@TheWolvesCurse To be honest, it doesn't surprise me at all :) Having spent 20 years of my life working with music and listening to anything from the 800s to now, I've developed a love for widely different genres. Pieces ranging from renaissance music to black metal. Music is about about the intent to create and communicate from the artist and how well that's done, not the genre. Learning the codes to understand it is the listeners job and extremely rewarding if you put in the effort :)

Well, IMO Immortal is all about tone. The riffs are played to fit the atmosphere and tone. With the wrong tone etc., then the song just gets forgotten. That's how a lot of black metal and doom metal is; all tone and atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, Immortal has awesome riffs, but they are all there at that pace to make you put on your grim-face.

I've heard Kashmir a million times and play Tyrants and SOND daily but I never put the two together, but I hear the connection now.
