  • @JimmyHeartburn75 canadians just ride socals coattails. we created the hardcore scene. you Goons just wish you did. instead you had to copy the lame and boring uk scene to get your poser clothing looks. hahaha

and yeah doa didn't have shit out in 78 because there is no musterplate label from them to speak of. someone is free to try to prove me wrong and post that from some free image site. but so far I have only seen reissues trying to back date when the band wasnt even called doa.

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork No, we don't wish we created hardcore. What part did YOU have in creating hardcore? What band were you in?

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork "I have only seen reissues trying to back date when the band wasnt even called doa" What do you mean? They were always called DOA. Go on google and look up either DOA Disco Sucks or DOA The Prisoner, I found scans of both 7"s with 1978 on the label. I've also found gig posters from '78 with DOA. But I'm sure you'll just say they've been photoshopped. I supposed anyone who says they saw them in 1978 or had their records then are lying right?

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork typical american arrogance. yeah hc came from la, but unless you played in middle class...YOU didnt create shit. snorting coke off darby crash's dick back in 1977 doesnt count either, fuckin hollywood queer

i bet you still get "roq" hard for rodney, dont you?

  • @JimmyHeartburn75 the skulls came well before DOA. theres documentation of that on flipsides show reviews. As for DOA, would love to see your concert evidence from 78 considering they didn't even form until early 79 then had a record come out in 79, NOT 78.

The middle class were called hardcore in 79 by exene cervenka, as were other socal bands as the hollywood crowd grew tired of the new hardcore scene emerging. You can also hear those quotes in the decline movie before doa named an lp that

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork I know you think LA is the center of the universe but believe it or not, punk rock DID exist outside of LA and NYC in 1977. The LA Skulls were around before DOA, but the (BC) Skulls formed in the summer of 77, recorded a demo in october then moved to Toronto. It was there where they split up, then Shithead came back to Vancouver and formed DOA in early 1978. Why are you the ONLY person in the world who doesn't believe that? What's your deal?!

  • Comment removed

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork how do you know? were you in vancouver in 78? youre fucking cooked

  • i could listen to keith talk and sing all day...........bad brains 10th green day first in the rolling stones poll of best punk bands,I would pay to hear keiths response to that travesty............

  • In the way he talks, Kieth Morris is like a punk rock snape

  • @JimmyHeartburn75 riiiiiiiiite, i'm sure it was just coincidence. riiiiiite.

    "and i'm a nasty nazi" - simpletones.

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork I'm sure there's lots of bands out there in the world that have called themselves The Skulls. Did LA's Skulls have a record out in 1977?

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork Why not? There was more than one Youth Brigade, Subhumans, Jerry's KIds, etc

  • @JimmyHeartburn75 if anyone wants to compare, youtube "middle class out of vogue". then look for the one that has the whole ep of songs. "insurgence" for its time is probably still more brutal than a slayer song today.

  • @JimmyHeartburn75 another thing, that disco sucks ep isn't even anywhere near being as fast as the middle class record that came out before it. nothing was as fast as the middle class record, nothing. not even black flags first record which came out a tiny bit later. So many bands got their speed ideas from the middle class from the adolescents, tsol, china white, vandals, etc etc.

    case closed

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork I don't think DOA ever claimed to be faster than Middle Class (or anybody for that matter). In fact nobody's arguing that Out Of Vogue was the first 'hardcore' song. (Although no one called it hardcore at the time)

  • @JimmyHeartburn75 I looked on discogs + didnt see a picture of any actual 7 or 12 inch vinyl records with the 1978 on the middle label. Other than some reissue looking thing that someone copymachined 1978, there was no evidence.

The Middle Class formed in 77 + had the very first actual "Hardcore" record out in march 78. They also played the masque in L.A. not much later than that. So no one even knew who Doa was then but a lot of punks knew who the middle class were.

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork So you think they just doctored that to fool you? Why is it so hard to believe that EP was recorded in April 1978? DOA played SF in the summer in '78 and Chicago and NYC in '79. Are you saying a band doesn't exist until YOU have heard of them? Or until they first come to LA? Wow.

