I came across this song by Ofra Haza , and my 2 months old son is used to sleep on this song, he is addicted to this song , and I am happy that i saw another great voice singing this same song , thanks for uploading.
I have loved Esther and her voice since the early 70s when they had their own show on English t.v. Being of Eastern Med. origin myself, I really admire singers who can throw their voices every which way. Beautiful voice, haunting song.
but Ofra had a voice which is 1/100,000,000. in addition, she had that heavenly voice only at youth .when she got older her voice changed. it stayed marvelous but not as it was when she was younger.
A great and wonderful Ivrit/Hebrew/Israeli song and melody! It's to fall in love with ...
I know both versions, Ofra Haza's and Esther Ofarim's; I know both singers very well (acustically ;:-).
Though that's no competition here, I put all the both to my Favorites & Play list ...
I slightly prefer Esther Ofarim's version; but I can't really say why. I own, up from a longplay record, a clean and fine longer version which I want to upload here for you soon.
I love Ofra Haza but I would say that Esther's version is better. Maybe it's just because it's the original, but here we have a mature singer and Ofra was very young at the time she performed this song.
There are different versions. In some, a single verse matches, in some only a line. I already went through all those i found, and assembled what seems to be closest to the Hebrew words, but i'm not certain it's correct.
@CrawlingMeower I refer to a comment you made 2 years ago about Glykeria singing your favourite version of Secharchoret. I have been searching for this on You Tube but no luck yet. Please advise where you heard it. Many thanks.
@MEDSEC20 I got it from eMule. Enter גליקריה שחרחורת and, sooner or later, you'll find it, though the download may take a long time due to the scarcity of sources.
@CrawlingMeower Morena me llaman, blanca yo naci', morena me llaman, blanca yo naci'. de pasear ganado mi color perdi'. But the melody is nothing like this version.
What suprises me most about Ofra, is that she was all about 18-19 yrs old when she sang the song of Sh'Charchorat, actually even b4 she had any rec. produced, whereas Esther..
I am looking for another version of this song. the singer was galit giat, and she sing it in LADINO, in tzika hadar tv program named: lo nafsik lashir.
יפייפיה וזמרת כמלאכית, כל כך גאה לדעת שהיא משלנו.

I love both versions of this song just as much as I love both Ofra and Esther. They touch my sephardic soul.

Touch any Jewish soul, sefaradi, Ashkenazi or whatever. It is the Jewish soul that vibrates with excitement and joy.

Make that any human soul. Ofra and Esther are simply beyond amazing

Esther Ofarim- Hamalka! The Queen of Israeli Music of all times!
Nobody had such a voice, full of depths and like a singing-bird-both!
Where are you, Esther?
We miss you so much here in Israel...

@MEDSEC20 just copy and paste the words גליקריה שחרחורת into eMule's search line. That should work.
