locking came first. then poping. poping went in different directions thats why you have boogaloo, tutting, animatronics, animation, stuff like that. Then they figured you can dance on your hands to funk music. thats when bboying came. Then Hiphop music exploded and people started dancing to that instead of just funk. hiphop dancing incorporates all those different funk styles.

when the dance was supposedly created by Boogaloo Sam was called popping. Popping isnt part of Hip-Hop it was part of the Funk Movement back in the 70's. Locking came before popping. Breaking came from the otherside of the country and they all clashed together to create this phenomenal movement that has gone underground.

I hate when people say poplocking or poppinglock or pop locking....If you are a Tutter, Locker, Popper, Waver, Ticker, Strober, Animator, if you do Robotics, anything that falls under this dance genre you are or they are "A Funk Styles Dancer!"

There is a whole history of popping history that predates the boogaloos...sugapop is not and should not be considered a Popping historian, my friend...he was still @ home when the lockers were on soul train.He came along much later in the dance scene...poplocking is a justifiable term

the word "poplock" doesn't exist, but many people think so. There is Locking and there is Popping. Locking & Popping are 2 DIFFERENT styles. You can't do both at the same time.
