I would be more impressed with Mr. True if he gave credit to Harold "Doc" Edgerton, the MIT professor who pioneered work with strobes in the 40's and 50's. If my memory serves me correctly, Prof Edgerton even appeared with a similar device on the Letterman show in the 80's.
