Aikido is a development by Usheba who was a student of Takeda, Aikijujutsu. The confusion is that Hapkido and Aikido at one time used the same Chinese calligraphy. Most Koreans believe that Hapkido is derived from Yong Sul Choi who was an alleged student of Takeda or a family servant. Hapkido was further refined by Ji Han Jae. Hapkido and Aikido are not the same martial arts.
Hapkido is NOT Korean Aikido. Aikido was NOT adopted from the Koreans. Aikido was adopted from many other martial arts such as jujutsu and, as I believe, "perfected". You cannot say that Hapkido is Korean Aikido just because they have similar names...
