  • Try making a wide solomon bar for a belt it would be so cool :)

  • yea its the cobra

  • very cool

  • Thanks for this I'm going to have to try it!

  • @BCoutdoorsurvival great quality and attention to detail!

  • Nice belt man! But your belt weave is actually called a trilobite bar. They might call a trilobite bar a cobra weave in england, but just letting you know.

  • I'm kinda confused how you get the short end? if you are putting the one end in the middle, don't both working ends come out to be the same length?

  • @bldeagle10 This video has been up for over a year and I see now that there is an editing mistake at the begininng. Sorry. You are not starting with the middle on the cord, but twice the length of the final piece as the short end.

  • @seanmulhall

Thank you sir for the reply, that makes more sense now. might throw an annotation in their for future viewers. good video though. it is a very valuable skill to learn.

  • how much paracord do u think u would use in a double kobra 30 in belt

  • Just wanted to point out that the 10 feet in those bracelets might well mean the difference between getting a fire started or not (bowdrill), attaching a spear tip, fishing by attaching the inner strands together to get a long enough single piece, making a snare and so forth, those 10 feet are invaluable if you got nothing else ^^

Btw, I found that with longer paracord weaves like this (neck type in my case) it's smart to shrink wrap a plastic tube around it to avoide fraying over time.

  • Where can you buy military grade 550 cord with seven strands on the inside because im gonna be making a bracelet and i dont want like cheap knock offs of it so yeah.

  • @Sandman1447

Look on Ebay or contact the paracord guy.

  • @Sandman1447 Army surplus stores sell it or you can get it from ebay.

  • @Sandman1447 I get mine from goinggearDOTcom check out their YT channel

    goingprepared

    Super great service

  • @Sandman1447 Blade ops just lowered their price to 12$ for 100 ft

  • @Sandman1447 goto supplycaptian(dot)com

  • @Sandman1447 AMAZON.COM AND LOOK IT UP I BOUGHT SOME ORANGE FOR LIKE 8 DOLLARS

  • How fast can it come apart?

  • @Freedombringer11

Fairly quick. Well faster than weaving to together.

  • I wonder how many hours it took to make this belt.

  • @2ChillPillz

About three hours in total. Working out the initial length and how to start the weave to ages.

  • Great idea for a belt. I was thniking that you could also make one for a hatband. Then adjustability would't matter and you still have plenty of useable cordage. Thanks for all the great work you do. Learning alot.

  • Sean once again mate! Great Clip

  • I'm not sure how, but if you need a 32" belt, then make the belt shorter and find a way to insert an adjustable portion to make the difference. This would allow tightening but also have a ton of paracord at your disposal. I realize this is not much better than simply saying "Why don't you make it adjustable!" IF there is a way to insert an adjustable section, then put clips on each end that would then clip into the paracord belt. If I come up with any ideas, i'll post a video response.

  • @jallenmorris1 you can make the weave around webbing that slide into the clips at the end, like a backpack. That would make it adjustable

  • Just Remembering to burn off the cut end's of the cordage before you start to tuck in the weave so it want un thread..

  • @TheWaggaBloke

    Good point

  • You look like Jared Leto's older brother, lol! (singer of 30 Seconds to Mars)

  • Sean, another great video... Tried this technique yesterday and is really easy, thanks to your video demo. Only used a short length of cord, so need to now try with 15m of cord...

  • Isn't it bad for the cord to be stored with so many sharp bends in it, like it is in the belt? I have always been taught to coil rope in large coils to prevent this.

  • @RDHXIII

I'm wondering the same thing. Isn't the rope going to be all bendy when you unwind it after a year?

  • all my volumes are turned up 100% and i still cant hear you

  • How about double D rings (like a helmet strap) to make it an adjustable belt? You can then also make the belt as long as you like as the overrun can get tucked into your belt loops, and you can make them all the same lengths whether you're as thin as you are or as big as me :)

This will also allow you the have decent metal rings to use for something... I don't know what, but I'll think of something :D

  • I know its a little late but the weave is called a Trilobite Knot / weave

  • @longie4476 Thank you, I have had many comments about this weave. You have now answered everyone questions.

