  • Can´t wait to hear this again...

  • good performance but enough with the cheesy lighting effects

  • Hope I'm proved wrong! Good to see Reni at the press conference and agree that there are few bands that can write songs with the depth

  • I went to this and was one if the most disappointing gigs of my life. Only topped by the Reading appearance the following August. I don't remember his singing being this bad when I saw them 5 years before this though. Shame. Great band shite live. Possibly reforming but do we need them back? The second coming wasn't great. The third.....

  • @littlefickle Valid points but Class A drugs made the 2nd comming the shadow of an album it should have been and I'd imagine they are all a lot more level headed now. Live the were always ropey, Glasgow green also wasn't anything special from where i was standing but they have had the ability to write tunes with a depth like no one else so I'd say give them a chance.

  • how can u waste such a beautiful guitar playing with a voice like that???

  • @the7thsea you clearly don't understand the Stone Roses, get out.

  • @danathor99 yep im just out ur mums house she was a good shag ya fucking knob

  • Christ, he really could not sing, could he? How did they manage to keep him in tune in the studio for the albums? A lot of production clean-up.

  • @angryhandjob Sorry Mr Cowell...

  • @STFCstoneroses Ha, if only I had half as much talent as Ian Brown......

  • Anyone whose seen the Roses live knows Ian Brown's vocals are shocking but there still 1 of the best bands ever.

  • @MrRNM1945 fuck yourself you deadbeat prick

  • Reni would shit on this drums

  • @MrRNM1945 just like you & your fucking "hate" channel you cunt

keep your misery to youself you fucking dickhead.

what the fuck do you do ?

apart from chat bullshit on something you can't do yourself

    you sad bastard.

  • The echoes of the 90's

  • Its just not right wihout Reni.

  • I got Johns pick from this gig..

  • @SuperGrimupnorth i know you did ,

  • bit slow this!

  • JAPANESE ROCK BAND [SAVAN] ANSWER FOR 90'S UK ROCK AND STONE ROSES'S I WANA BE ADORED

    FIND [SAVAN JOURNEY] on YOUTUBE

  • Terrible. The Roses were over the day Reni left.

  • titty fannys

  • john squire is a god

  • no other band creates this vibe

  • classic !

  • I'm a huge Stone Roses fan, my favourite band by far, but this is fucking dreadful. Maddix seems utterly lost, Ian's yelling like a drunk into a bucket, and Squire's probably smacked up on cocaine thinking he's Jimmy Page.

Reni chose the right moment to leave, although he would have been able to bring some class to this.

  • @MrThreshold2009 i love the roses but yr right m8 the sound is SO FUCKIN BAD, SOUNDS LIKE THEY HAVE GAVE UP now spike island is class the gig everybody says they were at !!!!!!

  • @MrThreshold2009 well said

  • You cant get cooler than john squire on the guitar solo, true legend!!

  • The eye sees what it wants to see.

  • A wonderful wonderful group but never at their best vocally when live.

  • ugh...without reni why bother?

  • sometimes IIIIIIIIIIIIII fantasiiiiiiiiize

  • The Roses wilted when Reni left I'm afraid. Love them to bits but that was the end of the legend.

  • @jtrory ... he's hardly prancing around, he hardly moves ... you watching a different clip?

  • Interesting video. Things obviously had changed a lot by this point. I thought Maddix was a horrible replacement. No subtly at all, very heavy handed. But that's what Squire wanted. See him prancing around during his solo? That's not the John Squire of the early Roses. That's the new rock god wannabe John Squire. You can see Ian Brown isn't impressed. Real shame they broke up, but you can kind of see why. They lost direction completely.

  • "Wow" wat a great comeback. John squire, Ian Brown, the Stones Roses inspire my life whenever i listen to their songs for the past 20 yrs. One of the best Indie Manchester Band ever produced and still it will be forever. Forever "Stone Roses"

    from Singapore

  • I hate the live versions of their pre-SC songs in the SC era. John made the guitar too heavy and rock-y then. They sound better on the Gretsch, when the sound is all jangly like it should be.

  • Just a massive shame Reni left. The band would never be the same again.

