  • ÄLSKA GNAGET, MEN HATA GÖTEBORG. ÄNGLAR KLUBBAS NER PÅ GATOR OCH TORG!

  • your majorettes look vey good in the front . i like the tradional high steppin style that they have with the majorettes boots and tassles . good look , keep up the good work

  • im a freshmann majorette for the LHS grenadier band and today, june 7, was my first band practice. ya its hard asss work (:

  • i love our school band it rocks

  • As a British bloke, does anyone know why they dress like Guards Regiments? What is the connection?

They look and sound fastastic though!

  • Mr. Sherry the former band director of Libert High School Band decided to change the theme of the band because I believe he respected them and thought it would be a new theme for a high school to have. Ever Since LHS represented the Coldstream Guards and have done preformances with them

  • @rootsie92 Apparently the Coldstream Guards go out there regularly and run training sessions and master classes. I understand a retired Coldstreamer got involved some years ago to set the ball rolling.

  • I go to Liberty they always perform god save the queen last at football games it the closer

  • I go there too and it's not God Save the Queen it's Rule Britannia.

We did play America the Beautiful in our field show this year which is the same melody as God Save the Queen. It was not the last song though.

  • heyy my highschool! haha :D im a freshamn this year and i play the clarinet and im really proud to be part of an awesome band like this(:

  • I am really impressed with this band. I can tell, simply watching this video, that the musicians and other participants have a lot of pride in what they do. The drill is well executed and the turnout seems of a high standard. These are both qualities that are valued by the Coldstream Guards. Even more, however, is the quality of the musicianship and the admirable restraint in performance. This demonstrates a very respectful attitude, which I greatly appreciate.

  • Are you kidding? They can't even be compared with the Band of the Coldstream Guards, or any other of the British Guards bands.

They're rather much more like the Canadian Ceremonial Guard. Which, like the LHSGB, is also comprised of students and part-timers.

  • Yess there not nearly as good as coldstream...but for a high school band you have to admit they are really good

  • I don't think it's fair to try and compare a highschool band with a Grade A, full-time, professional military band like the Coldstreamers. However, these kids have definitely got something.

  • made this k-kid jealous.

  • @CJErdo lol (=

  • only a small band then

  • haha I was color guard co captain 2002-2003

  • I want a bearskin. :(

  • funny how there is nice weather one day, then cloudy and cold the next

  • sweet golden valley is going to the rose parade too, in fact were leaving tomorrow

  • this band is great, makes em seem like there from ENGLAND OR SCOTLAND! NOT TO MENTION thery are playing BETHEL PARK, PA in high school football this year in hersey pennsylvania, you guys rock!!! kick bethels ass!!! canes

  • For melonhead82, idk the answers to ur ?'s but we do go to England about every 4- 8 years. It depends.

  • not anymore

  • The Golden Valley H.S Cardinal Regime from Merced Ca. is looking forward to participating with the Liberty H.S. Grenadier Marching Band in the 120th Tournament of Roses Parade. See you Janurary 1st, 2009!

  • Does this band get visited by officers of Her Majesrsty and do you have the rank insignias of the british army?

  • we have met a few people from the coldstream guards. And the rank insignias are authentic.

  • So you do use british ranks then.

  • Love your band but I graduated from Northampton so GO KONKRETE KIDS

  • Im a little sad to see that the head majorette is not in all white

  • they are in all white this year

  • liberty doesnt have silks

  • liberty doesnt have silks

  • wow, never knew liberty had silks. Our band is awesome! I wanna join, but I'm in orchestra so I don't wanna learn another insturment. Yeah class of 2012!!

  • what? liberty never had silks

  • Liberty High School Band is great. I love the bagpipes. I'm from the Class of 2005. Does anyone know where to find a video of Arts Jam where all the bands perfomed together?

  • Thanks guys! I really needed that info!

  • HI everyone i'm glad some one posted this video im from the class of 06

  • yay i'm in the LHS band bustin out with the sax!! Representin' B-town PA class of 2010!!!!

  • So nice to see this video on YouTube! I am a former "bando" with the LHS Grenadiers (class of "85 -clarinet)and this is bringing back fond memories. The very first invite for the band to travel to England and play with the real Coldstream Guards was extended after guests from England viewed our class' spring band concert. Thanks Adidas5136 for posting this video!

