Why can't a developer simply make a petrol or diesel powered car that seats one or two people, weighs less than 500 kg and has an engine which provides enough power and torque to move the car on normal roads? Next time you drive look at how many four seat vehicles on the road have the driver as the only occupant.If engineered correctly such a car could easily get in excess of 100 mpg.

No, natural gas and petroleum are both hydrocarbons, but natural gas is usually methane and petroleum is mostly octane (I think). Natural gas is found sometimes when oil is drilled, but I'm pretty sure it isn't a derivative of petroleum.

The real electric car is still the Tesla Roadster, because it's fast and a complete car as the others are. Even if it costs about 145000$. 25000 up to 40000$ is also a lot for only 100miles per hour and a bad acceleration. But it looks great and seems to be quite useful.

If somebody can offer me a car with the same power (like this one) and it costs about 14000$ I wil buy it..

I like the car, and at least it's a step in the right direction. People are saying it's ugly, but more designs are inevitable.

I find most gas-consuming vehicles to be ugly and bulky (with the exceptions of Ferrari, Lamborghini & Aston Martin) or teeming with mediocrity (mini vans).

Although I'm sure it's only a matter of time before "attractive" or less avant-garde electric cars come around.