  • Greatest band to ever come out the Manchester by far lucky enough to see them live at Glasgow Green in 1990 im

  • Good Save the Stones!!

  • Oh Mann! Squire und Reni, was für Talente!!

Da kommen einem fast die Tränen...

  • @calumeh Reni had left by this show. R Maddix was an awesome replacement.

  • squire at 3:05.... wow.

  • @rwprifive he turned into a twat here, B4 he had more misteque he just use2 stand ther in one place cool as fuck here he's poseing like a spoiled brat guitarist!

  • my heroes

  • This is what it sounds like when the egos clash.........Roses for Life.

  • @Portis1Luv Amen. Still have the Spike Island Poster framed on the wall. If you are a fan of this era you must find the documentary "Live Forever". Can't say enough good things about this flick. When Massive Attack, Oasis, Blur, Pulp, and many more were on the scene. A true Rose never dies!!!

  • For anyone complaining about his singing just remember concerts are about BEING THERE, the atmosphere, the anticipation, the crowd, the excitement, the volume...not about chin stroking on YouTube like a bunch of whingers. I'd have given my right arm to see the Roses at their height, although they were past it by '95.

  • His singing is bloody awful.

Sounds like a drunken cat warblin away.

Dont know about earpieces. He is tone deaf if he doesnt know he's permanently out of tune.

  • YOUR BIG FAT LIPS LET GO A SCREAM>>>LOL

  • tosh, that is the whole thing about the roses and ian brown live....shit but good. and you have to be there...god bless mr brown.and all offt he roses, squire, mani, and cressa..

  • I hate to join on the bandwagon regarding Ian Brown's live singing but can anyone point me to JUST ONE example of a concert performance where the singing isn't horribly off key?

I think the records are amazing but I'm not sure what studio trickery has been used. Why he couldn't do it live is anybodys guess. Who knows if Ian had've been able to produce the goods live they might've still been going...

  • 1) Singing live is not the same as singing while sitting down in a studio.

    2) Some singers have trouble hearing their own voice with the music in the background. A lot of singers now wear earpieces to stay in tune.

    3) Ian Brown doesn't give a shit and is a legend.

Will be there Nov 24th 2009!

  • 1) No shit sherlock.

2). True, but there's a difference between a raw live voval and one that so off key it's totally divorced from the melody.

    3) I'm sure Ian Brown doesn't give a shit. Good for him.

    4) I still think The Stone Roses is a great album, but live? Forget about it.

  • google John Leckie

  • Ian Brown is perfect because he is imperfect. If that makes any sense...

  • lol no not really mate but i get what you mean, for me the only good thing about this vid is the solo

  • @Tommy4Liverpool true perfection has to be imperfect ;-)

  • its a bit hit and miss with Roses shows,Ian would either be on form,or be a bit off,i was lucky.i saw em in Leicester on this tour, and he was class,..

  • ian brown's singing has always been very hit and miss live. it was never about singing the notes pitch perfect, it was about the music, the lyrics, the mood! ian brown can sing like he sounds in the studio sometimes live, others, not so..

  • Jesus look at john during the solo

what a led zepped up dickhead

  • Saw them for the one show in NY, I'm a huge roses fan, But they were not the best live act I've seen.

  • Imagine gettin to see The Stone Roses live.. That crowd is so lucky :) ...

  • Chills down spine at 3:57

    :)

  • yeah russ, he is, he's f**king awful live.

  • Comment removed

  • Ian Browns shocking live

  • maybe you shouldnt be calling ANYONE 'faggots'?

  • The Roses were over by this point, Reni's departure in early '95 marking the beginning of the end. Robbie Maddix is the drummer on this clip, and he's crap compared to Reni. Worse was to come when John Squire left the following year.

  • Bugger me, was it really 14 years ago? What a night, what a night.

  • only one john squire

  • that begining guitar is just WOW!!!

  • fuck me i love this band. squire u r a fuckin legend wot a genius on the guitar. the roses r the best band there is and ever will be. FACT

  • just been on the fuckin lyrics .. its TEN twisted grills .. so now everyone knows .. so you can all get fucked

  • its two twisted grills !!!!!!!

