  • @Alsetinc it beads up and runs off the ball use to do it all the time.

  • What is a good recommended ball cleaner to use?

  • will be some problems if i use car wax to clean a bowbling ball?

  • @Pacoelo Yes, there will be problems. You need to use cleaner that is designed for bowling balls to clean the coverstock as they are formulated to draw the oil and dirt from the pores. These pores are what make the bowling ball hook. Car wax will clog these pores and cause you to lose reaction.

  • they say not to use other methods becuase in the long run it eats away at the compound inside the the ball (i forget the name) its clear and looks like oil when its not inside the outer core... the compound is used to help the ball hook, and when that wears away from heat, so does the reaction in your ball

  • sorry not gonna take advice from someone who can not even spell HOLES right

  • Soaking the ball will not crack the ball. By soaking the ball in warm water, you bleed out the oil that was deeply seeded in the coverstock. DO NOT use very hot water becuse this CAN lead to seperation of the coverstock from the core, if the temp is alright for your hand, it's alright for the ball. Fill the wholes with putty and tape over the wholes with electrical tape, this will prevent any water from seeping into the inner walls of the core. THE MOST EFFECTIVE AND SAFE WAY TO REMOVE OIL.

  • I just had a Storm tech center rep suggest using the warm water method.

And as you said on a previous episode, they do a lot of testing and research...

I did it with my prodigy, along with a hook again treatment and a resurface and the ball is like new after absorbing 100+ games worth of oil.

The key is to stay within 110-120...so as not to extract plastisizers with the oil.

I'm probably covering a couple boards less than when I got it....but it's still far better than before I treated it.

  • Concerning the oven. Think about it, you heat the ball, the ball is not moving. All of the pores in the ball open up. The pores on the bottom allow the oil to flow out, the ones on the top allow the oil to go deeper. It is important that the ball is in constant motion and an oven does not do that, so, to be kind, Mrevo599, it appears the shoe is on the other foot. Before you call someone out, check your facts. It helps one from looking uneducated, or obamish.

  • @AlsetInc the oil will evaporate out...

  • Bowling was banned in England because the men were drinking and gambling on the sport. At that time it was mandatory for all males to spend at least 3 hours a day practicing archer. Why? Because England changed the face of war with the longbow men and it took A LOT of strength to fire that weapon. It is what changed history and turned the French into, well the French.

  • to answer the question, the only reason I found why king henry banned bowling is because so many working men and women neglecting their trades. so bowling was only for the upper class after he banned it.

  • you obviously dont know alot guys. Putting it in the oven which i do is a lot like the reviver. you put it on warm which brings it to about 150 degrees Fahrenheit an from experience, you leave it in for 20 minutes and take it out and rub it with rubbing alcohol which dries out the cover stock do this like 3 times and the core will still be cool. if you stick your finger down into the thumb hole you will feel it is still cool and not heating up. people are stupid crank the heat high keep it low.

  • @Mrevo599 Its not recommended cause you can overheat the ball but if it works then you then good job i guess, theres much more easier ways and safer :)

  • @extraacount123 oh i am very aware but in a controlled environment with the right precautions and right temp. settings you should succesful

  • ive put my balls in a bathtub with hot water and dish soap and it worked perfectly. i did it with my 6 year old tropical storm and my nvd. They were like new. the guy in my pro shop actually recommended it! but ill never do it again cuz i dont want my balls to crack. =[

  • I have a storm Reign....everywhere i bowl i always get a gray rubbery film on the ball almost like oil rings but its not on my track. i just have rings going everywhere on my ball. it doesnt wipe off wipe off with a towel. it must get on the ball when its rolling in the pit or when its going through the ball return. it doesnt happen to any of my other bowling balls. i know someone else who has the same thing happen to their reign. What is this? and did you noticed it when you threw the ball?

  • @ScubzMcTalBowling could be dirty ball sweeps at your bowling center, ive had that happen to me a few times but only a curtain bowling centers.

  • @10InThePitBowler

its everywhere i go and only happens to the Reign.

  • @ScubzMcTalBowling is the reign your only pearl ball?

  • @10InThePitBowler

yeah is it because of the coverstock?

  • @ScubzMcTalBowling could be, usually happens to my pearls and polished balls, idont know why though, just have to wipe them down real good after a couple of shots.

  • it doesnt make your ball crack well it hasnt for me

  • cool
