Intro music is still epic and badass, timeless! I played the game on my German SNES in 1993, what great remembrance and nostalgia! This game beats most other shumps up to this day. Exeptions: R-Type, Space Mega Force, Thunder Force IV and Last Resort (Neo Geo) :-)
I knew it had to have been made by Konami! lol it might be kinda lame, but I recognized some explosion sounds from Contra III >_>. Really hope it releases on the VC for the Wii soon though.
There was an extra piece of dialog in the Japanese version, over the first shot of the locket: "Peace was supposed to last forever..."
Incidentally, the boy in the photo looks like dog-boy from Twilight

Axelay was definitely the best shoot em up games for the SNES.
Even if missiles are stronger than lasers in this game, Axelay is definitely a classic.

You should've adjusted the brightness level in the options menu BEFORE recording the intro.
I'm glad you apparently caught up on that for the recording of the stages though.

Oh yeah. I should've remembered that. I used to always turn up the brightness before I play the game. It's weird why I didn't do that at that time.

Well, blame Konami for including such a useless option that does nothing but allow dimming down the graphics. Giving it a bad default value on top.
I mean, what were they thinking?
There's a couple of YouTube videos where they play through the whole game on low brightness...

A really great game that came far too late for it's time, to really shine. I love the T-36 Towbar!