  • Real GREAT performance! Absolutly fantastic! What is the called they play in the first minute? I know the song, but I don't know the name...

  • Think the frst ones Scotland the Brave, in the first few seconds followed by Rule Britannia then for the last 20 odd seconds its the standard of Saint George.

  • i'm living in england now, graduated LHS 2003. glad this video is posted to show off to all my mates! they didn't believe me when i bragged about how great my high school band was, now . . . proof.

  • This is really cool, our band actually does some similar stuff. We too have bagpipes, and we played this same song in our field show a couple years ago. I think it's awesome that you guys have joined ranks with the coldstream gaurds. We actually just came back from England and Scotland, where we went inside the barracks and watched the band. They did a performance for us, and later on we sat down and played with them for about an hour or so. It was awesome. But anyway, you guys are great :)

  • thank you very much for your kind comment, it is awesome that you got to play with the Coldstream Guards, I had the honor to do so in concert with them during my senior year of high school as a bagpiper in 2000 in England, it was an amazing experience, one that will never be forgotten, thanks again!

  • Well, slightly bizarre choice someone made all those years ago; US High school band based on British military band! But it does look impressive.

  • that one person who comment march of the mortamen in foothill...you guys are really big, look like us but your guys guard and drum major. haha, you guys look amazing.

    C:

  • As you know, no pipers in the grenadier or coldstream guards. Music is easy, dressing is everything. Well done.

  • Well done Liberty High School. As an old English military musician of some 18 years, you bring a tear to me eye. First rate, wish I could march with you, and there's not many I would say that to.

  • wow that was intresting, coming from the UK I did not think it would be allowed to pattern a uniform from the British Army. As like the guards regiments are your bearskins real bear skin.??? Anyhow good work and good luck. cheers.

  • Actually, the band has close ties with The Regimental Band of her Majesty's Coldstream Guards, and the band has been granted permission to wear an exact replica of their uniform. As for the bearskins, about 20% of the band wear real bearskins, they are retired bearskins from the Coldstream Guards. Every now and then the band gets ahold of 15 - 20 more, so maybe one day the entire band will wear authentic bearskins.

  • @grae707

Yeah our bearskins are the real thing.

  • what do u play

  • i mean "does anyone" not "can someone"

  • I do

  • I play sousaphone

  • can someone here play in the LIberty band and if so what?

  • i can't wait till band!!!

  • im in marching band at my highschool and i was wondering if this was ur highshools uniforms cus if so thats awesome cus i love the british and i wish my highshcool uniforms were like urs

  • Yes, the uniforms worn in this video are the uniform for the Liberty High School Grenadier Band, they are patterned after The Regimental Band of Her Majesty's Coldstream Guards in London, England.

  • One of the baritones is out of step.

  • really, i don't see it?

  • third from the left

  • next year we are going to THE ROSE BOWL!!!! GO LIBERTY!!!!

  • thanks i can't wait to be in the band next year!

  • same here

  • your going to the rose bowl?

  • WOW hats off to them, they look sharp.

  • now I know where that school spends it's budget LOL

  • Oh any time, I'm just amazed that you have such a hudge amount of people and you guy are all perfect, like i wish our corps can be like that.. Its insane.. I'm amazed just by youre drill let alone you're music!! <3 Omg, i Wish the people i play with, could play like thatt..

  • how do you guys do it, Our band is like 3 by like 10 and and can't even stay in a line, My god you guys are great to watch!

  • Thanks for the nice comment! The band puts a huge emphasis on parade marching practice and drill. It takes many hours of practice and marching drills during summer band and throughout the school year. Thanks again

  • Yea helps abit, but funnily enough theres quite a rivalry between the grenadiers and coldstreamers, grenadiers are the '1st of foot guards', and the coldstreamers are the '2nd'. But to make themselves feel better they came up with the motto 'second to none' completely aimed at the grenadiers.

The grenadiers are certainly the most war hardened of the two, and the best known.

  • This is pretty weird to me, my dad was a grenadier guard, not in the band, in the 2nd battalion as an Recce soldier, when he first joined he spent time with the 1st doing cerimonial like this.

Its nice but why do they dress up like that? In England its for cerimonial and heritage reasons hundreds of years old, and to honour the victories of the past, which is why they have them written on the colour paraded during the trooping of the colour.