  • No it isn't!

    It's "TIN" twisted grills

  • one of my favouritte squire moments

  • what a magnificent song.

  • Brown butchers these songs live...sounde like Homer Simpson lol

  • LMAO Homer Simpson you know.

  • yeh but he wrote them. NO Ian ,No songs. So go back and listen to your coldplay morgage rock faggots.

  • Twat.

  • Actully, "She bangs the drums", "Waterfall" and most of the second album were written by John. So YES their would of been songs. All we ment was that his vocals here are shit. They are, they were, they STILL are, a talented bloke, but don't me a faggot over a rock band you cunt.

  • I actually wrote, "coldplay morgage rock faggots". Do you see a coma after morgage rock!? ...No, well thats because it means Coldplay are faggots, not you. So before posting in the future you should check up firstly on how to read. So dont call me a cunt, you faggotTTTTTTT!

  • you are.

  • Sad twat!

  • yeah, your that too,

  • you should try to get a girlfriend. If you can.

  • I've got your mum.

  • Keep her! Keep your hands off my dad.

  • That's okay, it's only her I want.

  • nothing wrong with being gay, and "faggot" isent really a nice word to call anyone...everyone is different in some way :)

  • i'm gay and so is my wife

  • @Freedom9495 alright gaylord, enough is enough.

  • actually is how it is spelt

  • @Ulmeyda08

Nope, john only wrote the chorus to she bangs the drums, and ian wrote most of waterfall also.

  • Shame he cant sing live!

  • does anybody else notice that brow and squire keep looking at each other throughout that song. especially during the solo, perhaps challenging each other. there was obviously hostility between them and we know it started way before 95.

  • toughbloke it's tin twisted grills

    not ten ,

  • Gan on Squire lad.

  • i cant work out whether he resembles a monkey more now or then.

  • Most of us who think we are seperate from life are made of stone. All we need to do is get connected ,surrender to Now.We will then see we are LIFE!!!!!!

  • 'And for as far as I can see, ten twisted grills grin back at me, bad money dies I love the scene' great, well I love THAT scene.

  • pretty amazed any of the roses could get themselves outta bed let alone onto a stage around 95......still,great band.

  • what sort of dumb statement is that? you are 19 for fucks sake, what the hell do you know anyway?

  • Well i'm a fan so there's half your theory gone mate! ;)

  • ROFL your a fan

  • what year was this

  • 1995

  • the king once more has the crowd in the very palm of his hand ! a musical magician !

  • long live to the stone roses, so many fellings righ now!,what a band

  • this is awful, yet amazin, FUCKING LOVE THIS BAND

  • fav roses song

  • my fav roses track

  • i fell in love with the song when sitting under my boyfriend's bed

i love the tune so much also the lyrics...

  • why would u be sat under a bed

  • hard to explain...i just love the very place...

    well, ignore it~

  • off key!!!!!!!!!! you twat !!! we are mancs everything we do is off key or offside>>thats what makes us what we are,,, better than you

  • Hahaha!! Well said!!

  • This is good, but if it is the first time that you hear this song, i recomend that you stop watching this video right now, lisen to the studio version first, and then comeback and see this... otherwise, its more likely that you end hating a briliant song. But its just and advise...

  • Nice!!!!!!!

  • Umm...Ian... are you with us? Wrong key(s), buddy. Always the downfall of live Stone Roses.

  • goway you robot

  • he is out of tune all the time...

  • hes allowed to be! hes ian brown!

  • Brown has never been able to sing for shit live . Be it with the roses or solo . Dosn't stop the fact that everything they did had a touch of magic and brilliance about it though.

  • sometimes, I ...

    I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • no canta bien, pero es maravilloso lo que logra

  • fuk off!

  • His dancing is good, his singing is... well...

  • Two things I want in Music. The Roses to reunite and MJ to release another album

  • the monkey rules

  • I was at this gig & yes he sounded like he was in a bucket, but at the time I couldn't have cared less. Great night

  • Oh my god Ian what happened to you that night????

