Even movies based on games that actually have great story and characters like Silent Hill or Prince of Persia tend to suck in theaters regardless. Imagine how hard it would be to adapt to film something that has create-a-character and literally no story.

Plus they'd probably use awful CGI for the monsters. >.< Bring back conventional effects, filmmakers!