  • i just can't undertsand what the fuck hes talking about lol

  • @scoskitz imo vicious circle, tsol, fear, middle class, china white, the skrewz, Slashers, the hated, The Klan, the Detours, Adolescents, D.I., The vandals, the crowd, Simpletones, the outsiders, rino 39, eddie and the subtitles, etc. were a thousand times better than doa. No offense. I remember a show with the Duplicators, Detours, Middle Class, LA Shakers, The Controllers

at Larchmont Hall, July 1978 that was pretty fng amazing. But doa i don't remember at all until much later.

  • @scoskitz So while bands like X, The Germs, The Weirdos and The Bags flourished in Los Angeles, a hardcore form of "punk rock" manifested itself in the endless suburbs that stretched southward and into OC and beyond. Along with the Middle Class, Orange County initially sprouted groups like The Crowd, Eddie & the Subtitles, The Detours, Snickers, The Klan, hated, skrews, etc. From Long Beach, Vicious Circle and TSOL whose shows were magnets for mayhem

  • @scoskitz While the MIDDLE CLASS played in june 78 at the Masque, though they were playing all around L.A in 77. They were DEFINITELY the fastest band anywhere at the time. As for Black Flag, their 1st official LA club type gig(Jan 79 Moose Lodge Hall), playing what would be considered hardcore as well, but of course it was around a little bit prior with the other bands.

  • @scoskitz from what i remember, the middle class Formed in late 76 and began preforming in 77. They were the first hardcore punk band ever. Along with Pekinska Patka from Ex Yu 1978. Early Black Flag were too slow for Hardcore. Black Flag were punk rock when they started but the middle was hardcore from the beggining. I should add that the Dickies might possibly be tied with the Middle Class as the 1st hardcore band ever. the dickies played the Masque club in sept 77 or so.

  • @scoskitz not seeing anything on wikipedia about doa having a record out in 77. it mentions them being the skulls before. as theuwf stated, that was originally an l.a. band, not candian. so doa just keeps ripping off l.a. as usual.

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork ...because DOA didn't form until March '78. As for his previous band the Skulls 'stealing' their name from the LA band, I'm sure it was just coincidence.

  • @scoskitz from everything ive seen from doa they were doing sex pistols type punk rock in their early period and then later changed with their 81 hardcore record. but fuckin A, the middle class, dickies, rino39, black flag, outsiders, the crowd and others were cranking out faster shit well before doa. good for joey for trying to claim the name hardcore but that name was being used a lot by the hollywood punks who hated those types of people in orange county(the people that originally brought it

  • @scoskitz sorry but doa weren't even a band until late 79. when did they tour in l.a.? 80? 81? By 80 the 2nd wave of the hardcore scene was starting in l.a.

i'd love to see your 78 recorded evidence from doa. Can you post that please with the date on the vinyl record, thanks.

Early Tsol and vicious circle were already playing in o.c. back then and briefly in l.a.

doa stole what l.a. bands(the middle class etc) were doing but could never do it as early or as fast, at that time.

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork go to Discogs.com, look up DOA and check out their first EP, 'Disco Sucks'. If you look on the back cover, it says 1978 right on it.

  • @TheUWF that's true and I forgot about the l.a. band called the skulls who were making music in 77 and playing by at least 78- club masque, etc.

  • Anyone who was involved with the scene in Los Angeles knows that Keith Morris had a slight crack problem after he moved back to hollywood and grew out his hair.

His new band blows ass btw.

  • @TheUWF - Off! "blows ass"??? Well OK then...

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork That is correct. Also a future doa member ripped off the name "The Skulls" from a Los Angeles band with the same name that was playing earlier, then that guy joey changed their name to Doa in 1980 and put out a record. It's interesting because Tsol predates them, as Tsol had a demo ep out in 79, then released with better sound in very early 1980. Tsol were also playing in from 78 with Jack Grisham but they switched singers as mentioned + Jack formed V.C. with Todd from Tsol.

  • @TheUWF - there are several things wrong with your comments, but that's OK, it was a long time ago. The Canadian Skulls had not heard of the LA band with the same name in 1977. Few people outside of LA would've heard about the LA Skulls back then--and vice versa. DOA formed in early 1978 and put out their "Disco Sucks" EP the same year. TSOL doesn't pre-date them, but later DOA would tour down to LA of course and become friends with TSOL and play shows together.