Do the guards have a relation to this school?

  • well, that gets a little confusing, the band was named the Liberty High School Grenadier Band over 20 years ago, since then we have formed a relationship with The Regimental Band of Her Majesty's Coldstream Guards, in fact we have had numerous joint concerts with the Coldstream Guards in England and this year part of the and opened for the Coldstream Guards North American Tour kickoff in Bethlehem, PA... I hope this helps with your questions, we absolutely respect the uniforms and traditions...

  • wow, this is pretty amazing. my sister goes to school in Bethlehem (Lehigh College, I'm not sure if you've heard of it) and she likes it there. Good job, band!

  • I was in this band from 91-95. We were good then, but band today is better. From the uniforms to the tight, sharp, crisp sound.. LHSGB is STILL the BEST!! Keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing them in the Roses Parade next year.

  • ever since persa left we werent that good and we gotta beat becha in 08

    ALL THE WAY LIBERTY

  • we lost to becha with persa, too, he wasn't the only good player

  • Not bad. Need to work on marching and deportment. Hire an ex military Drum Major to help out.

  • im in the band.....if we suck so bad then y did they invite us to the rosebowl parade for next year......i play the bagpipes

  • Thanks for the reply to the nasty comment, I have removed it... I was a bagpiper in the band and graduated in 2000...

  • I was a member of the band from 1971 to 1974. To this day we alumni members still have a special place in our hearts for the band. As much now as it was back then, it's something special.

  • I absolutely agree, I am an alumni with the Class of 2000, I was a bagpiper and I absolutely have a special place in my heart for this band... it has that kind of effect on everyone.

  • Wow... huge marching band. Ous only has like 40

  • hehe, i thought our band was small. i think, last count, we had 90. that includes color guard, pit, honor guard, and majorettes.

  • our biggest section is the drum line lol

  • i think that's with most bands, i think we have 5 snares, 2 quads, 2 cymbals, and 5 bases.

  • thats awesome my brother is in the band and im coming up next year, cant wait!

  • Amazing. It's great to know that outstanding parade bands exist outside of California. I hope you all consider making a trip out to California someday to participate in the Arcadia Band Review, the premier parade band competition in all of Southern California.

  • were going to be in the tournament of roses parade in Pasadina CA next year.

  • hey anthony its devaughn what up? to answer "theshizzlyfizzles"'s question yes the fanfares this year are myself anythong tyler and colin. im a freshman fanfare this year and frankly we kick ass! screw the finfares!

  • I'm in trumpet section. go finfares. were better than Colin and his fanfares.

  • alright tyler. buy your skating vids are sick

  • o thats wut i thought but i wasn't sure. Mr. George told me u were playin in the brass quartet for christmas. so am I. and i think john labiak and tyler are too.

  • yeah

  • o cool wuts up. its sid. i saw u guys at the Freedom game yesterday. wut r those other horns right next to the fanfares? they look like the fanfares only bigger.

  • trombone fanfares

  • OMG!!! I love being in the LHSGB!!!!!! Next year we're going to the Rose Bowl to be in the Rose Parade!! HELL YEAH!!!! We ROCK!!!!

  • carlogesualdo25 who are you. anthony, devon??? arent the 4 fanfares anthony devon tyler and a don't remember the last one

  • anthony

  • I'm a Freshman at Liberty and a fanfare trumpet. I love it and we revived the jazz band from the 80's!!!

  • I was the drum major of Bishop McDevitt HS Band from 1967 to 1970. We were a kilted unit. I recall seeing the Liberty Band in a competition in the late 60's and thinking how spectacular they were. It is refreshing to see the tradition continue without the gimmicks of many of the "bands" today. Keep up the good work. My feather bonnet is off to you.

  • go hurricanes! liberty was awsome wish i still in school lol

  • adidas5136, how do u even post vids like that? like do u record it with a videocamera? could u put up the fieldshows? if u have them, i love this band!

  • this praticular video is courtesy of a news station which recorded the band during a parade... I got permission to post on youtube... I do have a digital camera which has video recording capabilities, so I will try to record the field show at one of their upcoming games... the band truly is amazing, I am proud to have been a part of it and an actively involved alumnus.