  • @longie4476 the trilobite knot is somewhat of a new name for this weave, I learned this knot in about 68 or 69 as a Ladder Rack knot, I have also seen it called a six pack knot too. Just thought I'd add in the other names I've seen or heard it called.

  • was he eating Cheetos?

  • The site i get my camping and survival gear from has paracord belts for 121.00...i think i just saved over 100 bucks..Thanks.

  • can it be unraveled easy?

  • @unicron24 oh no, heres one that will. instructables((.))com/id/How-to-make-a-Paracord-Rescue-Belt/

  • @paintballhead03 thanks man....u rock

  • @unicron24 welcome

  • its a trilobite stich dude

  • i have two questions i want to ask about this video. firstly was there a reason you didn't melt the ends of the cord because i like to do that while i'm working on it to keep it from unraveling. secondly i think that it is possible to make an adjustable belt like this by using a standard belt buckle and a metal ring as opposed to the plastic buckles you are using, what are your thoughts on that?

  • @TheCharliebro

Your idea of the adjustable belt sounds like a brilliant idea. If I can find the patience to make another then I will go for your idea.

  • @TheCharliebro You've just give me a great idea, I have one of those belts with the two semi-circle rings on one side. I might try that that with this belt.

  • I got 100' which is around 30 meters, of paracord today for $12.

  • @imaghost5 Shop around, you should be able to get 100' of REAL US MIL paracord for $4-$6. I'll buy 1000' spools for $36.

  • @seventhSabra I can only do locally, so I can't buy online. I know there is cheaper, but I can get it right now for that price. It is the only rope shop that I know of around here. That and my friend and I split the difference, we each got 50' of it.

  • ive been wanting to make a collar for my dog out of 550 chord and i think this will work great... thanks for the awesome video

  • @donistrain1

    Thats a cool idea.

  • the cobra knot and the solomon knot are the same thing

  • Awsome vid....I'm actually making my first paracord boxer breifs. I will post the vid in a couple days.

  • Thank you for the video, Sean I have always thought the para-bracelet holds too little cord to be useful and have made several, but a BELT.... Hmmmmm....... I don't know why I didn't think of it before. it is the same process and weave as the bracelet.... just longer....

SAWEET!!!! ***** (5 stars) Working on mine now...

  • great vid sean

  • Is that your dog's footsteps I hear? :)

I havent see him in a video for a while. I would like to see that filmstar again sometime soon.

    All the best Sean,

  • @cuagusgiorrai

He is still around and still fat. I think you can see them in the background briefly.

  • how long did this take to make for a full size one?

  • Also, one size fits all no matter the waist because HEIGHTH will not vary!!

  • Sean, do one for suspenders and I bet you get double the cord! That would be a great video too.

  • Looks good, but what is the practical use of it?

  • @kaziklu79 To be honest there isn't any other than being a belt. I made it to appeal to the survivalists out there. For them they would be carrying a substantial amount of usable cord at all times.

  • @seanmulhall I like it, but it'd be a shame to untwine it to use the cord after all that work. :)

  • @seanmulhall I'm sure that when in a do-or-die kind of survival situation, one could "undo" the belt and use the cord for whatever one might require it for. At least thats what my first thought was when I read the title of this vid.

  • @kaziklu79 I see it as being a practical "in case of an emergency" type belt. If needed, you could undo it and use the cord for whatever you may need it for. It's kinda like hunting knives. In this day and age, most people have no real need for carrying one (unless you're hunting). But I usually have one on my belt all day, no matter where I am. I just like to be prepared because I never know when I might need it.

  • @GuyPyro87 In the city i don't use a belt or wear a light one and carry a pocket knife. I the woods i use a big tough leather belt on which i put my CS Trailmaster or another knife and have a piece of cord/rope in my pocket. The cord stretches and if i hang a heavy knife on it it'll be loosened. And in an emergency situation who knows whether there'll be enough time to untwine this belt. For me it posseses the "cool factor" which is nice, but not enough. If it is ok for you, i'm glad :)

  • @kaziklu79 Ya, I tend to not carry my big knive's while in the city. Instead, I take it off my belt before going anywhere on foot and leave it in the truck. But I always keep my pocket knife on me at all times. As for the belt, your right. It's definitely alot more of a cool item than it is a practical one. Though in a bind, it could be used however a guy might need it for. Regardless of use, I want to make one 8D

Side note: A CS Trailmaster?! *Drools* What did that cost ya?