  • I wish i could sing like he does.........just kidding!

  • you wish you could write songs like he does though yea?

  • Reni left cos of squire dominating the proceedings for the second album. Also he got fed with tours being cancelled, especially the secret gigs they were supposed to play back in March 1995.

  • this, followed by reading, killed the roses tbh

  • When Squire forced out Reni it was over. Its gotta go down as one biggest cock-ups in rock history. Then he followed it up with that joke band The Seahorses. Then he went even further by releasing 2 horrendous solo cds. No wonder Squire sits in a room on his own painting. Brown has gotta take some blame too. He only came up lyrics for 3 songs for Second Coming (4, Can't See Me Squire wouldn't use) It's mad, after all these I'm still pissed. And seeing The Verve at Glasto now has me fuming!

  • oh man! *drunk post hangs head in shame* lol

f**k off I'm manc! and proud of it ^_^

what I ment was is they should re-unight

but my bro say its a no go - never - ever

  • this is my my fav song //.. but he sounds so stoned on this lol I say they should, they are a wicked band ^_^

  • i like the roses, but this is a bit wank

  • Great performance.

  • why is this song being played so slow. it doesnt do it justice. although one of my favourite bands they weren't great live.

  • Ian let them down, right enough. I think its grand slow, the chorus gains more weight, more momentum. love to have been there, I don't like seein other people playin Squire's guitar parts, doesn't seem authentic, they're just up there bein a guitar hero

  • Check out Just Fuzz too - influenced by these guys - they play Wye Fest, Hereford on 7 June if you can make it - awesome live!

  • i was 16 when this album came out, just leavin school and feel so lucky now to ave been a part of this scene, its never been as good since!

  • Reni's not playing, is he?

  • nah mate he left before the tour- its robbie maddix on drums, squire was really carrying the band by this point, browns voice is poor here but not the worst i have heard him

  • This is played just slightly too slowly, and becomes a bit of a dirge.....sounds like Oasis...which is unfortunate

  • oasis fuckin rock mate... stone roses are soo good too...

  • Yeah I love Oasis but I mean that Oasis do the whole football chant/anthem thing really well, but the Roses had a bit more craft and musical ability to them....well, before this anyway...come on, Reni v Tony McCarrol or Alan White?!! John Squire v N. Gallagher?!!

  • well squire got more talent but noel>squire

    Reni>White, LIAM>Ian,

  • "Got more talent" = you hit the nail on the head mate, spot on. But I still love Oasis, it's just that I can appreciate the Roses (as everyone I know who's heard the two bands does too) are better musically - they influenced Oasis, not the other way round.....

  • concurred.

I prefer oasis overall, but when it comes to musicianship, the roses wipe the floor with them.

    Best two bands ever.

  • great song mr brown

    actually fooooking great

  • the stone roses fueron buenos pero los Inspiral Carpets son muy buenos!!! This is one of the few spectacular songs of the Stone Roses but the Inspiral Carpets are very good!!!

  • the stones rose's fucking super band great lyrics and music to all there songs

  • 89 was a great year all round

The Stone Roses debut album(greatest album ever) and i was born

  • Squier is amazing!

  • ive actually met ian brown in glasgow. better than most stone roses fan ive even bought him a drink

  • thought he was teetotal

  • riveroflife, they're not influenced by the stone roses at all.....

  • no one's fucking interested in your own self promotion

  • I am not promoting myself! Saw them play in London and they are AWESOME!!! Did you see them live? If not then you cant really comment!

  • You guys know what?

    That's it for me.

I just can't stand for Squire to be a such a kick ass talent

Makes me wish for a reunion that'll never happen. I can't take this anymore.

    I just can't.

I'm taking my ball & I'm going home.

    I quit.

  • this is too slow!!! why the heck they played at this tempo?

  • This band was only ever about Reni and John on the talent scale.

Ian was a front with mani the one that would talk to the press.

Ian brown can't sing - so what!

  • F*cking bollocks mate. Brown can't sing (live) granted but his voice and Squire's guitar sound make the whole unique Manchester sound. There will never be a band like this ever. Check out the Clone Roses they're OK
