Desmond wrote and first performed this song in 1970, Jimmy cliff later shortened it for the soundtrack to the harder they come which is an awesome movie if you've never seen it.. Cliffs version is more popular cause it's slightly more uptempo and he's more remembered even though Dekker was one of the founders of the massive English reggae/ska movements..