  • @GuyPyro87 Yeah, if i find a good looking cord i also may try making one :)

The Trailmaster .... well, to be honest it's a chinese knock-off. I've bought two for about 28$ each. But it has the CS design and it's very well made with good materials. Tested it on several types of hard wood (cutting, chopping, etc.), made 5-6 bows with it and it's still very sharp. I'm pleased with it.

  • @kaziklu79 Hey, knock-off or not, so long as the blade holds up to most standards and the unit does just as good as the real thing, thats more than good enough for me. I've got a knock-off version of a Buck Knife Nighthawk. It's the one I usually carry on me at all times. The only real difference between mine vs the "real version" is my blade is stainless steel. Buck's version is 420HC with a Black Oxidized Finish. It holds up very well to abuse and thats all I care about 8)

  • @GuyPyro87 If the originals were more affordable i'd buy only them, but since the chinese ones are well made and 10 times cheaper i also have nothing against them :)

  • @kaziklu79 Very true. All the real good knives are way too expensive. Sometimes you can get lucky though. If you spend alot of time searching all over the place, a guy can find some pretty nice knives at relatively fair prices. It's kinda rare for a guy like me though. Being a Canadian, I tend to find the good deals are usually out of country and would still cost alot of $ just to get it in my hands, lol! Oh well.

  • @GuyPyro87 At least you live close to the States. We in Europe are much worse and here in Bulgaria it's even harder, because the online shopping is very difficult. The prices of the knives (and other gear) are about 150-200% bigger then those in America.

  • @kaziklu79 Holy crap! I guess it ain't so bad over here then, lol! It's worse if a guy doesn't know how to search for good deals too. I'm not one of those guys, and I'm sure you're not either, but some people will buy the first item they see no matter what the cost. For example: After you told me about your CS Trailmaster, I searched it up. The first site I found listed the knife @ $487.18. After some searching, I found the average cost to be around the $250.00-$300.00 range. Quite a difference.

  • @GuyPyro87 The San Mai III version is 550$ and the SK5 is about 200-250$ here :( The worst is that some knives can be found only in one shop and if you really want them you have to pay the price.

  • @kaziklu79 Ya.. Thats no good. The sad part about that is some guys who sell these items online realize this and will up the prices just because they can.

  • Nice

  • Nice belt and really smart way carrying paracord with you!

  • LOL, with my screwed up hands I'd take me a week to do that.

  • I was just thinking of doing this a short while ago. Thanks for the video.

  • thanks for the video!

  • this gave me some great ideas about cord use. great work my friend. yours Earl

  • Great! Consider working a carabiner or a couple metal loops in there and attaching a small water proof canister to hold items for a survival belt. They would make great holiday presents if you know the recipients waist size. I may make some for friends to wear out hiking.

  • Nice one, as far as adjusting the belt, you could get an extra pair of quick release ends and run a short bit of nylon webbing in them. It would act much as a compression strap on a back pack. That way you could wear it outside of a jacket or as a belt. I think I'll try to make this. Great ideas as always. Thanks for sharing.

  • finaly a useable length of cord and the belt would have a lot of uses too.i think ill make one for my rifle as well.thanks for taking the time do show this.

  • that's awesome bro. I'm definitely gonna make me one.

  • actually the bracelet can also be called the solomon bar as well

  • Awesome Video Sean! I'm pretty sure the braclet is made with a "Cobra Weave" or "knot", but im not sure what the belt weave is.

  • While I think the belt is awesome...I just can't imagine taking it apart to use it...unless it was an "oh crap...I will die without it" situation.

  • make a pare of suspenders to fix the adjustable part

  • Great video and thank you for sharing! I don't have the patience for this... I'd find myself tied up in 550 cord reaching for my EDC knife to free myself. LOL! But great info as always.

  • what i had found out was that the bracelet was a cobra stich but i have no clue what the belt knot is i do love this belt idea i think it is awsome

  • what i had found out was that the bracelet was a cobra stich but i have no clue what the belt knot is

  • great vid!

  • loving all the new videos, you've been saving up.

  • Wow, that's pretty impressive.
