First time I have watched a full Buddy Hall match. Very impressive. IMHO, he looked the better player overall, and Earl had some luck. However, Earl played that final critical rack perfectly.
Watch 6:34 to 7:26 - this is why I sometimes think, shot clocks are silly. While this would have been the only extension Earl would have needed to take in the hill game, I don't quite see who's to judge the difficulty of the shot per se. As one can see by the rhythm and velocity with which Earl ends up shooting it ever so cleanly down the rail, it apparently passes the middle pocket knuckles. But it IS a difficult situation and big shot, worth making doubly sure, IMHO.
Having said, What one would hear in league play is this: "What has the guy been looking at for so long, then ends up doing the obvious thing anyhow?" Of course he does. That doesn't mean he's stalling. He's just paying attention to what deserves to be taken seriously. Anyone with true love and knowledge of the game can tell. Well done!
Epic match. Thanks for uploading the vid. Hall, Strickland, and Reyes are the best three 9 ball players ever IMHO, and you've got two of 'em playing to a hill-hill game. Wow!
2 Legends. IMO, Earl jumps balls with a regular cue better than anyone. I know Earl exhibits some mental issues but whenever I've talked to him at tournaments, he's been a perfect gentleman...and his 9-ball game is not to be believed.