  • Keith has clearly lost his mind, I always felt doa was just another band trying to rip off the original l.a. scene. there's a reason they were the opening band and not the headlining band in this story. hahaha

the middle class fucking housed them all anyway.

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork - DOA were/are from Vancouver, BC, Canada, and therefore were never trying to "rip off" the LA scene, unless you mean touring down there and playing shows...? Being the out-of-town band, they of course were not usually headliners, just like when Black Flag would come to Vancouver at first, they were not headliners. Local bands usually headlined in those days before the bands had LPs out and became more well-known draws.

  • @scoskitz The TSOL guys didn't come later, they came before doa. They were playing in socal well before doa. From briefly in 78, then they stopped and Jack started to play with Vicious Circle who were becoming known for all of the chaos and violence in socal. Then Tsol reformed with a different singer, Then jack and the boys reformed, kicked out the temporary singer that tsol had and the rest is history.

  • I wonder which Epitaph band he's talking about... any ideas?

  • that's a shame that keith has become such a crackhead hippie these days.

everyone knows that TSOL fucking owned L.A. literally and figuratively back then.

  • @TheNewMusicNetwork - Keith is non crackhead LOL. And as for TSOL, they came later than the period Keith is talking about.

  • Fuck you!!!

  • Wow what a life, broke, hungry, and tired from decades of unappriciated work!!!

  • mr morris needs to learn how to take better care of himself. keith, you should eat a healthier drink and diet. i think your internal organs are weak, it shows in your complexion and sporadic eye/hand movements. you should probably take up an exercise like tai chi ( tai-ji-quan) yeah, its "punk", anti-establishment too, so dont worry. increase your energy, find your center, feel like a demi-god, etc.

  • @marathonTmatt oh stfu you want to blow him too? as well as offer nutritional advice?

  • Yus!

  • bad religion awesome but epitaph freakin sucks now,,,Bring me the horizon?come on..epitaph let me down

  • @raulbello and ALL and the descendents are awesome

  • Keith Morris the typical liberal hypocrite.

Telling the kid what to think, and who to listen to......how very Nazi of you .

  • @Joel2Dope how very troll of you :P

  • @Joel2Dope I think the point he was trying to get across to the kid was to appreciate the great bands from the past. That without those bands there wouldn't be the type of music that this kid was listening too. I think he's just mad that this kid narrowing his idea of the greatest band to some epitaph band and not exploring the endless boundaries of great and genius music that is out there. I am pretty sure there was no political influence in his frustration toward the kid.

  • Respond to this video...

  • why is he talkin bad about epitaph there are great bands on it like ALL/Desendents pennywise and keith said in one of his interviews that OFF! wanted to be on epitaph so shut up keith

  • He's got the coolest voice

  • Whoah! Keith talking shit on Epitaph! He DOES know that Greg is in Bad Religion, who's signed to Epitaph, right? I fuckin love ya, Keith, even though wacked out of your mind!

  • @skapunkteddybear Even more hilarious that the Circle Jerks released some shit on Epitaph XD. (& also the Cramps, Descendents etc...)

  • Bottom line...Keith Morris LOVES and LIVES music. God bless him.

  • Yep -- Keith has a good point. DOA and Bad Brains were fucking amazing live. Sorry, kids, but nothing on Epitaph or any of the mall-punk shit out there now compares.

Keith is an awesome guy, but he hasn't aged well.

  • Keith STILL rocks,i saw him sing for Black Flag, circle jerks, and he STILL wont shut up......and thats a GOOD thing

  • Now this man is a prime example of perma-drunk

  • settle down morris you crackhead

  • @megadethjason fuck off cunt. You went on another Morris video to troll like a piece of shit.

  • @megadethjason if youre doing music this long and you aint excited youre dead. go shoot yourself

  • @megadethjason Crackhead? What you mean?

  • @megadethjason It's the meth .......

  • i'd love to hear Keith talk about Bad Brains.

  • @DoctorRobertBobby I could listen to ANYONE who appreciates Bad Brains talk about them lol

  • @skapunkteddybear :) you and me both.
