NASCAR is a spectator sport. That means it is meant to be watched. If you watch rally racing and F1, they just turn right and left in a single file line. Fun if you're driving, I guess. But if you watch NASCAR, 43 cars are constantly within inches of each other on the brink of win or loss. You can hate it, but I love and always will!
I have alot of respect for the cars and drivers in F1. But when you are'nt even allowed to block your opponent, to me that's not racing. If that's the way they want to structure the rules of F1, they might as well let each car onto the track one at a time and see who has ran the fastest lap, like qualifying. Whoever posted the fastest lap gets the award and then call it a day.

Sure NASCAR takes some serious skill when driving at top speed and I wouldn't say no if I had the chance to try it. But all they do is to go left really fast and its not really fun to watch. the drivers are probably having the time of their life but watching 500 laps get boring as hell. Its like sitting next to a child and watching him/her play, Its cute and funny the first minutes but then you just want to go away.

I believe that Nascar circuits use ovals because it allows the spectators to view the race in it's entirety. It also allows the sponsors etc to advertise their products in full view of the entire crowd.

All the cars are identical, it's boring. The manufacturers actually have the balls to call them "ford taurus" or "toyota camry" or whatever, but it's the SAME DAMN CAR. They drive in circles, endlessly. Nothing happens.
Old nascar, like 60's style stuff was good. the cars were ACTUALLY Dodge chargers or Plymouth roadrunners or whatever, not just a different set of fake headlamp stickers on an identical chassis. The racing itself was still dull, but atleast the cars were innovative.

If your confident it's so easy, I'm sure your very high in the leaderboards in online NASCAR games such as iRacing, NASCAR 09, and Forza 3. If not games, maybe you have experience in real life? For all I know, you could be Juan Pablo Montoya, Sam Hornish, or Dario Franchitti since all 3 have had great success in their transition from the ever difficult F1 and IRL to NASCAR.

You know, the more Nascar hate rants I listen to, the more I hear the recurring belief that a right turn in addition to a left somehow makes a race dramatically harder, which in all honesty makes about as little sense as people's hatred for it. I just love listening to some armchair athlete in their infinite knowledge of the sport who's never spent a minute on track talk about how easy it is.
nascarnut18 has no clue regarding motorsports. Obviously he's never driven on a racetrack or even crewed for a team. Oval tracks are banked. Road courses are not. Road course cars need to handle left as well as right turns doubling the difficulty of car setup. They have to brake, downshift and upshift many times per lap. The driver has to learn the idiosicracies of many turns, chicanes and straights. Circle drivers only need to know basically 2 turns and two straights. BFD. NASCAR sucks.
For every skill unique to road racing, there are just as many unique to oval racing. Take Daytona for example. In a single car run, a driver has to drive a 3500 pound car with a very high center of gravity into a very worn 31 degree bank, all at 190mph. While racing, they do this with 43 cars in a tight pack all around them, nearly being sucked around through every corner, due to all the side drafting.
NASCAR is the greatest sport ever! Standing next to the fence watching cars fly by at 180mph is much more impressive than watching a football game, trust me, I've done both.

Sure NASCAR takes some serious skill when driving at top speed and I wouldn't say no if I had the chance to try it. But all they do is to go left really fast and its not really fun to watch. the drivers are probably having the time of their life but watching 500 laps get boring as hell. Its like sitting next to a child and watching him/her play, Its cute and funny the first minutes but then you just want to go away.

Probably the only way that Nascar wouldn't be boring is if they raced in actual race courses like Road America or Laguna Seca more often. I swear, I can't stay up for 1/4 the race before I fall to sleep when they race in ovals.
F1 in the other hand, I'm glued to the screen during the entire thing. Much more exciting.

I believe that Nascar circuits use ovals because it allows the spectators to view the race in it's entirety. It also allows the sponsors etc to advertise their products in full view of the entire crowd.
Sadly, l have to concur with the poster of this video. Nascar is the most boring motor-sport ever devised.

Say what you want but the fact is Nascar is getting worse and worse year after year. The cars are NOT built to race and certainly not built the same. If they were built the same chevrolet wouldn't be so dominant. I have not forgotten Sr's comments after the 2000 Daytona 500: "This is some of the worst racing I've ever seen in my life. Mr France is probably rolling over in his grave right now" or something like that. Nascar will fold if Mr. France doesn't do something soon.

All the cars are identical, it's boring. The manufacturers actually have the balls to call them "ford taurus" or "toyota camry" or whatever, but it's the SAME DAMN CAR. They drive in circles, endlessly. Nothing happens.
Old nascar, like 60's style stuff was good. the cars were ACTUALLY Dodge chargers or Plymouth roadrunners or whatever, not just a different set of fake headlamp stickers on an identical chassis. The racing itself was still dull, but atleast the cars were innovative.

If your confident it's so easy, I'm sure your very high in the leaderboards in online NASCAR games such as iRacing, NASCAR 09, and Forza 3. If not games, maybe you have experience in real life? For all I know, you could be Juan Pablo Montoya, Sam Hornish, or Dario Franchitti since all 3 have had great success in their transition from the ever difficult F1 and IRL to NASCAR.
I know you have some type of experience/success with NASCAR. Please don't tell me I'm wrong.

You know, the more Nascar hate rants I listen to, the more I hear the recurring belief that a right turn in addition to a left somehow makes a race dramatically harder, which in all honesty makes about as little sense as people's hatred for it. I just love listening to some armchair athlete in their infinite knowledge of the sport who's never spent a minute on track talk about how easy it is.

nascarnut18 has no clue regarding motorsports. Obviously he's never driven on a racetrack or even crewed for a team. Oval tracks are banked. Road courses are not. Road course cars need to handle left as well as right turns doubling the difficulty of car setup. They have to brake, downshift and upshift many times per lap. The driver has to learn the idiosicracies of many turns, chicanes and straights. Circle drivers only need to know basically 2 turns and two straights. BFD. NASCAR sucks.

For every skill unique to road racing, there are just as many unique to oval racing. Take Daytona for example. In a single car run, a driver has to drive a 3500 pound car with a very high center of gravity into a very worn 31 degree bank, all at 190mph. While racing, they do this with 43 cars in a tight pack all around them, nearly being sucked around through every corner, due to all the side drafting.
