this demonstration sucks! if an amputee were to loose a hand he/she would loose the function of the wrist. i do like that it can actually pick things up but that is all we see in this video until the very end. if it can pick up a pencil then of course it can pick up a spoon! my favoite part 3:30 " you can fix your hair" :))) you want to impress me with feed back? .... put water in that plastic cup and pick it up for a drink. i think you have a good product just very bad demonstration.
If you got the product I can demonstrate it. Now read back a sec i typed "... good product just very bad demonstration." Im all for the product, personaly i think its awsome!
hum with enough funding , adding 2 more join with and 90 and a 180 degree angle is possible. see how many join it got in 1 finger ? if possible put 2 more join in the mid of of the palm so it can do something like holding liquid ..I love to buy a hand like that , how much does it cost to create a hand like that i wonder . hell i would buy 2 for fun.
@aibot21 low voltage for energy saving!? Power is the product of voltage and current so what is the current consumption for the servos and controller? , and thus the total POWER consumption. Also which muscles are you using to control the hand ?
Wow, nice job. I've always been interested in robotics. When i first came upon your youtube videos I was amazed. If I could sponsor you I would but I'm only 13. Keep developing Aiko and don't give up! One question though. When you first had the hand functioning where you going around the house doing everyday stuff with it. Thats what I would do If i had such a thing :P.
Connecting the hand to a human nervous system is one thing, but getting the AI to both move AND be aware of what it's doing must be an enormous amount of code writing?
I can't wait for the day I get to see Aiko completely finished. It is so exciting to watch her become more and more of a fully functional robotess. Hopefully if I make it to an old age it will be in a time that Aiko is affordable and functional. I would love to have an Aiko living with me one day when I am old and need help.
Simply amazing. If this was the techonology available 3 years ago, I can't wait to see how far it will get in 2012 and onwards.

Or you could wire it up to your foot and learn to control it that way!

Truly genious.
With that you could help pretty many handicapped people who had lost an arm.

the hand is base on 5V.... low voltage for energy saving... and safer for human.
