@frisianmouve I am from hong kong and our city gave up using that few decades ago and buy water elsewhere as relevant costs and health problem caused by the tech barrier of desalination plant existed. It ain't mean that water from those plants is completely fine, old people would still encounter kidney problem drinking it. Thermal method and reverse osmosis (though not cheap) doesn't guarantee 100% quality as natural fresh water counterparts.
I highly doubt that people will charge us for breathing air and that water supplies have drasticly been reduced. Remember more than 70 % of earth is water and scientist have already found a way to filter salt water to fresh water. So if they were to charge us for breathing then they better put the money into good use for thess filteration factories and not for pathetic fake lungs. . .

Life is too adaptable to be ended by us, because every problem we could possibly cause is solvable. If we launched every nuke at once, there'd be a few surviving radiation-proof survivors, or life forms in deep water. We could poison our air, but some life doesn't need air.

When water evaporates (say, from the oceans), the salt does not go with it. The clean water, in the form of clouds, COMES TO THE LANDS, and then it falls. HOly fuck.