  • u bet they're amazing, I could listen to then 4-ever, i go to all home games, and watch anytime on t.v, but rcn duznt show halftime shows :( so i haven't seen their show this year

  • go canes

  • FYI for all the Brits out there that may feel offended by a yankee band dressing like your military and playing empire songs, did you know that we are the ONLY high school band in America to have played in full concert with the Coldstream guards? The directors of music and the band of the coldstream guard do cooperate with us in terms of Uniforms, aquiring certain items and drill. We in fact are playing with the coldstream this january at stabler arena in Bethlehem as art of the america tour.

  • ah..the high school i would have went to had i not moved :(. it was my late grandmothers dream to see me play the bagpipes in that band.

  • im in the band now and i wish i went to an NFL game with the band, u were one lucky duck lol, although i did go to Hawaii

  • The band was better in the 1960s and 1970s. We cab thank Ron Sherry for the British marching band theme. I was a proud member of our 20+ Sousaphone section in the 1971-1974 era. We used to have much more lower brass. In my three years with the band I went to 6 NFL games, the Miss America Pageant Parade, The Indianapolis 500 Festival, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, etc. It was a great experience!

  • Hey! I was there too. The Macy's parade was truly a unique experience. Still catch myself whistling Col Bogey now and then.

The only disappointment was not seeing the 500 because of the rain. Played the clarinet and switched to the alto sax.

  • Why has an American got a British Empire song...and a school playing it...

    ah well, good video.

  • It is not that we are just playing British Empire songs, it is about bringing some of their culture here and straying away from your "normal" high school band. It is all about tradition that started many years ago for the band, a tradition of excellence.

  • Yeah its understandable. Hundreds of thousands of Americans flood over to Britain to see our culture and history and sites and stuff. And love our traditional Emperial war music. And Royal culture (since we are basicly the only European country which hasnt killed their royal family)

  • Sorry about that, im UKUFVideos and i just logged onto my other account to check something, but yeah.

  • We're from Holtville, CA (Imperial Valley)..

  • We are from bethlehem,Pa and we are like the best in the country. 4sho!

  • Liberty definitely does have the best band in the country, we have the many national championship trophies to show it, I was just trying to find out where that other persons band was from, where their band is the best "in the state"

  • huge band...our band is small...but we're the best in the state!

  • Where is your band located? I like to become familiar with other high school and college bands, Thanks for the comment

  • Liberty unfortunnetly lost to Upper St.Clair, great team! To bad for Liberty.

  • Yes, Liberty did lose in the state championship again, but that team was just unbeatable... of course we had the better band though! 2nd place for the team in the entire state of PA in AAAA is still GREAT! GO CANES!

  • Pretty big band. Nice job.

  • Liberty won! they also beat Pennsburry in a 4 overtime win!! Hershey here we come!!

  • i love hearing them play! i could listen to them all day long! Liberty -v.s- Frankford tomorow GO LIBERTY!!

  • everyday londen changing of guard

  • I hope the band cant go to Hawaii. I guess I'm just jealous.

  • I'm in that video. trumpet. row 7 file 2.

  • Awesome, I must say that the trumpet section really kicks (you know what) this year, I have been to a lot of the games and the trumpet section really blasts the sound outward. I graduated from Liberty in 2000 and played the bagpipes in the band. Good Luck in Hawaii in just 2 short weeks!

  • i'm glad to see that they are still BIG and STORNG!!! i'm glad that the parents and community still care about the music programs in there schools...but, the sousaphone sections is smaller....when i was there, we had over 20...we where the biggest in the country!!! tried to be bigger than TEXAS A&M..WE WHERE!!.also, the member of the pipes drumline where in KILTS!! not happy with the OLD STREAM GUARD look for them!!! i would love to get a sweatshirt from LHSGB!!

  • 1976...i was marching in the rain...but, it was a blast....GO LHSGB!!!

  • I am glad that a Grenadier alumni found this video, that is exactly my intention, as I get more video's, I will post them, as everyone loves to see the band in action!

  • Was this band in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade?

  • The Liberty High School Grenadier Band was in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade many years ago, but not recently.

  • Yes! They got to go in 1986, I think? My bro was in the band (trumpet) and got to be on TV! It's a really hard parade to get into, if I remember correctly - long process/paperwork.

  • wow...they are really good!! i heard about them!
